Robert De Niro in fact broke an Oscar record previously held by Katharine Hepburn for longest time span between first and last acting nominations. Hepburn’s first nomination came in 1933 and her final in 1981 for a span of 48 years. De Niro on the other hand received his first nomination in 1974 and his most recent for 2023 for a span of 49 years.
Jodie Foster is very close behind, tied for third longest overall (47 years (1976-2023), tied with Al Pacino (1972-2019) and only behind De Niro and Hepburn).
He was nominated in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook.
@Screen_Prism omg no way
I’m so confused by this comment
@@megamoviez confused about what? Dw I could explain everything. They call me the Explainer
@@Screen_Prism Yes... but he was nominated for the FIRST time in 1974... that's the point of this post. When someone received their FIRST nomination and their most RECENT nomination... do ya follow... ?
Indiana Jones getting nominated over The Boy and the Heron for score is criminal.
No over The Zone Of Interest in score
No, your both wrong, over Spider Man Across The Spiderverse.
@@randomguy6679 Amazing score and I would’ve been happy with that but watch Zone Of Interest
you mean over spiderverse
Look, I loved The Boy and the Heron, but I found it to be one of Joe Hisaishi’s weaker scores. At many points it was so minimal and tonally simplistic that I didn’t even recognize it was him.
I’m stoked for Justine Triet, Sandra Hüller and the rest of the nods for Anatomy of a Fall. My favorite film of 2023. 🥳🍿
Yes! My favorite too!
Agree, but it's not going to win a lot of stuff because of Oppenheimer. Any other year it wins everything.
I hope Jack Quaid and Zazie Beetz come back to do the Oscar’s next year. They had good energy and they got the nominations done quickly. I really liked them.
except for jack butchering sandra's last name lol. which is hilarious bc zazie is german and she could have said her name properly but oh well
I know it was a longshot but the snub of Milo Machado Graner all award season really hurt, especially since the Oscars seemed to love Anatomy of a Fall as a whole. The Lee and Melton misses were also painful but on the brightside i really love that director category
Oh I would have LOVED to see Milo! There was no chance, but the kid is a STAR
He didn't even get nominated at the Cesars even though the husband and prosecutor were nominated for supporting
Sing it Marianna 🎤 ”I’m Just Ken” 😁
Don't threaten me with a good time ;)
Barbie deserved zero nominations. The academy is not ok.
Across the Spider-Verse being left off of Original Score is a travesty to me and represents the idea that the Academy still doesn't take animated or superhero films as seriously as it should. That issue is getting *better* as time goes, but it's still not great.
Daniel Pemberton is such a good composer too
Unfortunately, it's been getting a lot worse, not better. There was a period from 2001-2010 where almost every acclaimed animated film was nominated for screenplay (Shrek, Ratatouille, Finding Nemo, Up, Wall-E, Toy Story 3, The Incredibles) and two were nominated for Best Picture (Up and Toy Story 3). Since 2010, only one animated film has been nominated for screenplay (Inside Out) and none have come even close to a Best Picture nomination.
Literally bro
FRRR I need to know I’m not the only one mad about this!!!
It’s so typical of the Oscar’s with their snubbing campaign year after year, so I’m not surprised. I’m all for Oppenheimer 👍🏻
I loved ❤ the change of format of your video tonight. It’s a great change of pace 😊
There are always snubs, but damn, "Nyad" pissed me off when other amazing options are right there! And thank you ))
Nyad was better than barbie imo so its just about what people like tbh. its subjective of what a good movie is@@ImpressionBlend
Nyad was absolutely better than Barbie. Barbie should have had 3 nominations max.
Godzilla minus one only being nominated for one category is blasphemy
I'm happy it got nominated at least though. Gotta take the wins when we can.
@@dusterrant9332 no, it should be rightfully recognized, by the academy. Not just nominated for one category.
@@dantesparta9921 We don't live in a just world where the Oscars are actually based on merit though, and I doubt we ever will be. I'm someone who'd rather be positive about the victories rather than wallow in how unfair the losses are.
@@dantesparta9921I fully agree (hell it's better than 90% of the best picture nominees), going in that was the only one it had a chance at so I'm just happy it got nominated for something.
