I can’t help thinking, each time I hear him speak, that Russell is using religion to hide behind. His communication feels too contrived and well rehearsed.

I’d just like Russell to own the fact that he probably hurt others badly when he was an addict and had the power over others that comes with being a celebrity. That he honestly reckons with his effect on those other people and even apologises rather than just self self self. I’m listening but still just hearing a big ego talking. I’m glad he’s no longer an addict as that makes the world a safer place for everyone else. But I don’t believe he’s really changed deep down coz I hear no self reflection.

I used to adore Russell. His spirit, his joy, this beautiful vulnerability , something so real about him. I cant bear him anymore, I definetly don't think this is the real him, but I don't like it. He's arrogant, overly serious, controlling, just uses words in order to monopolise a conversation. Just loves his own voice.

Speaking on my authority as a half-century native of the Bible Belt: there are an awful lot of my fellow Christians who, when faced with the conversion of a person like Russell Brand, need to set aside their petty moral judgments and remind themselves that Jesus Himself said, right there in the red words, that a self-described Christian whose motives are not pure will not get into heaven ahead of prostitutes and tax collectors. He was basically talking about Russell when he said that.

Just as in the parables where everyone got paid the same for a day's work no matter what time they started and those who had worked all day didnt like it. Our ideas and that of many religious belief systems miss that grace.

I LOVE JESUS, and Follow Him in Obedience and Repentance. WHY are fellow Christians not sharing with him that he has to apologise to each of these women and repent. A deeply respected Agency TAVISTOCK WOOD released this statement after learning of these women. "...we now believe we were horribly misled by him. Tavistock Wood has terminated all professional ties to Brand." An Agency did better than numerous Christians platforms for women.

We have been given a glimpse into watching scripture in action before our eyes - he has become a new creation! When bad things happen to people, it's easy to fall back on religion. Brand is a narcissist and he is so desperate to be loved and affirmed that, without the wider media loving him, he turns to God. His Christian awakening is just another conformation of his absolute love of himself.

He knows what he did. As does everyone working the British comedy scene and TV at that time. Open secret. And anyone who tried to talk got slapped with a letter from his lawyers. Brand was financially worth too much to loose so it was all swept away. He is known for changing his public persona frequently-he will stick with being a Christian for as long as it keeps lining his pockets and getting him his views and publicity on his channel, once that is no longer happening he will flip to some other cause, as is his way. I am glad him having children has changed him for the better-but that makes no difference to the woman he hurt over the years.

Russell Brand has always admitted that he was (very) promiscuous; however, he has also always insisted that it was always consensual - and I have simply believed him, he was very convincing when he expressed that. However, I do believe the women when they told their stories in how Russell Brand treated them in his sexual predatory behaviour towards them - I found it quite disturbing. But I am not his judge and neither is anybody else. If his christianity helps him to come to terms with the fact that he doesn't have to lie about how he treated these women and that it is best to come clean and do whatever else is necessary to live a life that he can be proud of, good for him! Russell's response from the outset has been that all his relationships were consensual, so he denies that he committed criminal acts.
And at the same time he does own the fact that his former sex addiction was damaging to himself and others.
I've heard him admit in another interview that he did objectify women during that time - which is not surprising as this is what porn does.
He mentions the issue of objectification and seeing others as a means to an end again in this interview.
Given that the allegations have still not been brought to trial he probably still has to be careful what he says about the allegations, for legal reasons.
So that's probably why his response is very measured when speaking publicly about his case.
I think within these constraints he is being very honest and sincere about how it has affected him and his family, and how he has transformed it into an opportunity to deepen his own spirituality through his new found faith, and confront his own ego, and speak very candidly about his own shortcomings.
It's also commendable that he has chosen to continue and stay in the public eye, in the face of all the furore.
I personally couldn't stand him at one time, warmed to him when he became spiritually orientated and speaking out on social and political issues, came to feel he'd disappeared down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole.
I then had a revived interest in him when the allegations surfaced this time last year, but more recently my interest had waned again, because again his content is a bit too far down the conspiracy culture rabbit hole, and appears to align himself with right wing Christian values.
But this reminds me of the qualities that I do respect in: his intelligence and insights and willingness to be honest about his own short comings and past mistakes.

Christianity is a life path. Each day we take a step, always trying to move closer to the truth, light and goodness - to God. Sometimes we stumble, but each day we wake up and make a choice to take another step forward. This is where religion and its institutions many times confuses and hijacks the lost. We don't need the trappings of religion. Our spiritual relationship with God is a personal one, and the common-sense guidebook to Blessings (the Bible) lays it all out for us.
