  • In this video you see my first experience with both trout fishing and the Bushbox XL. I also make a really nice chill casserole in the rain, in the dark and in strong wind. All in all a great little overnighter in the Norwegian wilderness.

Martin that opening scenery shot at 4:20.........man I could drink in that view for the rest of my life and never get tired of looking at it. Fabulous, you are very lucky, I really need to see that view for myself.

It was a really nice place to put up camp. I will go back there and make more videos in the future. It is not the same as being there in person, but it is the best I have to offer :)

You let the trout go. This pleased me so much because as you said, ‘you’d already had your dinner’. I admire this approach very much Martin.

This was very refreshing. Even tho your channel has huge amounts of great info, YOU are the guy that actually ADMITS his 'limitations'. We get REALLY tired of uploaders that 'claim' to know it all. I'll be back time and again.

Just one little bit of advice; when cooking, get a bigger pot and let us know when, so we all can get in on the grub scene. And you were right...anything cooked with a tomato base only gets better, no many how many days you hold on to it. It just keeps getting better. But all in all, that just wasn't right...here I am sitting here drinking beer and eatin' peanuts and you've got all the good stuff!!! But anyway, I sure did enjoy this video.....and MAN, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PLACE!!! Oh, by the way, congratulations on the catch...that made me hungry too. It kind of broke my heart when you let it go...but you did the right thing. Congratulations on a good video. Looking forward to another one....(maybe at the same place???).

I have enjoyed your adventures. Being from Canada its great to see what the difference is between different countries. Great job. In Alberta where I use to fish for trout I used to use a panther martin orange and red dots or yellow and red with silver spinners smaller ones. Also when I would reel back after the cast I would do it nice and slow and pause every now and again. Please keep doing the videos its nice to get to the outdoors with you when I don't have a chance to.

      @NorwegianWoods  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Great video Martin, and a lot of fun.
Funnily enough, I sat down to watch it just after I had come back from cooking myself some steak and mushrooms on my Folding Firebox. You know the one I think - very similar to the Bushbox.
These folding stoves are easier to run than little ones like the Solo Stove because, as you say, they can take larger pieces of firewood and so do not need such constant attention. The only downside is the extra weight.
Congratulations on catching that fine trout. I have never managed to catch a fish like that.
    Best wishes,
    Noel

Great video, grats on the catch! You're on the right track for trout fishing. Any kind of spoon or spinner will work (adjust the lure size based on the size of the fish). For spinners you need to reel at a certain tempo in order to keep the blade spinning and working (you can feel the vibration in the pole/rod when it's working properly). You can try some trolling type lures like flatfish or triple teezers, but since you're on the shore they won't really work as designed. You can also try some still fishing on the bottom. Trout love garlic, so if you can get some garlic marshmallows made for trout (or powerbait) you can give those a try. I like to pair garlic marshmallows or powerbait with salmon eggs, slip sinker to a swivel with whatever amount of leader to the hook you think you need based on the length of the bottom vegetation. The marshmallows/powerbait will float the bait up off the bottom to the lenght of your leader, just above the level of the vegetation. If the trout are on the top then fly fishing is always a winner. If you don't have fly fishing gear, use a bobber/float with salmon eggs or worms. Anyway, these are all ways I have been catching trout my whole life. I'm sure other people have some great ideas as well. Take care and never give up on fishing :)

Thanks a lot for sharing your tips and experiences. They are most welcome. I have done a fair bit of casting, trolling and worm bait fishing for peach and pike, but this is my first attempt on the trout. I will try some fly fishing at some point. But I think I will stick to the stuff I am somewhat used to this season :)

As always, wonderful photographic content in difficult conditions. Man, that Chili looked so good. The chili pepper is the secret.
I've never tried the Bush Box. I use a home made Hobo Stove. The Bush Box packs nicely. Take care and I am already a Zed sub. 👍

Awesome video! That trout was beautiful and so is the country! If you're looking for better lures I would recommend trying black rooster tails. They always catch trout for me!

Thanks for the tip. It seems like the rooster tail spinners are very popular in the US. I have not seen them around here. Guess I will have to pick up a few from Ebay :)

For fishing trout, i recommend you these spinner lures what u already have ,but you really should try flyfishing in the future. It's totally different feeling.
nice video btw, keep it up!

Sølvkroken Aura flake in both green and red have worked very well for trout. Get a couple of them in your tackle box. :)

Nice fish and a really Nice overnighter Martin!
The trout doesnt always bite on plastic/metal lures, try a fly tied to a Inno-float bub ”link in bottom”
I have had a lot of success with those on both rainbow trout and trout.
Angling with float is also nice, thats the Nice thing about these inno floats, its really easy to change the little pin inside from a ready made flyset into a ready made angling set with just a single hook for worms :-)

Hello Norwegian Woods! Recommended to come here by Zed, love your videos sir. With the fishing I would try a spinner such as a mepps or an ondex, the ondex never fails for me on both perch and pike!! Keep up the great work

Panther Martin, black with yellow dots like you have. I've caught most of my trout with that, although it was mostly river fishing.