TOHO only submitted it in the VFX category.
I wish Greta Lee got nominated for best actress for Past Lives, I feel like she was one of the best performances a lot of people arent talking about enough.
Just sending my condolences:
RIP SALTBURN, TMNT, AIR, BEYOND UTOPIA, MONSTER, JOHN WICK 4, ALL OF US STRANGERS, ORIGIN, FERRARI, AND THE IRON CLAW.
John Wick 4 for what?
@@michiel1162 production design
I mean I didn't like Saltburn but the cinematography and shots were beautiful
Johnwick 4 😂
I've been waiting for this video all year, Marianna! I love your reactions. You're so charismatic and genuine. I’m happy for Anatomy of a Fall getting 5 noms after the French Academy snubbed the movie!
Xoxo
It was a very enjoyable video! Felt like a friend chatting with us on the next couch. Nominations are not the worst as you said😊
Your F-bomb censor. Just... It had me in stitches.
I do want to try and watch Past Lives before the ceremony, Poor Things is coming to my local, seeing it next week. I finished a Yorgos Lanthimos catch-up... Soooo much "What did I just watch?"
I was fairly happy overall with the noms. Would have loved to see Andrew Scott get a nom, but that lineup is solid. Thrilled that Godzilla got some love. Pissed that Joe Hisaishi didnt get nominated for best score for the Boy and the Heron. WTF are they doing nominating a re-hashed Indy score?! will be checking out Anatomy of a Fall because of your recommendation - thanks for that!
I was hoping for an Original Score nomination for "The Boy and the Heron" as well, what a bummer
@@ImpressionBlend especially over Indy. Makes no sense to me. Maybe not enough people saw it or they have a real soft spot for John Williams
Oppenheimer is such a masterpiece I’m literally so hyped for this Oscars… it would be an absolute dream to see Nolan, Cillian Murphy and RDJ winning! Best picture take it home! 🧹
Calm down Batman fan, it wasn’t as great as people say and you know it’s true.
@@SuperWhofan1yes Brcause dealing with birth of the atomic age when we are closer than ever to atomic annihilation isnt great. Also people don’t have to agree with you I loved the movie it’s great you not liking it is a you problem
@@SuperWhofan1this didn’t age well .. its been sweeping
This was a lot of fun to watch! Your reactions to Nyad and May December were very funny.
Instead of Barbie and Maestro for the best picture, May December or The Iron Claw or Fallen Leaves should have been nominated.
I Love You Constantly Smile throughout this Entire Video, Even You Get Upset, like Nyad being In.
The Only thing me is, (although I do Respect Your Opinion that you're not Big on Animated Films), but this is the 2nd Year in a Row that NO Animated Films Got Any Additional Nominations, Outside of their Own Category, which idk if this discrimination act going into the Branches of the Academy, if del Toro's Pinocchio didn't any additional, Spider-Verse, Boy and the Heron & Elemental didn't get any additional either based on the Shortlist.
I do agree it's weird that animated films are kept in one category. Personally, I was hoping for an Original Score nomination for "The Boy and the Heron"
Noms for America Ferrera and Robert De Niro are a joke. Very undeserved. Margot Robbie didn't do a lot with her role as Barbie, so I'm not upset about the snub. Nomination for Oppenheimer for costumes is also a joke, it's just dudes in suits.
5:46 Haha! Great reaction. Unfortunately I read all nominees for original screenplay each year, so I have to read May December.
Barbie was below mid, how did it even get nominated for anything?
All female empowerment hype Mumbo jumbo .. its lucky it’s walking with the giants this years 😒
As a massive Godzilla fan, I'm going to sound a bit biased, but Godzilla Minus One was genuinely one of the best films of the year. Only nominating it for Visual Effects is a crime against humanity. I think it deserved a bunch of other nominations for sound, screenplay, score, production design, director, and yes best picture. Its the least they can do for snubbing Godzilla 2014's best sound nominations and Godzilla VS Kong's best visual effects nomination. I feel the academy won't give him more nominations because they only see Godzilla as "cult" cinema character. If they did nominate him for anything else then they might fear that the audience doesn't think that the academy is taking this seriously.
