Shifting without using the clutch is an art. It's like playing a musical instrument. You can or can't do it. It takes equal amounts of patience, practice, and time.

Smooth clean shifting, very consistant on shift speed and RPM as the gears increase.. very good.. i never drover a 13 speed only 18 speeds..theres jist no splitter in the basement for an 13 . soo full props to this guy.. great shift, truck sounds mean as shit, nice growl to the stacks..

I drove one for 6 months. It was a Sterling tandem straight. Useless as shit because I was never loaded heavy enough to need to split the bottom. Could've REALLY used a top split.

@@traviscarter1693 Diet, cook your food. It's not bad too eat out sometimes. But you can get a slow cooker. I eat chicken and rice mostly. Buy some dumbbells and resistance bands. Make your own workout. They don't have weights in prison and they stay big. It's not all about the weights. It's just how you workout and eat.
K Leon See. that what I was thinking about I got 15lbs dumbbells already already do 30 to 40 in a set plus about 120 to a 140 push ups a day man. Plus go to the gym.

Currently working on a similar video of myself driving my wife's Camry. Got the Cobra Sunglasses, ear buds, no floss, I'll be going with the traditional tooth pick. Lo - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - Lo position in high range ("hidden gear") D, same gear OD - 5D, 5OD - 6D, 6OD - 7D, 7OD - 8D, 8OD = 13 speed becomes a 14 speed Nice truck man
Been using the "hidden" gear for 25 years. It isn't available on all trans models (9, 13, 18). But, it is the same ratio as the lower gear (in low range) below it. If your accelerating, coming out of 4th in the low range and try to hit this gear, the RPM's need to be the same, your not building speed. It's same thing on a 9 speed and some 18 speeds. I use this gear to keep from having to drop into low range when going around left and right turns in the suburbs...or at a "rolling" stop.
All this talk of "the hidden gear"...I didn't think it was available on my 21 year old Mack 18 speed, turns out, I was wrong! The "gate" to move over must have been "stuck", probably hadn't been used in 2 decades. Just had to sit still, clutch in, go in and out several times (yes, that's what she said)....I have re-newed my passion for "the hidden gear"...using it often. Thanks DieselFuelOnly!!!

I didn't know something so simple could get so many views. he's shifting, 1, 2, 3, throwing the high rang switch, putting it back into the low (the gear closest to your hip) with the splitter down, then flipping the splitter switch up, then going to 5L, 5D, 6L, 6D, 7L, 7D, 8L, 8D. D=DIRECT.
I’ve worked with and hired many drivers over the years. Very rare to find someone who can drive like this. I’ve seen 2 drivers that were still not as good as this. I buy mostly automatics because there is hardly no one who is easy on the truck like this. An automatic turns a mediocre driver into a half decent driver.
I'm thinking this guy doesn't like to drive an automatic anything... Same way I am driving a dump truck. It doesn't do you any favors grinding and binding coming out of a pit on a steep climb with an 8 yard load of wet sand. You miss it hesitate, it's gone.
My dad taught me to drive when I was 13 hes drove for abouy 28 years now. He used a dowel hed smack me on the leg with it if my shifts weren't clean like that. Learned real fast to keep it smooth and not miss gears

We called those guys super truckers. This guy is a classic of one of em'. Worried more about his image than actually getting his load delivered. They would let the air out of their seats to sit low and put extensions on the shifter to raise it higher. LOL All the old truckers laughed at them when they passed them on the big road or saw them in a truck stop. To be honest you can shift a 13 speed pretty much any way you want when the trailer is empty. All he was doing is splitting gears which is no big deal.
Was wondering if the transmission rebuild has come yet from using the cheater gear. (Its a tiny low torque gear that's designed to only be used for bull low). I also prefer to let the synchro do its job by keeping it in gear while splitting as it's designed because all this guy is managing to do is cut his shift linkage lifespan in half by taking it out and back in to split.
When ever I see this kind of shifting, it just makes me appreciate my automatic even more now a days. I must be getting old because it just seems like too much bother for highway driving anymore.. lol
I agree -- high-end sports cars (Aston-Martin, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc.) all use transmissions equipped with a double clutch and controlled by a microprocessor, which can shift gears infinitely faster, and more accurately than a human driver.

