Very sorry to learn University Motors has closed shop. Hopefully, these videos will continue.

Hey, thanks! I was worried that my pressure dropped to 40 psi at idle. Not anymore.

very informative, however, I have a 77 mgb with a new engine, sitting dorment for about 14 years...never cranked over, but hand spun with about 1 quart of oil in pan. What is the best way to prime oil pump prior to initial start-up?

I'd renew the oil/filter, and run the starter-motor with the plugs out until pressure is seen on the gauge; replace plugs and start the engine.

But what is normal pressure at idle?

can I get oil pressure just cranking the engine over

Yes you can. If the engine has been sitting for a long time you may need to prime the oil pump. Do a search and you’ll find instructions on how to prime the pump.

    Hello John,
My midget 1500 engine goes to 100 PSI in 900RPM!!! Later pressure falls but not that much. As soon as I accelerate pressure goes wild again... I have changed oil (10W50 Castrol) & oil filter GFE150 twice. Bought new pressure relief valve (Spring, little piston) but this is not the case. I think because of this pressure now I have crankshaft oil leak :( Front & back. I have put engine flush now & will try to clean rocker shaft & change oil again. What do you think problem can be???

Did you put in the shims when you did the pressure relief