I love your more chill, laidback videos where you’re talking very casually :)
Thank you!
One of the best videos about these nominations I have seen since they were announced. I love the fact you seem genuine
Love your picks. Surprised you havent spoken about Saltburn. Have you seen it, reveiwed it? Wish it got some love at the Oscars, even for just cinematography. Anyway, love your channel
Love your reaction and I 100% agree with you with a lot of what you are saying lol. Especially about Barbie lol. The one Snub I got mad about is the score for Across the Spider-verse, which my reaction video shows how pissed off about that lol and The Killer for sound was spectacular especially I am deaf with a cochlear implant and it was loud and clear. The biggest surprise that makes me happy is Godzilla: Minus One for Visual Effects. Great video and have a good one!
When “The Boy and the Heron” didn’t get nominated for Best Original Song, Best Soundtrack, or Best Directing, it was finally set in stone that the Academy has no respect for animated films.
Sadly, not surprised. But I was still hoping against all odds for a Best Original Score nomination.
The greta lee snub is insane, i haven’t even seen nyad yet but i already hate it
Sadly, I saw that snub coming.... but not Margot Robbie.
unfortunately past lives just wasn’t getting a lot of love this year, i personally think it was the best movie of the year and deserved way more appreciation from awards
KOTFM being snubbed is a real insult. The way the script carefully cherry picks threads from the David Gran book and seeds them carefully throughout the film is amazing. The story remains compelling despite omitting most of the Tom White and FBI storylines. Ugh....I would have sacrificed Barbie for KOTFM
100% deserved not just a nom, but should have been a top contender for the win
Being honest, I was not sure what was going to happen when I watched this video. This is what happened:
Started watching.
Heard you state Oppenheimer was your favorite movie of the year.
Thought to myself OK this woman is legit.
Heard you state in that wonderful tone of voice, "Barbie, the most UN-SUBTLE SCREENPLAY IN THE WORLD..."
Declared you my favorite movie person on TH-cam.

Since when was Barbie supposed to be subtle? 😂
PLZ DO A PREDICTIONS/ MY PICKS VIDEO!!! Missed one for last year’s Oscars. Slayyyyy queen! 🖤✨💕
Disappointed there was not any Love for The Iron Claw. That was my favorite film from this year. Glad there was a ton support for Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Oppenheimer though.
If more people saw it, I'm sure there would be more love, but A24 released it way too late. And they didn't promote it at all.
Award season was already underway when it was released. It was bad timing, unfortunately.
And thus the feud between Marianna Neal and Annette Bening was born.
Heeeeey now, she's great, let's get her into better movies though!
👍👍 for the video! Marianna, love your reactions to some of the (curious) "choices" made by the academy! 😏
I knew it was a long shot but I was rooting for May December and Iron Claw to get at least some acting nominations 🥲 And the twitter outrage about Margot Robbie being "snubbed" is so ridiculous. Margot isn't even in my top 10 lead actress performace of 2023.
LOL! I had that same reaction when Golda pop'd up. I was like, what the hell!?
Seriously, what is that movie even?
@@ImpressionBlend I never heard of it either. It just came out of nowhere.
Are we really arguing about Barbie snubs? Yes, I know what the movie was about and why folks can relate to it but let’s not get crazy.
From my perspective, if you nominate "Barbie" - you go cannot snub the star and the director. So yea, I think it got odd nominations, and Ken over Barbie is ironic...
@@ImpressionBlend Ryan Gosling was the best part of that movie. anytime he was on screen it was his. I really liked the movie, but cant say that Margot or Greta were snubs. A snub is when they could have won, and neither were winning it this year, not even close.
@@BrettWB no, a snub is simply not nominating the best performances of the year. It doesn’t matter if they would win or not. If not Robbie, Greta Lee should have been in there. People seem to overlook subtlety in Margot’s acting in a very loud movie imo.
@@mhawang8204 We're going to agree to disagree on this. Margot gave a good performance, hardly outstanding though. I'd agree with you on Greta Lee over say Benning. For me, a snub would be Alexander Payne. The director is responsible for the performances and when two out of three of your leads get nominated, you should be as well.
