I've only seen three videos of this channel, but I have to say, the interviewer really prepares the questions well. Really directed towards interesting or important topics, yet open-ended enough to allow the interviewee to add personal value to the answer.
Great interview. I'm interested in medicine,health sciences,exercise,helping other, and military life. I'm also interested in starting my own company and gym later in life after I serve my country.
In short, maybe. The US military is in great need for medical personnel at the moment, so it may be an opportune time to reach out to a recruiter and see what your options could be. In this past there was this program called: Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI), which allowed non-citizens to join the military if they required a skill that was in short supply (medical training, special language/cultural knowledge, etc). I believe this program was suspended in 2016, but look for a recruiter in the specific branch you'd like to join and talk to them. For most things in the military there are waivers that allow you to forgo specific requirements if they want your skill enough.
In order to be a physician in the US Army, you have to be 1) licensed to practice medicine in the US. So, for most FMG Foreign Medical Graduates, that means an additional residency in the US, 2) to be a doctor in the army, you have to be an OFFICER, and to be an officer, one needs to be a US citizen. Non-US citizens, can generally serve in the enlisted ranks, and that is often suggested as a "quicker" path to citizenship. I'm going to Seminole State college in Orlando in a couple weeks, I'm going for a B.S in health sciences with a specialization in Health coach. Will that help me become a medic or a doctor in the military?
This certainly would be attractive to a recruiter who needs to sign up "smart" individuals for training as an army medic. It also should be attractive to medical schools you apply to. but, of course, it is important to remember that in order to sign up even to get military scholarship for medical school (HPSP Health Professions scholarship Program), you would need to be healthy enough to JOIN the military, meaning, can't be over-weight, can have asthma, can't have peanut allergies, can't have migraines, etc etc etc. Dr Enzenauer
