You could just let off the gas pedal but also you need to press and release the clutch to release Torque or you could fuck up the transmission. I do it both wsys it depends on the load
i have little understanding on how and why the spliter is for but isn't the point so you wont miss a gear going on a hill with load? if so why go into neutral if you also have a chance on missing the gear.. by the way awsome video i understood how to shift it better than the other vids explaining and talking how to do it smh they be pushing diesel pedel on and off and pressing on clutch for every shifter gear. thumbs up on vid👍

Going into neutral for a split shift is the surefire way to break the torque and complete the shift. Cummins have a very touchy accelerator and when you are loaded pulling even a small grade it will be difficult to split shift.
And completely incorrect. You should never use the hi-lo selector in neutral. Maybe you should go watch the EATON FULLER VIDEO HERE ON TH-cam on how to shift a 13 speed. And also no using neutral to break torque does not hurt the trans and you can actually shift quicker that way, but you should throw the red selector right before making your half shift, not in neutral.
Chuck Panger you actually don’t go to neutral, it’s just a little half way to neutral and it goes back real truck drivers will do that way just because they can but automatic half truckers will sit around and keep criticizing something they will never be able to do.
This video should be titled " how to mess up transmission bushings" especially with that gay ass extended shifter,that looks so dumb kinda like putting ape hangers on a harley

per eaton/fuller ... do not range or split in neutral , using clutch unloads the torque
I have to in 5th gear in my truck it won’t split right all the other gears are fine but 5 makes an awful noise
