Hot damn Eli showed his true form in this song. I love how his voice has that... EDGE to it when he belts it out that would be perfectly suited in a hard rock song
"I was so stunned I was just going to sit there in silence for a bit..." Yeah. I get it. I've been waiting for your reaction. I think that this song is a textbook example of bringing the energy of a song up, and up, and up to the absolute highest possible level... and then taking the energy higher. Geoff has taken us to school with this arrangement.
My favorite move in this is when Geoff plays magician with misdirection. Towards the end, he sings “never shall,” then the others each sing “never shall" in a rising chord. Then as they sing “we,” he moves his hand the way he does to indicate a low note, so you think “Here it comes,” but they go high instead before he hits you with “Never die” and just holds it there.
Always love your reactions! This has to be, by far, Voiceplay's best work to date. Geoff's arrangement was pure brilliance, and everyone was absolutely amazing and on point. I've listened to it probably 100 times since it came out, and I hear something new every time. There are so many layers to this amazing production.
I knew this one was gonna blow you away! Yes, Geoff arranged it, and it's his best work ever so far! 🔥🤯🏴☠️ There's so much going on thru the song! They deserve all kinds of awards for this! 💖🙏
Another reaction video bites the dust. Voiceplay have managed to render almost everyone speechless with this rendition. I have yet to see a reaction video where ther isn't a few moments of deathly silence when it finishes because those reacting to it can't get their heads around it in time to speak.
I love Mortimiss. She brings a very nice counterbalance to your hype with her kind of nonchalance. The contrast is super funny and her lack of "visual" enthusiasm is top notch. Loved it. It also reminds me people around me when I want to share those videos with them and they are not into A cappella or singing at all... My meaning : more Mortimiss!
Mortimiss, if you know what you like, and you obviously do. You can be, and you ARE a reactor. The two of you are cute together. I would like to see more from this Morti- duo. Thanks for another great reaction.
Okay, im really late to this but just found your channel looking for voiceplay reactions. The offset "Thieves and beggars" at the end that you pointed out almost feels like what you might get back if you called over a body of water, and your voice echoed back to you. SUCH a cool choice.
I was thinking today how I couldn’t wait for your reaction! This one has broken reactors. Left them speechless. And word is, something even cooler is on the horizon. I’m nervous. I may not survive it. Mortimrs is awesome!
Great review!! This arrangement is just stunning. I’ve listened to it dozens of times and keep finding something new to get excited about. They’re all pretty good actors but Eli and Jose are absolutely superb, and if the vocals didn’t ratchet the tension up to crazy levels, their intensity would take it there. Layne has got to be one of the best beat boxers I’ve ever heard-he does things I can’t believe are just him and a mic. Of course, there’s Geoff and his crazy bass just setting a solid foundation for this and Cesar brings that innocence and sweetness that you heard in the original, when the song was started by that little boy (he’s no slouch as an actor either-can’t wait to see more of him with the group).
Hey Mortimiss, one of my favorites movies as well. This was chillingly delightful. Aside from the set and light works (all of which were on point) the characterizations were perfect. Shout out to Cesar's creepy eye, Layne's serial killer eyes, and last but not least Eli and his insanely accurate portrayal of a life long inhabitant of an asylum. Between you and Miss, you present a very balanced review. She knows what she likes and you explain why we all like it. You guys are perfect together. My husband and I have a similar dynamic, only he is the more anchored and I am the more exuberant. We have been married for 48 yrs. Together we, imperfect as we are, have found a perfect harmony, it looks like y'all have found your own.
You are both so adorable! This song was incredibly intricate. I would have missed at least half the things you pointed out. You have a great ear for this and such enthusiasm, I would love to take a class from you. But this channel will have to do. Keep it up!
Knew you were both going to love this. So glad you brought Mortimiss in with you as she is both amazing and a fun balance to your spectacular knowledge with her pure joy!
I love it. This is a cover that has stuck with me hard since it came out, and I'm so happy to see your take on it. I still remember that the first two reactions that I saw for it had the reactor just get up and walk away from the camera for a minute. It's my working theory that this cover is intended to do in reactors.
I heard them do the song first, then your feed came up and I listened to your takes on it. Very good. I learned a few things and you were a refreshing view. I enjoyed it. Tx.
Yes that was my first thought - Stunning: the Vocal Runs, the Production and the Harmonies It was nice to hear from both of you. You seem like you’re having a great time. I appreciate the analysis, as usual
Hey Mortius, just wanted to let you know this is the full song. which is very hard and rare to find. the movie only ever did the first three parts, the kid started off with the king and his men, and then the full pirate started in with yo-ho all hands section, then it shifted to Elizabeth whisper singing the some men have died section before she is found by the Chinese pirates