@@BrettWBin what world is Ryan the best part of Barbie? Lol you're certainly a man
Happy for Poor Things, Nimona, Past Lives, El Conde and Godzilla Minus One but agree about Still: A Michael J Fox Movie missing out which is such a great documentary. I am missing 36 of the 120 nominations spots so got some work to do before the award ceremony. I did like Nyad but Robbie should have been in that mix somewhere. Overall a good selection of films.
Working down the list thanks mostly to youtube with The Barber of Little Rock, Island In Between & Bob Wine: The People’s President. Also caught Napoleon which wasn't bad. Starting To Kill A Tiger as I write this. 20 more films to go.
Comparing Oppenheimer to Barbie is like comparing Swiss Chocolate to Hersheys. Both popular but only one is chocolate.
Oh, din't be such a snub. Barbie is a fine comedy, a very finesse one. Oppenheimer is a medorcre wardrama with uts curious main character: an atomic bomb.
@@richardkovacs2006Barbie is the worst movie of the year by far .. lowest scored on IMDb
Hilarious part about the Nyad noms - it's probably the first time gay roles are voted by the more older members of the Academy
Ya…. I have the same reaction when seeing America in the supporting actress nom…. Just because she has that monologue in the end ?
Julianne Moore of May December is superb
Agree. Barbie is so overrated.
I was rooting for a best actor nomination for Zac Effron in The Iron Claw. I also think Susume should have been nominated for best animated feature.
Did Netflix not send you a Nyad water bottle? They sent me a fancy water bottle....so Nyad should get all the nominations! 🤣🤣🤣
They did.... but "Oppenheimer" sent the screenplay and a 4K blu-ray, so it all makes sense now)))
For The Zone of Interest to win instead of Society of The Snow broke my heart so much. Society of The Snow deserves at least one Oscar since it stayed true to its word and authenticity for survival.
The best thing we could say is at least Oppenheimer got the recognition it deserved in all of the major categories including most of all a nomination for Christopher Nolan as Best Director. Still reeling from last year with what I believe to be one of the worst, if not the worst Oscar snub job of all time with Babylon. How is it possible that such a masterful, epic movie like Babylon could have been so rejected by the Academy? Damien Chazelle, one of the finest directors of our time, Margot Robbie, Diego Calva, Brad Pitt, etc. So many great performances in that movie. Anyway, thank you for your expertise as always Mariana. Always love watching your videos. 😃
I’m shocked with Annette Benning getting in for Best Actress. I would’ve switched with Margot Robbie, Fantasia Burrino, or Greta Lee.
America Ferrera’s nomination was a shock. I would’ve switched with someone in Saltburn like Rosemond Pike.
And finally…I would’ve loved to of seen Zac Efron for “The Iron Claw”, but I’m not complaining with the best actor lineup.
god rosamund Pike, she was really amazing
I checked out Golda, and thought Helen Mirren was really good. The makeup and hairstylists transformed her into Golda Meir.
The movie got awful reviews from the getgo and Mirren got bad reviews plus the way things are happening in the world - I don't think people would want to see that movie up for any award (even though it got make up) but hey Mirren did get a razzie nom so that's something she can celebrate.
@@Starkardur 1. That movie is about Golda Meir's leadership during a pivotal time in history. Israel was attacked by several countries on Yom Kippur, almost lost, but was able to turn it around. It strengthened the US/Israel relationship, and prompted Arab neighbors to shift gears in order to deal with Israel's emerging qualitative military superiority. Some chose a path of cooperation, such as Egypt and Jordan, and others not so much (Iran).
2. "People" such as yourself may not want to see "that movie up for any award," perhaps because of political position, but people in general could learn from this to better understand the evolving power dynamics in the Middle East. People who see it also get insight into an important political leader.
3. That said, it was NOT particularly a great film, as the scope was somewhat limited, and the production techniques were riddled with short cuts (eg, showing the faces of leaders during warfare, instead of the actual footage, presumably to keep the budget at a minimum). Accordingly, meta scores have hovered around the 50 (mid) range.
