I’ve owned a 2019 Road Glide and put nearly 50,000 miles on that. I then bought a 2023 GoldWing, manual transmission. I owned that for about 11 months and am now back on a 2024 Road Glide. The GoldWing is the better bike on paper for sure. It has everything out of the box that you want or need. It is powerful, nimble and has great wind protection. Oh, and the Wing is so quiet and great for those 800 mile days. As others have mentioned, it is difficult to really stretch out your legs on the Wing. The Wing has no character however. My Road Glides have soul. Furthermore, I always felt like I was sitting ON the Wing and I sit IN the Road Glide. The storage capacity is much less on the Wing and the clamshell side cases are not practical to use. I do love how the Wing locks all the cases when you walk away and then they unlock when you get near the bike again. I’ve had to spend more $ to get my Road Glides to where I want them. Heated grips, better windshield, better seat etc. But, when outfitted as I like, I find the Road Glide to be a more comfortable ride.
love the review. seems accurate from the perspective of a goldwing, Streetglide, Roadside owner. I'd ride the 2023 GW across the county but I enjoy the the HD's more. what a first world dilemma!!!😂
I've ridden the '24 Road Glide (would be happy to own it) and an older model Goldwing (would be happy to own it or the latest iteration) and my own personal Challenger. The Challenger marries the smoothness of the goldwing - albeit not AS smooth as a boxer 6 - with the coolness of the Harley. Indian gives you better power, suspension, tech and reliability right up front, whereas HD will ask for $3k more just to get you there, and Goldwing is - well - it's own bike. All are great, but it would be worth for someone considering a wing or glide to ride the Indian first.
Bought a 2024 Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT in hopes that it could replace my FJR1300 and K1600 for long distance touring. IMO - it’s not a touring bike. I’ll be getting a Goldwing when Honda comes out with the next refresh.
I came off 10years on a hot-rodded Victory Cross Country and 80k to an 18' Goldwing Tour. The Wing is a better ride in just about every way, it would be the bike I decide to ride anywhere...I have to admit, I do sometimes miss that low-slung American V-Twin coolness factor. But the Wing has a quiet confidence and is cool in its own way.
Right on. I have a 2022 DCT non tour. Took me a season to figure out the full fun of DCT and paddle shifting. I have also had several bikes and enjoyed them all! But this Wing is in a class above.
Just sold my 2022 Road Glide and bought a new 2024 Gold Wing DTC. I miss the Harley comfort and ergonomics. I was really able to stretch out on the Road Glide with higher bars and touring pegs on the engine guard. But---the Goldwing has superior suspension, rides smooth!! Superior wind protection and quiet. Superior heat management, you feel zero engine heat even on 90 plus degree days. Plenty of power and you don't have to mod the intake and cam like I had to on my Road Glide to get some power out of it. The DTC, it's pretty nice, shifts great but not 100% necessary. Overall, only thing I miss about the HD is like you said, the "cool bike" factor.
That is an advantage the HD has.. being able to put any kind of bars on it that fit you best. I have installed the Horizon SST bars on my GW and absolutely love them! I have them adjusted to be 2" higher and 2" farther back with a more forward sweep
It might not have the cool factor, but the other things are off the charts. Speed. Brakes. Seat. Tech. Motor. Lights. If you feel good riding it, that's all that matters. Sure, at furst glance, people may not consider you capable of stabbing them through the chest with a pool cue, like Jax Teller. Then again, being underestimated isn't akways a bad thing. 😂
I will say the Goldwing is set up from factory in a far superior package. Faster, smoother, better suspension, various amenities. With that said, I do not like the way the Goldwing fairing is set up on the inside. I like how my 2017 Road Glide “wraps around me”. It’s simply a me thing. I do not like the new 2024 Road Glide fairing at all. The only thing Harley offers far more than any other brand is the ability to customize the bike. Harley themselves offers thousands of parts from bolt on, to serious wrenching. Then there is a plethora of aftermarket companies. Thanks for the video
U have the highest bars I’ve seen on a GW. Can u please share ur bar setup? I’m a tall guy and the non starter on a GW for me has always been the hunched over feeling with the stock bars.
Yes I have installed the Horizon SST bars. They are very adjustable! Mine are set to be at least 2” higher and 2-3” farther back, plus you can adjust the tilt and sweep. They are incredible
If/when I give up on my 2009 Ultra Classic I will return to Honda and the Goldwing even though my long distance riding is far behind me now that I will soon turn 77 and have slowed down considerably. Thanks, good vid. 👍
Great vid! Bike looks great. The handlebars look taller. Did you change them and if so, what brand? Any other mods or changes, like seat, etc.? Thanks!!
I find the Goldwing too automotive...almost lose the feeling of being on a motorcycle...I'm not a fan of side opening bags ...all your gear falls out...fun changing an air filter as well. They are two different breeds of bikes...not really comparing apples to apples. A Goldwing to a BMW touring bike would be more apples to apples. A Roadglide to an Indian Challenger is oranges to oranges. I owned a Goldwing and Harleys. Still own a Harley.
The both bikes are great if you’re looking for high technology and more comfortable go for Goldwing bike if you’re looking for nice sound nice shape nice looking and soul definitely go to the Harley Davidson road glide. Goldwing is better, but you will not feel you are driving motorcycle so comfortable but without character Harley also comfortable but not like Goldwing but you will be have nice character all people you’ll be looking for your bike Harley Davidson, but less people look for Goldwing that’s the difference.
I agree that it needs a bigger fuel tank, I can also tell you from experience that 240 miles is pretty easy to get with the 5.5 gallon tank as long as you know that theres plenty of places along the way to get fuel
I bought the new Goldwing tour in 2020. Put 38,000 miles on it in less than 18 months. You can squeeze 55 Mpg on flat land w/ 2 up. Should have at least a 7 gallon tank. (its a mile muncher for gods sake) Definitely the go to bike for a long trips. Have had 2 Electra glides, Heritage soft tail, fat boy & a dyna. Down to 7 bikes in the stable now. Like & ride them all daily /weekly all year long. "You don't get yesterday back & you can't buy a minute."
I had 3 gold wings. Africa twin DCT & ctx700 DCT trannys. And many harleys. Your 14 road glide dosent compare to a m8 2022-24 road glide. My 22 RG limited is WAY more comfy than my wings. No cylinder heads where I want my feet to be everything about the Road Glide I like better and I’ve had Two Honda dual clutch transformations fail. Wait till you get over 30,000 miles on it. Honda and Harleys are well built bikes, but I’ll take the Harley any day. Tell me how much fun you have hanging out in a Honda shop. Nothing wrong with a good American products. Tell me how ya like taking off all the plastic to get to air filter !!
my 19 RGS needed a factory rebuild at 40k and transmission rebuilt at 58k, I do not ride hard or abuse my bike, I would NEVER own a Harley without an extended warranty! A Gold Wing is my next bike, fedup with worrying 'what next can/will go wrong'
@ thats why I wait 5 years after any brands new motor or. Model. Thus 2022 M8 for me. Many M8 first few yrs had your same issues. But warrantyed. Still have my last yrs twincams (bugs workedout) Close to 100k . Both. Great so far. But they’re all good. Glad you like what you like. :) Keep riding 👍
I am 5'9" 200 pounds, the GW fits me perfectly. I do have the forward mounted hwy pegs and find them to be very useful. I have heard that tall riders find the riding position a little bit cramped.
Thanks for the honest opinion. Refreshing to hear someone not bashing either bike but giving an opinion. Good job!
People who truly want to be comfortable when hammering out big miles in a day, should be riding a Gold Wing! Thanks for the comment!

