A self taught pianist playing Chopin, and Ballade No1 of all things. Talk about jumping in at the deep end... Well done, if I was told you were classically trained I'd believe it.
Yea iv had two years of learning with a teacher, then I started teaching myself, when I stopped having lessons with my teacher I was just able to play Beethoven sonate op 49 no2
Nice work. Despite the piano being a wreck, a train blazing through at the prettiest moment, and 2 random people stopping to intensely stare at exactly the most stressful part of the piece. A little miracle in a train station.
Jesus, man you inspire me, not for the piano, but for the violin, if you can play chopin's fist ballade, and you're self taught! I can surely get somewhat close to your level with pure determination!
lol the lady that just clap. But this is truly amazing! I too was self taught until I went to a piano school so I can learn more things that I have never been taught by myself.
awesome! such amazing technique!! I too am self-taught, and play classical music by ear. I'm trying to teach myself how to read music. I'm glad to see that lack of training opportunities did not stop you from pursuing and mastering what you love.
Tip for every audience: start clapping when the performer puts both hands on their knees, that is how a professional performer lets you know it's finished.
Wow props to you for learning this pice by youself... espacially the last movement is damn straight Even tho you have a few mistskes Here and there but thats what makes it so beautiful
@Hirofumi chopin's pieces, especially this ballade, are extremely strict in terms of how they need to be played. you can't get carried away by your own interpretation
you're my inspiration. I too am now able to read music, but I still go on trying to learn pieces. So far I finished Pirates of The Caribbean by Jarrod Radnich.
Ive always really likes this video. Ive prolly watched it 10 times over the years. Have you continued practicing piano for the last 7 years? You are very talented!
No tanto.
I love how every single person is confused by the ending because it goes to I like 4 times in a row lol, never will know why chopin wants to confuse the non-knowers
Busoni bach chaconne.. well it's about the same level, maybe a bit higher. And an absolutely worthy piece of having in hands I can testify, you should go for it budd
Wait I just read down below, you don't know how to READ ? Is this some kind of joke ? Who the hell would so far in piano playing without at least take a few months to learn music theory ?
This is NOT a “self taught” pianist, but a pianist with obvious considerable training. He has technical ability, understands harmony, knows what is important in Chopin and for interpretation. Not that this is perfect rendition, but it isn’t a rendition of a “self taught” pianist.
Thank you, I spent a lot of time away from the piano reading about what it was that made up Chopin's own "style" I read every book and researched every source I could about his playing for years and I still havent found something that satisfies me as to how he sounded.must have been something beyond our understanding. and I appreciate the comment, but I basically locked myself inside for 3 months and did nothing but learn this piece with TH-cam tutorials.was extremely difficult and unpleasant and I dont think I'll be learning a piece this big again until i can read it from the score. Learning this by ear was not enjoyable but playing it is.
He has some training, but not professional. I’ve been self teaching myself for the past two years (only done classical music for the past 4 months though) and you can tell by how he plays some sections (namely the waltz, the first theme, and the reaffirmation of the second theme) with either iffy fits and starts or improper weighting of the left hand. Like the waltz has two melodies going on at once but you can’t even tell. Fantastic performance on his part, and he’s definitely self taught (at least mostly)!!
Wow only one person hung around to listen... For shame. Okay so a few people did. But still not bad for self taught. Got a little off on some of the chords towards the end (theme 4 g minor) but nicely done overall.
Codas difficult aint It lol good job tho man I'm self taught aswell I can't even read music lol I learn from synthesia. I need to stop being lazy and learn to read sheets really. I defo feel your pain when it comes to the coda of ballade no 1 though 😂
I'm just lazy af dude. If I actually made a serious effort I'd probably be able to read really quick. I just find the reading so difficult I just cant stick with it. Love playing though
@@SeanRooneyMusic yeah I'm the same I can read music but not very well. Im trying to push my self into switching from synthesia to actual sheet music it's just so much quicker on synthesia. Sheet music is better though as it has alot more information written in the piece than synthesia does
Try playing it REAL slow and practice the parts where you're not confident in/really fast and virtuoso. Edit: do some stretches and hanon exercises if you don't already(but I assume you do since this piece is really high level).
@@SeanRooneyMusic yeah thats cool but being self taught just mean it takes longer to learn im self taught too and i dont see why you couldnt just wait until you really mastered the piece why perform when you are not ready to perform? and its not like you had a deadline where you were supposed to perform on street piano but nice work anyways but like a week or month of practice more wouldnt hurt

@ivan y. If I taught myself Nocturne Op.9 No.2 in a month, how long would it take to teach myself ballade in g minor would you say?