Next time you are interested in writing about films you haven't seen, just because of political predisposition, hatred or whatever reason, think first. Further negative comments toward myself, Jewish leaders or the Jewish state of Israel will be reported.
Did you pat yourself on the back when you wrote this?@@reeldeal3227

Why?@@danreeves7753
No nominations for The Iron Claw and no nomination for Vanessa Kirby in Napoleon. No…the Academy is **not** okay.
I think killers should have been nominated for best adapted too but your reasoning for why zone shouldn’t be doesn’t do much to prove that point. I just read killers and maybe like 25% of that book is actually adapted into the film
I just love your screen presense!
Thank you!
Greta and Margot were not "snubs" in my opinion. Specially in the directing category. I would understand if they nominated Greta though (since she was the first female director to achieve 1 billion in box office), but in my opinion there were much better movies that deserved the nominations and all the directors nominated are 100% deserving. In my opinion Alexander Payne and Celine Song would be the 6th and 7th options, Greta would only come after.
In terms of lead actress in my opinion its a similar case. Margot Robbie was very good, but not deserving of a nomination. She was much better in Babylon for example with a much deeper and complex role. Greta Lee, Fantasia Barrino and Natalie Portman were all more deserving than Margot Robbie to be honest, so I wish people could stop making a drama about Margot and Greta being "snubbed". They were not snubbed. they just didn't have a chance to get a nomination this year.
Its wonderful this video about nominations of the OSCAR.
12:42 India did the same thing with RRR. The goal is to get one movie nominated for Best Picture, and a second for Best International Picture.
This is done if it's felt one film is a "lock," for a Best Picture nomination.
I don't think you do these types of videos very often, but when you're putting graphics or clips in your video, it would be better if you're offset. Like in this video, having your face fully in the right half of the video. The clip overlay covered you a little bit.
Also, very polished editing for a reaction video!
I was a sound engineer and I worked in production and I hate to critics who know how to do nothing.
Thank you for the reaction.
I just had a dream there was an episode of The Critic where Jay worked at a restraunt and was trying to give a slice of pie to all the Oscar winners.
1:37 moment of realization, the internet is going to have a cow lol
I thought I was the only one who ate my hat when Killers got snubbed for adapted screenplay
that snub was absurd
What about DiCaprio for best actor? Apparently I'm the only one upset about that
Thanks Marianna. People are loudly squawking about Margot Robbie's absence from the best actress category. But what they don't realize is that very few comic roles are ever nominated. It's just a prejudice people have, akin to horror acting. (Toni we are still so sorry.) And keep in mind that the Academy members often skewer older as a demographic and Annette Bening has five Academy award nominations and no Oscar yet. Thus, many members want to give her something. But I would have rather seen Margot get nominated, especially since last year's Babylon was completely dumped on.
(Curiously if you run over to Margot's Wikipedia page right now it lists her as being nominated for Barbie with a blank, like someone was ready to fill in the win.)
Marianna I always love your awards videos. Shallow yes. But oddly important. And you are an enjoyable person to have sitting next to us and giving the commentary.
robbie is nominated as producer so that might be what the wikipedia thing is about
I hate the Annette Bening argument because she's literally nor going to win this year either. She's the least likely to win out of that entire lineup
The Toni Colette snub for me is still the biggest stake in the heart in recent years. That dinner scene, I go back there so many times, only that scene alone. But yeah, horror, forget it. All about the drama.
right? Ryan Gosling being nominated for Ken is actually a big deal considering it's a huge comedic role. he totally stole the show!
Just to piss you off, Nyad should have been nominated over The Boy and the Heron in the Best Animated Feature :D
The supporting actress category was such a hot mess
I 100% don't care about the Oscars anymore.
Premiations are political, especially the Oscars. Ferrera got nominated cus of that speech at the end of the movie and lobby from Warner/Mattel. I enjoyed barbie, I thought it was great, fun and witty, but no Oscar material.
10:15 the music I was happy nomincated Oppenheimer and Poor Things gets nominated, but NO Spiderman 2?!?!?!?
You do notice that year after year the academy strays away or completely ignores comic performances in the acting categories. They'll always end up with the deep dramatic performances instead. Check out the history. Always very rare for comic performances.
