"Policy of Truth" is probably my favorite Depeche Mode song. "People Are People" is another big one from them.

The genre is Depeche Mode. The closest you'll get to this is Pet Shop Boys. Both are similar but a little different, and both are very interesting.

Dang it! You are hitting my favs today. This is a band you must explore- so industrial sounding- but profound lyrics. Behind the Wheel and The World in My Eyes are the two sexiest songs ever- (blushing old lady of 67 😬). People are People is a great socially conscious song- Soul with Me-- frankly just too many to mention

Depeche Mode were truly pioneers in the synth-pop genre. My first ever live concert in the early 80's...an unforgettable experience! Good song choice. You might want to try an early tune of theirs such as "Just Can't Get Enough" next, a completely different vibe!

I just saw them live last week, and they are definitely a band that thrives in concert. The album is the clear recording, but they bring life and soul to the stage. If you check out more, react to the concerts

Absolutely! I saw them last April at the very beginning of the tour, in San Antonio. They were amazing! 💜

"Everything Counts" was the first Depeche Mode song that I remember hearing back in 1983, or thereabouts, right before "People Are People" broke big. So listening to Depeche Mode always reminds me of high school in some way or another, even though "Personal Jesus" dropped long after I graduated. When you're ready for more from them, check out those two songs along with some of these -- "Just Can't Get Enough", "Master and Servant", "Blasphemous Rumours", "Policy of Truth", and "Never Let Me Down Again". "Never Let Me Down Again", in particular, features a very polished arrangement that sounds great in the car driving fast down the freeway in the summer with the windows rolled down. The piano in that one bounces between speakers in the bridge as some of the violins and synths do in later bridges along with the backing vocals in the fade out. But seek out a high quality audio version of the studio recording or you might miss out on those subtleties.

Depeche Mode has a huge catalogue of great songs. The rabbit hole runs deep my friend.
Since you mentioned blasphemous, you might want to check out their song Blasphemous Rumours. It has more amazing sounds you’ve probably never heard before.

So many tracks to choose from their 40 year career. This was a huge hit both sides of the Atlantic and has become a firm live favourite. But here’s just a few from their catalog that’s worth checking out to show their variety over the years, right up to this year’s Memento Mori album:
    Home
    Before We Drown
    Blasphemous Rumours
    Walking In My Shoes
    Get The Balance Right
    Strangelove
    Precious
    Cover Me
    Everything Counts
    Stripped
Those are just singles. Their albums are worth diving into as well. But one thing at a time :-)

First time hearing this band. Liked it. This is why I love reaction channels. They intorduce new music to some one like me who has no patience to listen to the radio. Thank you.

On the same album, policy of truth, and world in my eyes both are epic ! serious bro two of my all time favorites! Honestly, the whole album is the best synth pop album of all time, every song kills . Pure headphone bliss!

    And you're all alone

My understanding is that many of the lyrics were lifted directly from a televangelist they saw on late night t.v. one time...

This is such a good song about addiction. It's a close second to The Ruts Love in Vain. I'm so glad he managed to get off that crap.