You have a solid argument.. as mentioned, I have been a Harley Davidson guy my entire life, until I rode a Gold Wing
I moved from an ultra to a Goldwing - not looking back.
love the review. seems accurate from the perspective of a goldwing, Streetglide, Roadside owner. I'd ride the 2023 GW across the county but I enjoy the the HD's more. what a first world dilemma!!!😂
Yes, lets just all get out and do what we enjoy no mater what bike we prefer!
Compromise brothers - Indian Challenger :) Get the vtwin fancy tickled with the power and smooth riding and comfort of the GW.
That’s what I was thinking…
I did some research on the Indian , but I never did straddle one. I probably will in the future
@@FistsInTheWind Do yourself a kindness and ride an Indian Challenger/Pursuit

You will not regret it!
The truth is the truth , all of them great bikes…. the Goldwing just does more better.

Yes, they are Horizon SST bars.. very adjustable! I will be doing a new video with more detail about them
Actual value for money vs bragging rights at the local bar. I'll take the Honda.

Yes, they are Horizon SST bars and I highly recommend them. I will incorporate the details in an upcoming vid

They are comparable because the Japanes mimicked the BMW, like all of their bikes are just a version of the real deal
I can assure you that when you get on a nice twisty road, there's no doubt... it's a motorcycle! Thanks for watching
My dyna does the thing when I fill it up
The older you become ... The wiser you become. It's about time.
There's a lot of truth to that!
Enjoy your ride! Mine is a 24 SG its the way I roll.
Your bike does have the "cool factor" thanks for watching!
Doesn’t matter in my opinion. 45 years riding H-D motorcycles

Yes, they are Horizon SST bars. I will be discussing them in an upcoming vid
Hardley's Fraud Glide is Jochen's feeble attempt at a GW when HD Inc. should be winning with simplicity instead.
It's a bit unfair to compare the Harley with a real motorcycle
The Goldwing is so superior to any Harley they're not even in the same league.
I own both and couldnt tell you which was better. Theyre not competitors.