Paul Giammati & Jeffrey Wright were just nominated for comedies and Giamatti has a real chance of winning.
@@RA-hx9uc but those roles were not true, comic performances, like the ones in Barbie.
Big fan here. I have a question though. In big categories, I think the toughest battle is going to be between Lily Gladstone and Emma Stone. In your personal opinion, who should win? Lily or Emma?
Oppenheimer has the best cinematography of the year :)
Adapted Screenplay isn’t an award for most faithful adaptation of source material.
But I missed Killers in this category too.
Didn't say it needed to be the most faithful, but you can't take the source material out the equation when considering what the screenplay achieves.
@@ImpressionBlend I think a screenplay should stand on its own; that it was adapted means it's not an original idea, rather, based on existing source material. Killers of the Flower Moon almost completely eschewed the significant FBI story part of its source material, after all, yet absolutely deserved a nod in this category. Which source material was Barbie taken from? The fact that the characters of Barbie and Ken already existed?
@@gmiac7721 Yes, existing characters count as adapted for Oscars
Makeup in Oppenheimer was amazing, Gary Oldman's makeup for president Harry S. Truman, the old versions of the characters, the makeup for Tom Conti's Einstein, the makeup for Robert Downey Jr's Lewis Strauss, come on. The Original Score by Ludwig Göransson even, a masterpiece, can't complain about that.
They completely snubbed Spiderman Across the Spiderverse from score, sound, and visual effects. I would've also loved to see TMNT in animated feature,
Agreed with you 100% across the board. And I also don't get the love for Barbie. Bummed that All of Us Strangers got nothing.
It’s all overrated hype … just like EEAO
A crime that society of the snow only got 2, and nothing for soundtrack
Let's be honest, some of the nods are included here only because of their reputation and seniority across Hollywood. Legacy picks at its finest.
oppenheimer is definitely sweeping. im most excited to see Ludwig win for best score. that score is all-time great and it deserves EVERYTHING it gets.
I'm so here for the Oppenheimer sweep!
I’m with you on ‘Nyad’. I cut off the movie mid way. I could NOT finish it! Why the F--- ! 😂
Where is "All of Us Strangers"? At least for Adapted Screenplay for the boldness of its concept and where is Andrew Scott to make that strange concept work?
I like when you hover across the timeline it goes best actress and then nyad rant
Haha peak annoyance in this video
I've never understood what makes a movie go to the international category? I'm saying this because there are several international films in all the others including best picture. I remember Parasite wining best picture once being a South Korean movie.
Ok am gonna help you out here, cause i understand there are things that arent PC for a creator. Specifically, America Ferrera’s performance was the worst second only to Ferrell’s. That cringe Barbie monologue of hers still gives me chills, not the good kind.
Good reaction video. Let's face it, the Oscar's have become irrelevant. Their reasoning and criteria for nominating in all sorts of categories has become more of a political/social statement than actual talent. You make me laugh about the Margot Robbie snub. Should John Goodman have felt snubbed by not being nominated for the Flinstones? Be well, stay safe.
Sandra Huller 👏👏👏
I feel that joe Hisaishi was snubbed in the score category. Also I dont really know how to feel about Elemental being nominated and both Suzume and tmnt not. Though I am happy its Elemental and not Wish...
IMO Godzilla minus one deserved a few more nominations than just the VFX, but sadly due to how the academy has treated films in the past I am not surprised.
Happy for Oppenheimer!! So deserving
Maybe they meant to nominate the performance from Ferrari and accidentally put Ferrara instead.
I think society of the snow surpasse the other movies. zone of interest is amazing and a masterpiece but society of the snow really makes you feel what they went through on the mountain, the music is truly incredible, the acting, taking into account that most of the actors had never set foot on stage, is extremely good. On top of that it is based on real events and J.A. Bayona has managed to make this film not simply a movie, but a feeling. The survivors have confirmed that this is the most realistic film about this case that they have ever made. He has managed to make the passed away people also an important part for the public, because for the survivors they were everything. This film has managed to reach the hearts of many people and has made the case get the recognition it deserved. And not only the survivors, also the passed away. And the cinematography is incredible, part of the film was shot at the actual site of the accident, in el Valle de las Lágrimas. The actors committed themselves to their characters in an incredible way, and lost up to 30 kg. They had to train for months and diet. The casting is also incredible, the resemblance of the actors to the survivors is extreme. The makeup was also very difficult and realistic, since they tried to make it as close to the real thing as possible. I really think he deserves this Oscar. This is a masterpiece.

