  • Here is a list of everything I wish I'd known before majoring in Accounting featuring Kagiso. I hope this video helps you out in some way.
    What is up guys! I'm Masego Thole, a South African TH-camr who makes videos around young people where I highlight issues we face on a daily as well as motivation; advice on how to navigate school and everything else in between I might have wished someone shared with me over the years. But don’t worry, I GOT YOU! :)
    Also, I raise topics that I feel could be continued with some of your friends and family for more individualised growth.
    If you liked this video, please leave a like and don't forget to subscribe and click on the notification bell for future upload notifications.
    Always remember to be kind to one another and be patient with one another. PEACE & LOVE ❤️

    I am in love with the factors that you have discussed . . . and the fighting spirit is my favorite factor because yes you fight when you do this degree, the CTA, and articles one should start the journey and end it with a fighting spirit.
    Thank you Masego and Kagiso

    Thoroughly enjoyed this video, am working full-time and wanted to divert to Accounting so it's really helped clear a lot of things for me, especially one on knowing your why? other than financial gains.

    I enjoyed the whole video...I think you should make a video on how to balance study accounting sciences and working full time

      Great suggestion. However, I'm not a full-time worker while studying. But I'll see what I can do 🌸

      Definitely! In my opinion, I think you're half way there. DON'T GIVE UP. It's all possible when you KNOW it is. Just keep improving where you see there's a lack and check back in with yourself every so often. All the best :)

    I really love this video. I just got accepted at UP in bcom accounting science while my entire life I’ve been doing subjects like biology, physics and chemistry. I’ve been rejected in NAS faculty but I’ve been accepted in EMS so a lot of things I don’t even know them since I never see accounting as a subject to do…… I’m a little bit scared but I think I can’t make it ☺️☺️☺️
    Thanks for the video ❤

      Omg I'm so happy and excited for you!! Congratulations 🥳🥳🥳🥳💃🏾💃🏾
      You're gonna do great - even without having done accounting before! UP offers additional accounting classes for those who haven't done accounting before. So you're covered!
      All the best 🌸

    I'm in Grade 12 Accounting I'm not getting distinctions but I love the subject won't it chow me in varsity because of that

    • @masego_thole
      @masego_thole  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I don’t remember getting a distinction in Accounting. If I did, it wasn’t that many times - - since I can’t remember lol. But it was one of my favourite modules in Uni.
      Obviously the formula won’t be copy and paste in everyone’s experience (especially because there are different factors that contribute in ones performance in a subject), but I think the fact that you love the subject and are passing, despite not getting distinctions, is sufficient since it’s hardly a requirement to study Accounting further (just confirm this with the institution requirements you want want to apply with).
      Nothing comes easy but also nothing is too challenging. You just need to put in the work and find help whenever you get stuck.
      We work with IFRS standards to cover the content, so that really helps a lot in understanding the reason we do anything. Rather than cramming a whole bunch of information and rules.
      Also, University isn’t about how excellent you were in high school. It’s about the effort you put in and the willingness to keep pushing. Your success in high school does of course create a greater chance for you to know how far you can stretch yourself when studying a particular subject but one does not automatically equal the other. If you meet the minimum requirement to study the course, you definitely have what it takes to finish!
      Feel free to ask me more questions when you need. I’m happy to help... AND ALL THE BEST! :)🌸

    FBS 121 (financial management first year, second semester at Tuks) almost ended my CA(SA) journey 😭😭

    • @masego_thole
      @masego_thole  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yhooo same!! I have stories about that module but I also want to say that it gets better, I promise!! It's a brain thing. You need to switch on your problem solving/critical thinking side. It all comes with practice and once you get it, it becomes instinctive. Just give it some love and it'll improve.
      These modules become a rollercoaster each year and each one needs attention. FBS became my best performing module throughout my CTA 🤞🏽
      You've got this ❤😊

    Good day, Mrs Zanele Kekana. I would like to know that when switching from a Bcom degree. Does this mean you'll have to add an extra year or you'll continue ?

    • @masego_thole
      @masego_thole  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Celamandla. It depends. If you're still in undergrad, there's transfer requirements per university which differ. If you already have a BCom degree and are transfering into an Accounting Sciences Honours degree, you have to do a bridging course which adds an extra year to your studies. This again differs per university. Look into your University's requirements as well as others if you want to do it elsewhere. 🌸

    Nice ❤️ do you guys work a lot using computers ? I'm doing CAT in school and it's a little bit challenging for me, so I don't know man, excel 💔

    • @masego_thole
      @masego_thole  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good for you for taking computers as a subject 👍🏽
      Definitely yes, especially Excel. It's so important in this profession. If you don't already know how to use it, you'll need to learn it at some point, so better now rather than later. Especially those formulas and V-lookup.
      We actually use accounting softwares and not those ledger books 😅 ultimately everything exists on a computer.
      Technology is our reality, so rather have it work for you than against you.
      It's not even as scary as you might think it is. With time and enough practise, it'll be like second nature to you.

      @@masego_thole thank you 😊 and for the motivation as well, I'll give it my all really 🤗
      Also I wanted to ask Miss, I've done some research about the Thuthuka bursary if not mistaken..and they were saying some stuff about NBT test you should write before they support/fund you. Can you share some knowledge about that,if there's something you know

      @@ThobekaMathobza-hp5fq I have no idea. Please search "UP undergraduate programme information NSC and IEB 2024". Those words exactly. There's a pdf with all the information you need.
      You can find contact details of the relevant people to contact in the EMS faculty. They'll assist you with all your queries.
      Just a reminder that closing date for applications is 30 June. 😊