I love this one...I go back and visit reactors again for the joy of having someone else geek out with my about these guys! But what I really want to say here is how freakin' adorable Mortimiss is!! Oh you kids these days!🥰
Their next one (honestly idk when they’re posting it, cause it came out on patreon on august 30th) is gonna be even more… uh- chaotic? Reaction wise from the reactors. It’s really good. I’m too lazy to type out my whole thing in how it’s Grammy level good but know it’s Grammy level good. Also it breaks history in the basement with Geoff’s part.
This is such an epic rendition. Oi. And for clarity on the original, only the first verse and chorus are featured in the beginning of the film, and then Elizabeth is heard singing the latter bits while rowing through Singapore trying to get the local pirates' attention.
I absolutely love this video Mortius! Mortimiss is such a great addition ❤ Yall are so cute together. Also you seem to be complete opposite of eachother which is really sweet.😊 Its so clear that you love her just in the way you talk, listen and look at her.❤ Your reactions are absolutely amazing 😂
I have been looking forward to seeing your analysis of the arrangement, as it has broken each of the reactors who I have seen react to the song. I knew that it was going to be awesome when I saw Jose was joining them.
There is a actual full version of this song. But in PotC 3 thru only did the first verse. There are those that have sang the entire song. Love your reactions.
As amazing as they all are in this song, Cesar always catches my eye by the way he is doing his acting in this video. It's so mesmerizing, he did such a good job. Eli as well.
This reaction is amazing! Mortimiss was such a great addition to this! You both are so cute together ❤️ It's easy to see that you are are in love with her Mortius 😊
I missed this reaction. I thought i’d watched all of the VP reactions. So did Cesar forgive you for calling him Jose when you were talking about the keys? I found it funny because you’re such good friends now.😂😂❤❤
It's easy to forget that Layne (and Adam from Home Free and Kevin from Pentatonix) are also incredible singers instead of just being vocal percussionists.
Loved your reaction and your wife is adorable! Being in Love, from the Music Man. I dreamed of playing Marian the Librarian, but oh so many years later I am perfectly suited to play Eulalie Mackechnie Shinn, the mayor's wife.
Geoff held that last F1 like at least 6 seconds. That's a really breathe-y note, in chest. I'd need like an extra lung (assuming I could reach it at all)....
Once again VP does an awesone job. Geoff & his foghorn self...Jose doing the "hands" solo channeling his inner Capt Barbosa...goosepimples galore! It was Caesar with manicles (old handcuffs) not Jose with keys. 😉 You're not the only reactors to have that reaction. King Family Reacts literally had to take off his headphones & walk away. Qofy Reacts had essentially the same, but needs a few well placed beeps during the song. If you want to hear a super haunting version done check these guys out: th-cam.com/video/_4T5sxTVGoE/w-d-xo.html
Cesar wasn't shaking keys, he was holding shackles in his hand and hitting them onto his leg.... Love your reactions...You need to do more reactions with your beautiful lady by your side...You both picked up on things the other missed....
this one is so awesome, and I hear more things every time I hear it. I enjoy watching your reactions, since you are so into the acapella sound. Also, I liked seeing Mortimiss...she is funny and very cool...I hope she joins you more often.
I am not sure about anyone else but after hearing this magnificent VP Cover, I went back and watched the beginning of the movie "the gallows part" here is the link if you want to do it too, th-cam.com/video/lNRjt4rCymM/w-d-xo.html ok what I have noticed is the nod to the movie that voice play does, it's amazing. Shaking the shackles even though just a single set is a nod to the part where they are stomping and shaking their chains, Cesare singing so sweetly/ the little boy singing solo, and a few other things I don't want to ruin for you, check it out. It is very cool.
Beatbox! The term is beatbox!😄 Layne is the beatboxer. Absolutely NO hate whatsoever on u saying "vocal percussionist" bcuz obvi that is correct, but it's much easier to hear u say beatboxer rather trying to imitate it😁🥰 BTW, Layne is also a violinist & an arranger, along with Geoff, for VoicePlay.
What can’t Voice Play do? They can’t disappoint and that’s the only thing! Loved your reactions! Your wife is so cute! Love that she pointed out something to you! Go, Mortimus!
That last run through before the end is almost like a fugue. Where they all take a part of the chorus and verse and sing it starting at different times. Here is an example th-cam.com/video/tSUt23aW4vM/w-d-xo.html
If you like voiceplay and Geoff, then you will really love Tomi P. He is a bass singer who also does his own covers. He is also part of a collaboration with 3 other basses and they are called the bass gang. Tomi P has a 6 or 7 octave range if I remember correctly and came out with a cover of My Mother Told Me recently. Great reaction as always/
I love your reaction to this! Also, I was wondering if you noticed that it looked like Layne had taken over the bass line when Geoff did the run up on his "Never shall we die" part for a bit before they switch back to Layne's vocal percussion?
@@officialmortius Also, right after that 2 octave or so leap of Geoff's, he casually drops back down into the depths and within a beat or two is dropping sneaking F1 subharmonics into the bassline. Ridiculous!
MORTIUS------ FIVE THUMBS UP JUST FOR YOUR SWEET MRS. WHEN I SAW HER THE FIRST TIME, I THOUGHT THAT YOUR CHANNEL SHOULD GO CO-REACT. NO MORE NEED TO GO TO HER AND SAY "HONEY!1 YOU GOTTA HEAR THIS"..

