Danny Stuivenberg wow i didnt know, really? Tbh LA Noire just had a bad engine and thats why it ran badly on PCs but it always looked like that much money is invested (almost as in GTA IV)

They probably won't make GTA 6. They'll just ride off the dividends of GTA online.

GTA6 is coming, but probably after Bully 2 (They wanna test the waters on that one) and GTA Online will die down, there's only so much they can do with it and the limitations of the engine and the shit consoles (Casino DLC brought in so many bugs, glitches, crashes and issues, it shows that there's a limit to what they can do), they can't shovel that much more content onto something that runs like shit (on consoles) already.
I sadly doubt they gonna touch L.A. Noire again. They own the rights (well, i guess Take-Two does) but real life worlds aren't really a thing of Rockstar anymore. Maybe some other Take-Two Subsidiary takes over but who knows how that turns out

This game was ahead of its time. And to think they even animate the bloopers & outtakes for a game is beyond awesome.
I don't think they had to animate anything though, like they mocapped the entire performance at once, face body everything. so then it's just a matter of rendering it.
shame they never really used this tech for any other games...

It's still ahead till today, you would be shocked to see that alot of AAA games today still don't catch up to this level of facial expression
@@Niko-td4yxumm, hate to break it to you but facial and voice capture were performed separately from the body, they just sat still for a huge setup of cameras. The motion was added in later

The fact that the eyebrows and tounge movements could be animated like that really showed how ground breaking this tech was at the time. Honestly, I'm not sure if current motion capture would be able to pull that off.

The fact that Rockstar went out of their way to include outtakes/bloopers as of this was an actual movie is pretty great. Imagine if games like The Last of Us or even Call of Duty in their campaigns included bloopers from times during their mocap performances. It just adds to the fact of the use of TV show/Movie actors contributed to the quality of what the game did for facial scanning. Still upset we never got a Noire Sequel

I beat it for the first time a week ago on ps3 and I'm honestly shocked how amazing it still looks! The voice actors are incredible every single one of them and the cases feels like an episode in a tv series. It's one of the most unique and best games I've ever played!

I really don't understand why MotionScan engine by Depth Analysis hasn't been used since. After 9 years of being introduced it is still incredible in 2020.
Difficult to work with and not really necessary anymore. Look at COD WW2. That stuff is almost on par with this
It was also poorly recieved. A TON of people throughout the gaming industry learned what the uncanny valley was thanks to this game. Amazing technology, but wasn't able to achieve what it set out to do effectively.
The problem was textures, I imagine today it could practically be perfect, but until you could get textures above early PS4 this was just uncomfortable to sit through.
It lacks flexibility. Essentially what it does is make a 3D scan of a face every frame, which takes up a lot of space and is very much "baked in".
Damn the motion capture in this game is incredible!
Is that all? For some reason I wanna see more of the bloopers involving the villains, like Roy and Leland and Harlan. Oh and Jack, though he ain’t a villain.

The game was developed by a 3rd party studio and the tech died with the studio when they went bankrupt. This is the first and only game to use this kind of mocap tech to this day