Huh. Did Netflix flush the campaign with loads of money? I’m surprised at Killers of the Flower Moon not being nominated in screenplay, bummed about Spider-Verse not getting a best score nomination, and neither Andrew Scott nor Greta Lee getting any love, though it’s not surprising, either.
Yep, it’s not the worst year, just a few very strange choices.
France’s submissions are always weird, like not submitting Portrait of a Lady on Fire… Maybe they knew Anatomy of a Fall would get into Best Picture.
The original score nominations were insane. I understand the Indy nom cause that's for John Williams setting a record but American Fiction? There are a lot of good things about that movie but original score ain't one of them. Spiderman Across the Spiderverse should've been nominated over those 2 films.😒
I understand that John Williams is a legend but I don't think this should be an automatic nomination. Original Score was a crazy category.
What's everyone's thoughts on Zone of Interest? Really interested in seeing it
I see what you did there...
@@ImpressionBlend uhhhh what did I do hahaha 🤣
Personally, the director lineup is an all timer.
Agreed. I do feel bad for Celine song but honestly that five is too good.
@@Themandalorian935I really agree.
This year was one of the best year for movies in a long while. Everyone knew ahead of time there were going to be several snubs. Because especially in acting and directing categories there could have easily been ten nominees per category. That being said Best Supporting Actress was a mess! A couple of gals were nominated there for mediocre performances over some incredile ones.
Can they please stop nominated John Williams for sequel movie scores. It’s so annoying.
Same for Diane Warren for Best Original Song
when you said Annette Bening shouldn't be there after Jodie Foster's nomination i just laughed to myself and thought, just you wait. Greta Lee not getting recognized for Past Lives makes me so sad. one of my favorite films and performances of the year.
Very sad about Greta Lee being snubbed, not fair
Totally agree, everyone goes on and on about the Robbie "snub", but Greta Lee's performance is a million times better and where is her nomination?
The Oscar nominations are a result of “for your consideration” campaigns.
WONDERFUL video!!!! Your reactions videos are the best part of Oscar nominations day, and the most hilarious lol. Worst snubs for me are Charles Melton and the 'Killers of the Flower Moon' snub in Best Adapted Screenplay. I'll never understand the nomination for Annette Bening in 'Nyad' LOL -- you're right: that movie sucks. SO bad.
Thank you! Just when you think this is the year they're going to get things right... the go crazy. Gets me every time.
My thoughts on Oscars 2024 is very similar to yours.
- Oppenheimer is one of my favourite films of all time. I think it deserves every single 13 nominations. I hope it wins them too!
-If Oppenheimer does lose any I would be ok with Barbie/Poor Things getting production design & costumes. Zone getting sound. Maestro is winning makeup.
- Amazing for Justine Triet making Best Director. Totally deserved!
- I liked Nyad. I think Annette Bening & Jodie Foster got nominated because they are legends not for their specific performances. I would have gone with Greta Lee & Claire Foy.
- Although I personally want Cillian Murphy to win… Andrew Scott missing in Lead Actor will forever be one of the Academy’s worst decisions. He is exquisite in All Of Us Strangers. The film should have gotten way more love & recognition.
- I enjoyed Barbie. I think people are forgetting it’s been winning a lot this awards season at GG & CC. Glad it got 8 Oscar noms. At first I was shocked by Margot & Greta missing out but it’s a very stacked year. I think they got in the right categories. Greta for screenplay & Margot for producing it. A huge achievement the film got made because of these two powerful women!!! And that’s because of the writing & producing it. 👏
- Agree The Zone of Interest should have got score. And Killers should have been in adapted screenplay.
So many first time nominees & certain people making history with their nominations. Well done to all 👏
I don't think the adapted screenplay should be rewarded based on whether or not it stays true to the book though
