Gene Simmons saying that rock is dead while also putting in a big-name studio movie budget into what is essentially AI is the definiton of of hypocracy and selling out. This reminds me of a TH-camr called Kwebblekop, who thought it would be a great idea to replace himself with an AI version to run his channel. If the KISS Army has even an iota of intelligence, they will have the same reaction to this as Kwebblekop's fans did with Kwebblekop AI.

I have never been a kiss fan but this is just embarrassing.
Kiss really be like “I don’t care about our fans, I only care about their money”.
As a fan of Kiss, I think this has just as much of a chance to be cool as it does to be stupid. Mainly because ILM and the people who did the Abba holograms (which I’ve heard nothing but positive things about) are also working with it. And the the fact that the band also had an active part of putting it together makes it more legit and less of a cash grab than the Dio hologram from a few years ago in my opinion. But for something like this to work they really need to be smart about it and honestly undercutting their final show to announce it wasn’t a good start especially since it’s clear that the avatars need a lot of polishing. I feel like they should’ve waited to test it on the Kiss Cruise to see if people actually like it or not. The best way for this to work is if it’s a more small scale thing like something in VR or even a straight up video game could be cool, or keep the show in one fixed location (like Abba) and make it more of a fun little Kiss “experience” rather than a replacement concert. But if they try to make it too big or straight up not good, it’ll be just another forgotten Kiss oddity like Arena Football team they owned
So very well said, and don't forget the Psycho Circus 3-D concerts, played in stadiums with a technology meant for a movie theatre. The idea of 'a test audience' on a smaller scale is a good one. Albeit, the KISS Kruise is filled with obsessed and well-heeled basement-Kiss-Room 'tards who will buy dogshit from Gene Simmons pooch if it was for sale. Probably not the most impartial or objective crowd out-there.
@@EasyAsItSeems Gene Simmons has stated since Dec. 2nd he still prefers a living, breathing KISS 2.0 in the vein of the Blue Man Group. In a recent interview GS used the third-party term 'they're' when describing the forecasted dollar-amount to be spent on the avatars development. IMO that indicates KISS now has a third-party financial interest involved in business decisions.
This makes a lot of sense to the generation that frequented laser light shows inside the local community center.

Gene Simmons wants more money after his band’s retirement. Why am I not surprised? This band has always been mediocre who are more well known for their image, live shows, and merchandise than they are their music. Also, Gorillaz and Dethklok are still real bands even if virtual. Even Hatsune Miku would be more real than a virtual Kiss.

I love kiss. They were my first music love. I wouldn’t be a metalhead without having seen them in 2014. The reason I started drums. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

I liked them as a kid. But I haven't genuinely given a crap about their music since I was maybe 14. Only song I can listen to by them is "God of thunder"

I couldn't agree with you more! When news first surfaced of the Kiss Avatars at the end of their Dec. 2nd final show at MSG, this was not only ridiculous, but utterly laughable!! To top it off, investing $200 million in this CGI facade tells me that both Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley's remaining brain cells left the building a long time ago! If I'm going to ever listen or go see any Rock or Metal bands, Ghost, Steel Panther and Amon Amarth are the way to go, IMHO! Keep up the good work!

The good news is Gene Simmons has already stated since Dec. 2nd he still wants to see a living, breathing KISS 2.0. The AI avatars have already died-on-the-operating-table in KISS fandom, with the announcement of this poor-man's video game crap not happening until 2027. It's likely the push-back from real KISS fans, and the still extremely expensive technology which is making Gene (Simmons anyway) hesitant to embrace an AI only KISS. In the blabbermouth article you read on-video, did you notice Gene used the third-party term "they're" when explaining the cost of the AI avatar production. For a guy whom is obsessed with the control of spending money, personal wealth and highly possessive of the KISS brand, why would he say 'they're' when referring to future KISS business? Perhaps, part of the 'Brand' has been sold to a third-party enterprise similar to other heritage acts, like Springsteen and the Beach Boys. It's just a thought on my part yet Simmons alluded to the possibility of a partial licensing deal with a share of Brand revenue to an entity similar to Universal Music Group, as long as Paul and Gene could maintain some level of creative-control.

I love KISS (yes, I said it, shut up), they were the band that got me into rock, but this whole avatar thing is too much. But then again, it’s KISS. They’ll do anything to make some money, and this is no exception.

Yeah you can shit on them for making themselves into a franchise but I bet some of your favourite films milked the market as well. They haven't put out anything decent for a while but their live shows are fucking awesome. You don't have to go and watch the avatar show so i don't see why the sour grapes. It's not for us, it's for people who haven't been able to see them live and all they have are TH-cam videos or live recordings. Everyone seemed to love the abba show so I don't see why it will be bad at all.
