Always great to see the Lake District recommend. You probably saw how green and watery it was. That’s because it does get a lot of rain. The best time to visit, weather wise, is from April to June. Spring to early summer tend to be the dryer times. This is never guaranteed. Spring can come quite late some years, and 2024 was wet until September. Always check the weather before a walk so you know what is going to happen. The walks can be long and they are tracks not footpaths. It’s an amazing place but not somewhere to go unprepared. Phone signal in the hills is poor or nonexistent.
Hi Brittany, thanks so much for your clip about Lake District. I heard about this place from my UK friend. I have never heard of this place before. Your clip really gave me a better understanding of what it looks like. Thank you.
The valley of Buttermere, south of Keswick is amazingly beautiful. It is often called the most beautiful valley in England. At the bottom of Borrowdale you go over Honister Pass (steep) and go down to Buttermere which is a perfect Lake, but the village can get very busy at Bank Holidays and Weekends.
A beautiful area. In summer it can get very busy for obvious reasons. If you love nature then the Lake district is a must. I would suggest that you try Snowdonia in Wales, another National park. Keep up the great work
It really is beautiful! I can imagine it gets very busy in the summer. And I’d love to visit Snowdonia!! There are tons of places in wales I’d like to go :) thanks so much!
Return train fares are not double the single fare. If you book a return ticket, the return portion is considerably less than the outward journey, sometimes just a few pounds.
its Wastewater and we say it like this wast-watter its Keswick and we say it like this Kes-ick Windermere has a 10mph speed limit on the lake Kendal My home town also has cheap places to stay and it only 10 miles from Windermere. If you're going crag ratting (hiking) make sure you have the correct foot ware and have correct clothing the weather can turn in minutes.
Its my favourite place in the world. If it didn't rain, there would be no lakes!🤣🤣 Good advise to rent a car outside of London. There are mountain Goat Tours, where they take you to the harder to get to places in a Mini-Bus. It gets busy in the summer, but the first two weeks of July are OK.
The W in Keswick is silent. It's pronounced Kezzick. A lot of tourists get the name wrong.... As someone who lives in the Lake District, yours is one of the better tourist videos I have watched.. I've lived in the Lakes for 66 years, and I haven't seen it all......
@@Brian-om2hh thanks for the tip! And I appreciate the compliment that means a lot coming from a local :) and wow that shows how much there is to see in the area!!
@@SheRunTheWorld It's great you have discovered that there is way more to Britain than just London! And that's good, because many tourist often feel London is it, with little more to see. Another place you might like is York, a similar distance from London, but nearer the East Coast of Britain. York was pretty much founded by the Romans, and much of their architecture remains, including the city walls, some of which you can still access and walk along. York Minster Cathedral has to be worth a visit too, with it's incredibly magnificent stonework, inside and out. Immediately opposite the main entrance to the cathedral is Betty's Tea shop, where many US airman based in the area during WW2 liked to meet.....it still retains it's olde world feel.. York has a major railway station, and so is accessible via the UK rail network..... You will probably be amazed at some of York's very narrow streets, with shops etc. Many of these go back hundreds of years, and I have heard some tourists say it feels like a film set. But rest assured, it isn't.....
I mean UK weather is unpredictable so it’s possible. But I’d say it’s a safe bet to guess late November would be grey and rainy, so not great for hiking/camping /being outdoors
If you like to hike, I’d say so! There are so many areas to explore and hikes to do. But I’d make sure it’s good weather, otherwise it won’t be worth staying that long!!
I’m not sure! The hard part is the London is well connected to all parts of the UK and most other places aren’t. The exact reason why I live in London 😂
The M6 goes up the east side of the Lake District and three main roads go from the motorway into the area. The main train stations are Penrith and Carlisle. Public transport in summer is pretty good for the main tourist places and in the height of summer many of the narrow roads are very congested. We locals try to avoid the worst if that by driving early.
Hi Brittany. Not sure what Country you come from but you sound American or Canada? Haven't you looked into flights to Manchester from America or Canada? Manchester is much closer to the Lake district than London.
Hi! I’m American. I live in London which is why we’re coming from London to go to the Lake District and since it’s the biggest and most visited city in the UK, it’s safe to assume most people visiting the UK on holiday will be in London as well :)
@@SheRunTheWorld That makes sense for you now. I thought you literately flew over from America landed at London to then travel all the way to the Lake District.

It's pronounced "Kezzick". And it's Wastwater, not Westwater, and the 'wast' part sounds exactly like 'was' with a 't' after it. And it's in Wasdale, also sounds like 'was'.
congestion zone in london is only strictly the very center of london, heathrow is really far outside of it, so the rental company just made you pay extra for no reason.
From Heathrow website: “As of August 29, 2023, Heathrow Airport is part of London's Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ), which is an initiative to reduce air pollution. Vehicles entering the airport must meet certain emissions standards to avoid a daily charge of £12.50”
@@SheRunTheWorld Oh, yeah but that's different to congestion charge. I'm surprised that car rentals get affected by ulez, id assume all their vehicles would be exempt as they comply with the emission standard.
