The Al Gore -Rhythm brought me here. I loved this video. You did a great job with it and the animation. I haven't thought about this game in forever. It's ripe for a remake, update or better prestige TV series. I did catch your disclaimer about source of the caliber information about the guns being unreliable. But I believe it would have to be MM not Caliber for them. A 30 MM cannon on a plane makes sense. A 30 caliber gun is a hunting rifle. The A-10 has a 30MM Gatling cannon. You couldn't shoulder fire a 30 caliber Winchester if the two terms were interchangeable. I looked it up. 30MM is 1.18 inches or 118 caliber. This is very well done. You should be proud.
I respectfully disagree and believe that the measurements are in imperial You're correct that a .30 cal is a rifle calibre but in the early to mid 30's that was in fact the standard armament for fighters with the US using the 30-06, the British using the 303, the Japanese preferring the 6.5mm and the Germans opting for 8mm. It wasn't until the late 30s that the various nations looked at mounting heavier armament to their aircraft. Given that this game is set in an alternative 1930s US an imperial 30 cal armament is very much believable
@@firestorm165 Thank you for your point of view. Maybe you're right. IDK. It's not a hill I'm willing to die on. But it seems like the video is using caliber and MM interchangeably and if they are doing that, it's incorrect. Be well.
@@null6634 The gun barrels look extremely thick for machine gun barrels so 30 mm canons would be my guess as well. Plus if we go historically most nations swapped out machine gun calibers to the more destructive canons as soon at it was feasible. Even the beloved american 50 cal. was replaced by 20 mm and 30 mm canons. If the "universe" is in a state of turmoil where air combat is the main conflict arena a push for canons as early as 1930 is more than likely.
