@@BobSmith-jf6qr , they are not native to America, lol. You probably have a sugar glider which is not even a rodent but a marsupial, hence it has only half of the cuteness.

I encourage people in this comment section who think that only Japan gets the “cute and exotic” animals to look up just how many types of flying squirrel there are. :) While I can indefinitely say there is nothing quite as chubby and adorable as the Japanese Dwarf Flyer, I can indefinitely say that North America has both the Northern and Southern flying squirrel! They’re actually seen as pests in some areas, chewing up the insides of roofs in groups up to 60 in some cases, lmao. They’re very small and nocturnal, so most will go their entire lives without seeing one. :0 You might just be closer to a flyer than you think, ESPECIALLY if you live in the rural US!
1:16 those two fighting who gets to sit on the tiny stick. XD 2:38 It’s interesting how the design of their fur makes it so they appear skinnier lol, but they’re so chubby! Is that to keep predators away? Lol. 5:06 so cute!!

Japanese flying squirrel “ so ... ima just
.... slide on in”

Oh, I completely understand and condone Japanese people's obsession with cuteness.
