Thanks for this. I sing and pray the Psalms each morning as word for word as possible. And I've (mostly) stuck with ESV for the past few years now. The Psalms to me are a pathway to turn every single human emotion into worship.
Very helpful video, especially acknowledging for me that sometimes the Psalm I am praying may seem wrong. So I’ve begun to turn the enemies into my own faults and shortcomings that I want God’s help to destroy, and then I can pray the Psalms honestly. And thank you for the Psalms reading chart. I printed it and cut it out and it’s a wonderful bookmark. Sometimes I don’t read all the Psalms for the day, maybe I miss the AM or PM, but I don’t let that keep me away. Now I have a plan and it’s a wonderful blessing to know what I will be reading next.
That was great thank you. I do a once a week bible study with some friends. We're in Psalms now. It is teaching me how to worship. I'm going to share this with them. And use it myself. Again thanks
Dr. Chad, I saw a TikTok you posted on Radaf!! And I cannot tell you how much it blessed me and my Sisters in Christ. Then in my Hebrew Vocab, it came up again!!! Hebrew is just so rich and so deep, I love it so much as it reflects God’s love for us. Thank you for being such a blessing. Bless you and your family !
One of the other blessings of the BCP is the Psalm translation used with plainsong chant. There’s a TH-cam channel that has plainsong to every psalm which is great to follow along with 🙏
I certainly found this helpful. Thanks be to God. I find it hard to stay consistent and focused. I'll start thinking about the particular Psalm I'm reading and lose the time to do the rest for that day. To do it in 15 minutes boggles my mind. Do I just read it without thinking when starting out?
I understand that tendency! We come across things all the time in the Scriptures that arrest our attention. What might work better for you (and I do this, too) is listening to the Psalms for the day on a Bible app like YouVersion. That way the reader will keep reading and you will get the Psalms covered.
Hi Dr.Chad, have you memorized all 150 Psalms? If so, how long did it take you? I started memorizing last week and I have #1 done, and have #2 almost done .. but I think this would take (1 psalm/wk x 150 = roughly 3 to 3.5 years) a long time. Not even sure if my mind can hold this many. I don't care how far I get .. 2 is better than 0, 10 is better than 2 . . doesn't matter. I was just curious what you have been able to accomplish and how long it took.
Feel encouraged by your effort to try to memorise the 150 chapters. I endeavor to do the same, but would u be kind enough to say how many chapters your kind self have memorised thus far?
@@rescuesteve4205 thanks for the response. I find it hard toobut will not give up cuz we believe in His Word . Pray to persevere having His word in our hearts and lives cuz it is only thing that will continue to eternity 🙏.
@@OiYingCheong-n5v agreed, i'm not worried about it .. I have my whole life. for me, it is less about the final goal, and more about the process of adding a little bit each month. As Dr.Chad says, I'm writing them on my heart .. it's a win regardless :)
I could have read a psalm word for word, I suppose, but that was my point. You pray the Psalms by praying the Psalms. Praying the words just as they are.
So when I pray Psalm 1, I spend 15 minutes then the next day when I start Psalm 2, do I pray the first one again then start on 2 and everyday start at the beginning? Sorry for the confusion.
The chart that I follow is spread out over the 30 or 31 days of a month, and each day I pray around 5-8 psalms (not repeating any until they roll around the next month). So once a month, I pray through the entire 150 psalms. here is the chart: standrews.ws/files/2017/11/Daily-Psalm-Readings.pdf
Best advice I have ever heard in praying the Psalms. Thank you.
“The book of Psalms is the schoolhouse for the language of prayer” This is gold! Thank you Dr. Chad
I agree wholeheartedly.