Oh, and Mortimiss, with that oversized pastel blue windsor and no collar -- pretty adorable! :)
Yaasss! Can we please make ties without collars a thing? All my pretty ties are feeling neglected next to my graphic tee collection.
I know I cant stop listening to it.....its so freaking good
This year there is a new contender. Hall of the Mountain King
Welcome to the list of broken reactors...
Always love your reactions, but having a stoic Mortimiss right there while you geek out was a treat.
I knew this one was gonna blow you away! Yes, Geoff arranged it, and it's his best work ever so far! 🔥🤯🏴☠️
There's so much going on thru the song! They deserve all kinds of awards for this! 💖🙏
Those aren’t keys Cesar is holding, they’re shackles. Much more pirate-y and creepy.
And shackles are especially appropriate, since in the movie it's chained prisoners singing.
This is my first reaction that I’m seeing with Mortimiss, and all I can say is the two of you are so cute! More of the two of you please!
Great reaction and analysis! Mortimiss was a delight! Please have her back often, she was adorable and entertaining. 😊👍
Another reaction video bites the dust. Voiceplay have managed to render almost everyone speechless with this rendition. Pirate jam session. This has left many many reactors speechless!
At 2:09 I just laughed at how synchronized your mouths drop were... Hehehe!
Beautiful couple and great reaction 😊