Do you have to shift the stick out and back in when you’re splitting? I was under the assumption you just flipped the red switch forward to split and don’t even need to move shifter.

I can tell exactly why you shift (literally) into neutral when splitting gears; to allow the shifting mechanism in the auxiliary transmission to operate more smoother. (in otherwords, less strain and wear n' tear on the overall drivetrain and it guarantees that the teeth won't grind together when trying to engage.) very clever I might add. :)

I didn't know something so simple could get so many views. he's shifting, 1, 2, 3, throwing the high rang switch, putting it back into the low (the gear closest to your hip) with the splitter down, then flipping the splitter switch up, then going to 5L, 5D, 6L, 6D, 7L, 7D, 8L, 8D. D=DIRECT.

I’ve worked with and hired many drivers over the years. Very rare to find someone who can drive like this. I’ve seen 2 drivers that were still not as good as this. I buy mostly automatics because there is hardly no one who is easy on the truck like this. An automatic turns a mediocre driver into a half decent driver.

I'm thinking this guy doesn't like to drive an automatic anything... Same way I am driving a dump truck. It doesn't do you any favors grinding and binding coming out of a pit on a steep climb with an 8 yard load of wet sand. You miss it hesitate, it's gone.
My dad taught me to drive when I was 13 hes drove for abouy 28 years now. He used a dowel hed smack me on the leg with it if my shifts weren't clean like that. Learned real fast to keep it smooth and not miss gears

i saw your videos when you just uploaded it on youtube. during that time, i was looking to buy a new car for myself. then after watching this, i decided to proceed with manual transmission, coz it remind me those times traveling with my late grandfather when i was a kid.
and now 3 years later, best decision i ever had. i even copy some of your styles, those shades and a bandana wrapped around my steering wheel.

@@mncalapati415 you do realize you only use your clutch in a semi when stopping and going right? Those trans are made to be shifted with no clutch they just slide into gear unless you're stupid and can't manage the throttle while shifting then you're just gonna be grindin it tell ya find it
@@daltonholmes4071 Of course I realize that, ima trucker myself. I tried to teach a new driver how to shift without using the clutch and GODDAMN!!. GRRRRRINDING like a mofo. He ended up quiting after a week, he said the job was too much physical work. I was like, "Really n*gga"...

They would let the air out of their seats to sit low and put extensions on the shifter to raise it higher. LOL
All the old truckers laughed at them when they passed them on the big road or saw them in a truck stop.
To be honest you can shift a 13 speed pretty much any way you want when the trailer is empty.
All he was doing is splitting gears which is no big deal.
Was wondering if the transmission rebuild has come yet from using the cheater gear. (Its a tiny low torque gear that's designed to only be used for bull low).
I also prefer to let the synchro do its job by keeping it in gear while splitting as it's designed because all this guy is managing to do is cut his shift linkage lifespan in half by taking it out and back in to split.

When ever I see this kind of shifting, it just makes me appreciate my automatic even more now a days. I must be getting old because it just seems like too much bother for highway driving anymore.. lol
I agree -- high-end sports cars (Aston-Martin, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc.) all use transmissions equipped with a double clutch and controlled by a microprocessor, which can shift gears infinitely faster, and more accurately than a human driver.

Do you have to shift the stick out and back in when you’re splitting? I was under the assumption you just flipped the red switch forward to split and don’t even need to move shifter.

I can tell exactly why you shift (literally) into neutral when splitting gears; to allow the shifting mechanism in the auxiliary transmission to operate more smoother. (in otherwords, less strain and wear n' tear on the overall drivetrain and it guarantees that the teeth won't grind together when trying to engage.)
