    This is the best marketing tool that Fender has produced, cheap, affordable, usable and good for all guitarists at all levels. The bluetooth setting which allows you to jam with your favourite backing tracks and the abillity to record onto your computer make it the ultimate practice tool for students and pros on the go. Awesome stuff.

    I've watched more than a dozen reviews of the Mustang Micro, and this is by far the best one. You covered it top-down. Moreover, I could tell you were having FUN, which is the point of the device. Have some fun! I have one, and have lost many hours noodling on the couch. Also, really great that you ran it through the Iridium for your viewers, plugged it into different guitars, and wore headphones -- unlike other reviewers who mic a single amp and don't really demo the range of the effects. BTW, the USB port allows the device to get firmware updates (new amps\ effects?), and also gives Fender the opportunity to build a phone app to control the Micro -- like NUX. Great job! The Kazoo says it all @58:15, even though it's an image that will haunt me. LOL

I guess it will sound superb on most close back studio monitor headphone as long as the hp eq is flat and not colored so you hear how it’s suppose to sound. My DT770 Pro at 250 ohm and no issue with the output. Volume knob at 1 o’clock - perfect 👍

      Try a Vox at half the price, first. If you think you'll ever use more than that, go for it. Im a longtime player and I have found headphone amps to be much less useful than they seem like they should be.
      Now... the closest thing we had when I was a teenager living at home, was a Rockman and I couldn't afford one. An affordable headphone amp, would've been a Godsend.

  • @GlenBraeDude
    @GlenBraeDude 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    i strongly recommend this as a great little practice tool, especially considering its features for the price. However I've encountered a major design flaw in the Fender Mustang Micro. I'm a lefty, all my guitars and basses are lefties including my Fenders. This product was not laid out in an ambidextrous or lefty-compatible fashion. Try plugging it into a lefty Fender Stratocaster or lefty Jazz bass for example, you'll see what I mean. The control buttons and LEDs wind up along the bottom side facing away from me so I can't see at a glance how they're selected and the guitar plug, while fairly malleable is also designed to favor right-handed play. I'm a bit stunned Fender didn't catch this stuff during product design/test phase.

    • @BillZad
      @BillZad 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The usb cable has a reversible small end plug, that's 18" long, and you can't find a longer cable , so get a 1/4" guitar cable 5 or 6 foot long, and a mono cable adapter to plug into one cable end, and the Mustang Micro in the other end of the adapter, then plug the other cable end into the guitar, hope this all makes sense. You can have the micro in front of you and see it better for operation and learn the color combos and remember your favorites. The main thing is a 1and a half foot usb cable, is now 5 plus feet long, you can relax and play and record way easier, hope this helps GLTA....Plug micro into cable extender end, not the guitar input jack, This helps out for lefties..... ;-) Basically your extending your guitar input jack through that cable, to adapter to micro....... Plug the usb cable into the micro to the Laptop or PC . Cheers mate

    • @GlenBraeDude
      @GlenBraeDude 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@BillZad Thank you, Willy, for suggesting adding in cables to resolve my problem with the Mustang Micro. I had already considered adding in a male-to-female guitar cable between the Micro and guitar. Unfortunately doing so essentially defeats the whole purpose of the Micro's compact, "cableless" design. There are lots of alternatives, many that offer more features, if I'm to be tethered by cables. Instead, if Fender is considerate they'll release a Micro II (ambi) or Micro L (lefty) so we lefties too can share in the joys of the product's design.

    I pretty much nailed it in my thinking that since I was a kid I noticed that Fender amps had a ton of sound I hated, and very little I liked for my musical preferences. I wasn't wrong. The clean stuff is nice, but it's miserable for anything else. Damn near every other amplug I have looked at has a better gain tone all the way up.
    In my head Fender tube amps are the ANALOG king of blues and crunch with the right pedal setup. Digitally, I'm surprised they even bother.

    Honestly has its place and its uses, At 120$ is it cheaper than buying a cheap combo and pedals that can cover all it does? At the same level of sound? Keep in mind you also get an PC Type C interface, Because the Scarlet and Presonos options that don't suck run around $100-200, Are you getting your monies worth out of this?

    FBE 100 is either a friedman something or an Engl Fireball I assume. My guess is the former, didn't sound dark enough to be a fireball. This seems pretty cool all around but the higher gain amps didn't sound very good which is the main thing I'd be interested in. The low/mid gain tones sounded great, would be curious to see if the EQ notches salvage the higher gain but I'm expecting not. Cool little unit though.

    Nice demo - it would have been a tough call between this for $100 and the boss waza for $400 I went with. The boss is an awesome set of Bluetooth headphones, easily a $200 set so that helps justify the price difference a little. I like not having to use an app for the mustang though. I have made a few presets I like for the boss and don’t use the app any more really. And I never use the 3D gimmick. Cool, but not super useful.

    You totally made this work. Hahah. Putting OD in front of a SS preamp. The size of a money clip. That's kick ass. It works. Makes me want to now try my Revv G2 in front of my Gt1. Hahahahah

    Why are you daisy chaining to record the output of the Micro when you can use the USB-out on the Micro to plug it into a computer.

    Really interesting choice for them to call it the "Mustang" 🤔. Looks sick though

      Their modeling amps have had the name “mustang” for a long time now. It’s not just this one.

      All the other items in it are also designated "Mustang."

    From Fender's website:

    So I purchased this micro amp 2 years ago used it a handful of time,way to cumbersome to adjust .It swivels but still not user friendly.I find it way to hard to find the sound I want,color codes etc.For the money ?? I 'm Going to try the lt40s for a few bucks more,don't have to break my neck trying to find the right color with the right amp etc etc.

      Same here... Although, there are definitely some points going for the simplicity of the amplug. This fender thingy has a tad too many options and combinations (which I could survive better, was there an option to control it via phone app with save able presets). I like the simplicity of the amplug, which in my opinion goes better with the gadget's purpose. You want to pick up the guitar and instantly jam, not to fiddle around for half an hour before dialing the "right" tone...

      you can plug it into the output of any pedal and use it as an a headphone amp. I dont remember if i was doing that in this video.

    You could’ve easily used an auxiliary cord from the headphone jack on the Micro into a Bluetooth speaker for sound..

    With the only overdrive with the "65+Greenbox" do you think it is possible to use an overdrive or fuzz pedal with the Mustang Micro? Thanks and Merry Christmas!