Mortimrs is awesome!
It was their Halo theme. And I was right. I barely survived it.
Mortimiss hearing Geoff’s low notes for the first time and going 😮 is a mood
Great review!! This arrangement is just stunning. I’ve listened to it dozens of times and keep finding something new to get excited about. Eli is brilliant in this song. Home Free has dropped a new, My country tis of thee, with beautiful harmonies. You will love it
I’ve been waiting for your reaction to this!

Hi Mrs.😊 It was great to see you here & to have your input as well. This song is 1 of my favorite top 5. Great reactions. 😊❤️

I absolutely love this video Mortius! Mortimiss is such a great addition ❤ Yall are so cute together. Also you seem to be complete opposite of eachother which is really sweet.😊 Its so clear that you love her just in the way you talk, listen and look at her.❤

Me too
The layers in this arrangement are 🤌 chef’s kiss and one of their best works.
IMO I think it helps that Geoff, as the Bass, is the one arranging the songs. He knows his range and can go up or down as needed.
There is a actual full version of this song. But in PotC 3 thru only did the first verse. There are those that have sang the entire song. Love your reactions.
I LIVE for Geoffs vibrato.
Geoff wasn't just in the basement ..... he keelhauled himself!
Yes, Geoff arranged this :)
Love when Eli belts out!!! Great having the Mrs on again.
You could watch this video 20 times and still miss bits and pieces of the neuances of this cover.
Loved your reactions. You're a cute couple ^^ These cascading harmonies strongly remind me of Bach's Toccata.
Adam can almost get down to Tim's level. It is apparent during his "drum solo" bits during their concerts.
Its crazy how layne and geoff have the same lowest note but geoff used growl and layne used ingressive (he can probably go lower)
Loved your reaction and your wife is adorable! Being in Love, from the Music Man. I dreamed of playing Marian the Librarian, but oh so many years later I am perfectly suited to play Eulalie Mackechnie Shinn, the mayor's wife.
Nice to see the interplay between the two of you.
I love these guys so much!! Ty for doing this!! ♥♥♥ ( Today i am giving Caesar love :P .. they are all so fantastic)
Geoff held that last F1 like at least 6 seconds. That's a really breathe-y note, in chest. I'd need like an extra lung (assuming I could reach it at all)....
Eli belting out those high Cs (or should i say high seas 🌊) is insane!!
You're awesome and Mortimiss is just a lovely delight.

There are no words awesome enough for this!
OMG!!! She's Soo cute and you guys are so sweet! You're so completely opposites and a perfect match! And lastly but not least... That's a banger!!!
Kiera sings the song also when she is in disguise. The never shall we die was in a few of the trailers by the new pirates
Actually, he's not holding keys, he's holding shackles.
I loved the reaction from both of you!
you are the first i have seen to notice the sudden pause and continue and realize it is not so easily done.
This was so much fun! And I’m a fan of Mortimiss 😁
They did a great job with lighting as well! ... Guy
This was a fun reaction. You two are so cute together!
Cesar wasn't shaking keys, he was holding shackles in his hand and hitting them onto his leg....

Great reaction! Quite fun.
"pausing to muff" followed by "I'm not going to kiss you after that one." you have crippled me with twelve year old laughter...
Keep doing the duo, so nice to see.
I had not realized until re-watching... I miss Mortimmiss... she is so much fun!
You guys are adorable. I love you both
I gotta say, she kinda owned you there man. She's staking claim and not sure you can resist that force. "Mortimiss" Nuff Said.
Just FYI? The next release has a new record low from Geoff. 🤯
Sound of Music, Julie Andrews, song "The Lonely Goatherd".......i was very young, and hearing her sing that song...........wow!

You did not mention it, so did you catch that tasty stealthy F1(I think) that Geoff dropped at 13:51 ?
Oh my goodness gracious, I did NOT notice that! Thank you for pointing it out :D
I loved this reaction.
Side note, this dude looks like Buster Bluth on Arrested Development.
So cool that Mortimiss joined you. Do it again! 😊
And yeah, I subscribed.
Awww you guys are adorable
She's delightfully awkward, exactly my brand
If you like voiceplay and Geoff, then you will really love Tomi P. He is a bass singer who also does his own covers. He is also part of a collaboration with 3 other basses and they are called the bass gang. Tomi P has a 6 or 7 octave range if I remember correctly and came out with a cover of My Mother Told Me recently. Great reaction as always/
Tomi P is awesome and so is Peter Barber, one of the other basses.
I love your reaction to this! Also, I was wondering if you noticed that it looked like Layne had taken over the bass line when Geoff did the run up on his "Never shall we die" part for a bit before they switch back to Layne's vocal percussion?

The tool used for the rhythm is actually Cesar shaking his shackles.
Nice reaction, though. 😊👍
Your enthusiasm is wonderful, as always. Though I'm pretty sure there were multiple times it looked like your wife was going to break your arm for pausing when she was getting into it. :D
You know it is OK to listen to the whole thing again in the same reaction? 😉
I was sincerely tempted!!
@@officialmortius we don’t mind 😁
You DON'T pause too much. I like to hear the analysis.
More pauses = better at reacting/analysing in my opinion
this song was continued by Elisabeth as she paddled thru Singapore
Mortimus needs to make more appearances 🥰🥰🥰
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Let’s gooooooooooo!!!!
Your wife is great and funny, hope she comes back. 👍😊, greatings from denmark
