Like many, I heard this from T3. Didn't give it much thought. It sounded nice. It wasn't until it played on my mp3 player years later during work that this song really stuck with me. I was in a basement, 65 hours a week, doing inventory with no one around except my music and audiobooks. I went back to school the next year because I was... thinking about the future.
I'm reading this comment of yours 3 years later and I feel both sad and happy for you. Sad because you had to work 65 hours a week(this also makes me sad coz in maybe a year later , I too might be doing the same in an IT industry) and happy coz you went to school next year and improved your qualifications and hopefully working environment too. So cheerios and best wishes !😄
The Complex is an all-time favorite for it's been a soundtrack for me in the recent past. Thanks, Blue Man Group. By the way, the music production, the dynamics, the sound itself...all state of the art!
You know what would have been the clincher here? If, at the end of the video when the film runs out, the camera cuts to Kristanna Loken in her Terminatrix getup, and she looks to the camera and smirks and her eyes glow blue like her T-X persona before cut to black.
I absolutely adored this song when I was 15. I didn't have a computer or cd player but I did have it recorded on sky tv. I must have watched this video 50 times back then.
So im in the Marching band at my high school and i play the bass drum and one of our cadences is this song called "Current" its the coolest thing ever!!!!!!!! love the blue man group!
The song deals with urban and occupational isolation, the two key themes from the album. The isolation theme is furthered by the setting, which takes place in the underground portion of the urban complex: the location of the phone lines, electrical wires and internet connections.
Going down, going down, Down where my breath is the only sound. Going down. Going down, going down, Don't look for me now, I'm not around All day long I'm underground. And I've been thinking about the future. I've been waiting for the day. Let the current carry me far away. Let the current carry me away. The current flows, but I don't know where it goes. I don't care, I just get it there. Took this job 'cause I needed one, And now it's seven years since I've seen the sun. All day long, I'm underground. And I've been thinking about the future. I've been waiting for the day. Let the current carry me far away. Let the current carry me away. And I've been thinking about the future. I hope someday I'll get away. But the current keeps bringing me back around. Seems the only place for me is underground. So tomorrow when the sun comes up, I'll be Going down, Going down, Going down.
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines John Connor (voiceover): "By the time Skynet became self-aware, it had spread into millions of computer servers across the planet. Ordinary computers in office buildings, dorm rooms, everywhere. It was software in cyberspace. There was no system core. It could not be shut down. The attack began at 6:18 PM just as he said it would. Judgment Day. The day the human race was nearly destroyed by the weapons they built to protect themselves. I should have realized our destiny was never to stop Judgment Day; it was merely to survive it together. The Terminator knew. He tried to tell us, but I didn't want to hear it. Maybe the future has been written. I don't know. All I know is what the Terminator taught me: never stop fighting, and I never will. The battle has just begun."
@Sevleehamon Good to hear that. I never quite understood fighting over music. Music is like a key to your own soul, and not every key fits. So there are different styles that appease different people. And with so many various styles, why bother arguing? Albeit, most of those arguing on TH-cam have to be children and don't know any better. Go and listen to more Bush! Good stuff! I'll be listening to Emi Evans and Freescape! You take care likewise!

I don't disagree that it is a fine song, but it is a major-label release, featured on a blockbuster film, that received heavy airplay on a spread of music channels upon its release.
hey guys, would you be interested in allowing me to use this cover, for the promo for my new book? Comes out this Christmas. This song has always been really powerful for me and fits with the theme.
Such a shame this song is linked to Terminator 3. I think this was the only redemption for that dumpster fire lol. Absolutely loved this song. And still listen to it to this day.
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines John Connor: "The future has not been written. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves. I wish I could believe that. My name is John Connor. They tried to murder me before I was born. When I was 13, they tried again. Machines from the future: Terminators. All my life, my mother told me the storm was coming: Judgment Day, the beginning of a war between man and machines. 3,000,000,000 lives were vanished in an instant. And I would lead what was left of the human race to ultimate victory. It hasn't happened, no bombs fell, computers didn't take control. We stopped Judgment Day. I should feel safe, but I don't. So I live off the grid, no phone, no address. No one and nothing can find me. I've erased all connections to the past. But as hard as I try, I can't erase my dreams, my nightmares."
This was a massively underrated song. I love it.
I agree.
Anyone else get random songs that they haven't heard in 15 years stuck in their head. Well here I am. At least I remembered who sang it.

"there is no fate but what we make for ourselves."
Which is NOT the same as saying that there's no fate at all. 😉
