    Just discovered Traction mode on my M240i. It's Comfort throttle response (which I much prefer to Sport for normal driving), exhaust flaps open on throttle, and even more pops/bangs/burbles on the overrun than Sport/Sport+. For normal driving with a stock exhaust, it's the perfect mode I think (although TC/DSC are partly off as you mentioned).

    Hi dear HappyDude, my model is a 2016 F31 328xi with M Performance exhaust. I am not sure if my car can adapt the same way you taught to open the valve 100% open, but if it works, we will hear the sound of the opening valve right?(the mechanical sound) I simply want it louder or can be controlled only when starting up. But I do agree with you, safety first when we are on different roads or professional tracks. Thank you so much.

    • @HappyDude1
      @HappyDude1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Normally this is for M models only . And sport mode is for when the engine is warm but You wont hear the valve over the exhaust note
      Check under the car if you have a valve and let some one else press the button

  • @lukasklupfel2927

    TRACTION mode actually deactivates the ESP while having a bit of traction control. Its the best and fastest mode for track. Sport+ is only for show off, the ESP breaks you in corners. Sport+ is for people who want to show off and drift a bit without the skills to drive ESP off. It's not actually fast.

    • @HappyDude1
      @HappyDude1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i have tested all modes on the track and the fastest on the track is to turn everything off
      dsc esp stability control traction.....
      But if you dont know the track or the car well it is very dangerous!
      sport plus is the fastest 2de choise
      because throttle response and gear changes are at there maximum capacity and traction control is at its lowest setting.

      i can yes :p
      i can even change it in V12 or V8
      you need to find a man that can program the sound module.
      the pop sound is because of a mixture of fuel and ignition so find a bmw engineer that change the engine ecu
      but if you do that your ignition and turbo and Cat will will wear out quickly .... good luck! :p

    I’d worked it out myself (f31 330d 2012) and come to the same frustrating conclusion as yourself.....no traction control option in sport plus mode...it’s one or the other 😐😤. I watched your video in the hope you had a resolve....but thanks for clarifying my frustrations, good video and lovely car 👌🏻. Wonder if it can be coded out?

    • @HappyDude1
      @HappyDude1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no you can not code that out :)
      you can change the diff, ecu and gearbox software if you know a very good bmw tuner.
      but it's better that the traction control is still on for 50 procent in sport plus, for safety :)
      it changes sow many things for each setting.
      bmw really know's what they are doing ^^ :)

    • @williamoakes664
      @williamoakes664 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HappyDude you say that and I agree from a safety point of view...but I’ve had lots of previous generation BMW’s and it was simple...get in a turn the traction control right off (I always had manuals before too)...now it’s the fact that the suspension stiffness and throttle sensitivity seem to become a disconnect to the TC, I really don’t see why!?
      Shame really.

      I know its complicated
      Modern times .... but people have a high standard now a days...
      But when you turn the traction off you also get way more throttle reponse for easy drifting.
      It is a well balanced setting.
      At least that is the case for every M car
      I think they did a good job now that i'm driving for a while with it
