I have severe nerve damage in my neck's spinal cord due to a pinched nerve. Part of the myelin sheath has completely disintegration in the affected area and the doctor who administered the nerve test told me if I did not have surgery I could become paralyzed. During my consultation with my surgeon he told me the same thing. I had the surgery which stopped the progression however I will have Peripheral neuropathy for the rest of my life. The good news is Gabapentin has allowed me to live a full and normal life, I have not experienced any side effects even though I take a high dosage of 2700 milligrams a day. I do have some very slight weakness in my hands and legs but nothing major. Thank God for this medicine which has allowed me to maintain my physically active lifestyle. I just hope there is never a shortage of it.

Please be aware of this medication ! I was prescribed 900 mg daily for a week and half 300mg in the morning, middle of the day and at night! For anxiety and depression it increased my anxiety and made my depression worse this was also combined with trazadone 50mg this could have cause me high levels of dopamine and crashing at the end of the day it cause me extremely horrible ocd with my teeth i couldnt brush or even see my teeth without wanting to just cry it made me afraid of brushing so much and when i brushed i would brush away fast because i was so anxious i stopped this med right after being discharged from the hospital all i can say of this medication is that if you are normally a very sensitive person to gaba or caffiene dont try this med its horrible and caused me horrible pain with muscle pain it intensifies your pain idk why but it sucks alot

You used it off label, and trazadone is also an antidepressant, which have a tendency to exacerbate anxiety as well. Gabapentin is pretty well tolerated when used correctly, and it has warnings not to combine with antidepressants or sleep aids due to the mess it will make of your neurotransmitters. You had a crappy doctor.

Does it help for Tobacco, and or Opioid Withdrawal?

      Opioid somewhat, yes

Yes! It takes aways the restless legs and that feeling that your body is crawling out of its skin. All that goes away. The worst thing about opioid withdrawal, not sleeping for weeks. Gabapentin will help.

    • @shad3128

Helps for opioid and benzo withdrawal as its still a Gaba agonist and will alleviate a lot of uncomfortable symptoms and help rebalance your brain while you heal.
