    That kid is incredible... Him with Seider would be the next best 1st Dmen pairing in the NHL as simple as that ! Strong defensively smart with the puck and not to forget Albert Johansson and Wallinder both have an amazing season as well the Wings has so many talent at D and long time it did not happen...

    His style seemed so familiar to me, but I couldn't put it together until watching some highlights last night... Edvinsson reminds me of Paul Coffey. His superior skating, willingness to lead or join the rush, stick handling ability, sneaky good shot, comfort behind the opposing goal line, yet ability to just float back into position to make the defensive play.
    I'm really looking forward to seeing him next to Seider on the Wings blue line.

    OMFG he is good! Can’t remember a player who is 6’5” and is dominating with his skating. I knew he was good pick by wings but I thought that he is more like elite shutdown D who can defend with his skating and long reach.
    I was so wrong..He really have upside to be one of the best all around defenceman in the NHL. He have everything: Size, agility, cap control, stick skills, hockey IQ, confidence..all those abilities are ELITE. I love this player!

      Also, it's no secret that the Red Wings have one of the greatest scouts in the entire league. And with Yzerman bringing some of his fellow scouts he had in Tampa it's even more lethal. Just like at Mo Seider lol. Yzerman got a better defensmen at 6th than Rasmus dahlin at 1. Let that sink in

    Wow I was thinking Edvinsson was more of a defensive defensemen but boy was I wrong. He has crazy good hands, and his skating is astonishing to watch. He is only 18, and looks like he can turn into a "Makar" like offensive defensemen. It's great for Red Wings fans. Between him and Elmer Soderblom, the Wings have something special cooking up and don't get it mistaken.

I just had a quick question about Edvinsso, how bad was the concussion he went through recently that was keeping him out? Has he looked any different/less sharp in his play noticeably since coming back? And then just wondering if it may have long term effects on his career or potential? Thanks again for the videos!

    I see more of a Oliver Ekman-Larsson or Victor Hedman type with his current style of play.
    Lidstrom? I don't know, as there were different sets of intangibles. Nick had amazing positioning and able to read plays in space, yes a good skater but he did not press as much on the offensive rush like todays dmen are expected do.
    Nick had a better shot selection.

    • @fredoh7553
      @fredoh7553 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The most underrated part about Nick was his shot from the blue line. I love how you say shot selection too because that plays a huge part into it. Always seemed like he would find a new creative way to rip a one timer or snapper that would either A) find homers stick or B)torch the back of the net

      I don't think it's fair to compare ANYBODY to a guy many call "the perfect defenseman". To top that off I remember Babcock called him "the perfect human being"! Lol perfection like that is hard to reach. We may never see the likes of it again.

      What's best, a two-pronged answer from me here.
      NHL, Since we won't see Staal and DeKeyser next season here (hopefully) .
      GR , start in AHL aint gone be a bad idea neither, since a year down there will prepare him perfectly.
      I thought two to four years before he's fully ready for the NHL, though he might as well do it next year since we will be in rebuilding and that experience is also beneficial to him here.

    Not much of a finisher. Would like to see more slapshots and less wristers thrown at the net. Needs to go behind the net more instead of throwing the puck into a pile up in front of the net. With his reach and ability to glide and dissolve space the way he does that would be helpful. Wrap around and break the pile up. Tries too often to make something out of nothing and not often choosing the highest percentage play. A bit puck hoggish. The good: You always gotta love seeing a big man with great hands. He glides along the ice and the ice just seems to vanish in front of him. Seems to be everywhere and involved in everything. Wonderful passer, and not afraid to get his nose dirty. Plays with his head up and has great size. His Detroit teammates wont like the hoggish play and thinking he's a forward and the only person on the ice. Detroit will work nonstop to correct any negative habits he has. Little bit different scenario for most defensemen as he needs more refinements than polish. He's pretty polished already and playing in a top 5 league and doing quite well. Detroit has had some bad teams the last half decade (and somehow never getting a top pick) and was forced to rush a few other young players. They can take a little (stress little) time with him in the AHL for a season. However, Detroit needs to add to their buzz they have now and get Detroiters back to loving Hockey again. I'd expect to see him full time in Detroit in 2023-2024. I love how Yzerman is not going after "good" forwards and instead getting great D-men and a great Goalie. We had years of drafting good, but not great forwards and that simply will not win championships. The rookies are playing great in Detroit and its even woken up Larkin some. I expect them to wear down after the All-star break though.
