Your not even watching the mind blowing version of Unforgettable Day. Lol. This is his song, he wrote the music and a close family friend, Oral Baissengir, wrote the lyrics. Bastau was his first solo concert, 40,000 people. The song is in the Kazakh language, it is one of the fan's favorite songs. I don't think he learned the mannerisms in school. You learn singing techniques in school. And he didn't go to opera school, he went to a music university, that teaches Bel Canto (opera style singing) also pop/jazz contemporary vocals and he has a Master's Degree in music composition. Soon a doctorate in music. So he's currently got 2 bachelor's degrees and a Master's. Try Olympico next. It was written for him by a famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy.
He hit the D8 at his Gakku performence in his hometown. Mind blowing dolphin whistle.

He is a fully trained opera singer and turned down the Astana Opera. He is also conservatory and university trained in contemporary music, with huge amounts of private voice teaching and other training.
And yes you learn stage presence in both opera and contemporary training. Dimash's parents are both singers, dad is contemporary and mom is opera.

Great reaction and commentary! Yes, Dimash composed the song when he was a teenager. He sings it a bit differently every time. The Gakku concert has the infamous D8 note there. My favorite version is from 2021 Digital Concert during the pandemic.

Our gorgeous Dimash wrote this when he was 17-19 (depending on who you believe). I heard him say that he wrote it when he was 17.
His vocal coach would make him move around while holding a note to feel the effects on his body. Dimash also swims for breathwork and TaeKwon DO. (Check out his impressive high kicks) ❤❤😊

Dimash composed this song when he was 17. He performs that last section differently every single time. You simply must react to his version at the Gakku music festival because there, he inadvertently sang a now legendary D8, his highest recorded note, which is the note beyond the right edge of the piano.
Dimash attended an arts high school, where he specialized in classical singing as a tenor. Although his earliest voice teacher was his mother, his first formal teacher at the K Zhubanov Aktobe Music College was Marat Aitimov.
Music is his life. He takes it seriously and explores it like Magellon explored the sea. He loves it all. He once said...." If you look inside my heart you will see music. If you look inside my mi d mind you will see music also." When he goes off into vocal orbits....its not showing off...its his love of expression and exploring how notes can be used outside the box and be interesting.
When he moves his mike around...sometimes its to prove he's singing live. People find it hard to believe he is....but he is.

You should really react to his cover of Lionel Richie's Hello. You will never think of it the same way again. You still haven't scratched the surface. You want to tear up? Do his version of Ave Maria which was composed only for Dimash. There are no lyrics. Just his voice and it is heavenly. You will need to put filters over the Dimash videos because they get blocked .... a lot. As far as Dimash, he sings, he raps, (yes he does that too), he composes, he plays multiple instruments, he acts etc.

Dimash’s performances are always top-notch productions. He can literally do anything, from rap to opera. He studied all the great opera singers in school, but was also heavily influenced by Michael Jackson. I would recommend “Stranger” although that seems to have copyright issues sometimes. Also, “Olympico” and “Opera 2” both really show off his range. He does sing ballads that don’t have that build up, but most of his songs build to incredible finishes.

He leaned from MJ. He was his idol. He did some tributes to him, and my favorite is where he sang a duet as guest for a Chinese/American contester : Victor Ma. The "Earth Song". One of most epic duets ever.

I think this performance was part of his 2016 tour of his country, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of independence of Kazakhstan. (Correct me if I'm wrong, someone.) He was 21 or so singing in a concert in his own country. He named this tour Unforgettable Day, after his own song by that name. He performed a number of covers in different languages and also some of his own. Unforgettable Day is one of his compositions.

I said I thought it was from the same concert as Unforgettable Day in my addition to the comment, but went on to say I must be wrong because I thought Unforgettable Day was in the 2016 concert. I guess I was right that they were in the same concert, at least. Bastau is the concert that the Kazakhstan government sponsored because of his success in the Singer wasn't it?

@melbrod3868 Yes, you are correct. Bastau was a result of his success in China and sponsored by the Kazakhstan government. Dimash was only 23 at the time and his looks have not matured into the handsome young man we know today. And he's always working hard, no matter the age. If you are interested in viewing the Bastau concert further, Dimash has a playlist on his channel with several of the videos. Such a great concert!! And, I agree, Adai + Daididau is definitely one of the highlights. Such an emotional performance!
@melbrod3868 Dimash's Unforgettable Day Tour was a series of smaller appearances in honor of Kazakhstan's independence. The tour was in 25 cities in Kazakhstan and 2 cities in Russia that occurred between April through December of 2016. Dimash had to cancel his appearances of the last few shows in order to travel and participate in "I Am Singer" which started in January 2017. Bastau, after the Singer success, was his first full length solo concert.

I find the visual aspect of this performance a bit distracting(which is why I prefer some of his other ones), but it's still incredible(duh, it's Dimash).
For the next song I'd go with 'Sinful Passion'(I'd like to recommend the fancam version from his D-Dynasty concert in Moscow,
it's not the version people usually react to, but I think the raw sound gives it a different appeal), or maybe his most recent upload 'Dudarai'(Kazakh folk song)?
...Aaand after you've checked out a couple of more songs I really recommend watching 'The Ultimate Dimash Guide' by LiLaSi,
it's split into 12 parts(around 10 min each, though it varies slightly depending on the topic) and very well made and easy to follow.

Dimash had a concert in New York's Barclay Center to a sold-out crowd. There were "Dears" (fans) from 47 States and 54 countries. You can watch the concert on TH-cam, The Arnau Envoy Tour. I love the way he performed this when he appeared on The Singer 2017. It was a competition for professional Chinese singers who already had established careers. Dimash was invited to perform as a "dark horse". He was the first foreigner and the youngest singer in the show's history, and not a professional singer. He was 22 and the other singers were 10-39 years his senior. He was in China and did not know the language. His first four songs were in French, Russian, English, and Mandarin. The other singers and the audience were blown away.

You should check out his version of Lionel Richie’s song Hello. He sang as a special guest the next year after he competed in 2017 China’s I am Singer competition where he instantly became a Star.
