- DRAMATIC moment hero vets save mother elephant's life with CPR and rescues baby from drain in Thailand.
The animal and her baby slipped into the 7ft deep hole during a storm which made the grass muddy and wet in Nakhon Nayok province, Thailand on July 13.
Vets were struggling to free the pair because of the torrential monsoon rainy season conditions. The distressed mother was also standing over her child to try and protect him.
Wildlife volunteers tranquilised the 10-year-old mother but she hit her head on the edge of the concrete structure - knocking her unconscious.
Worried vets immediately revived the jumbo when she was pulled out of the hole with a cherry picker crane. Dramatic footage shows three vets using their weight to put pressure on the animal's chest to wake her up.
The one-year-old calf was rescued shortly after. It took the team more than three hours to finish the operation.

You can hear a woman, most likely the vet, crying at the end as mom and baby walk back into the trees. She must’ve been so relieved. ❤️

Attitudes are slowing changing. Thailand has many nature parks now, where elephants can live relatively freely (with keepers still), instead of being used for tricks, logging or tourist riding. People are waking up to the possibility creatures other than themselves have the ability to suffer.

Soon as the mother started waking up. Everyone was like "ok time to go!" Lol. So happy the mother and baby were saved. That poor lady vet was really upset. Amazing people! Great job!

Vets are some of the most underrated professionals. They, too are doctors but generally, people tend to look down upon them because they think they "just treat animals" while ignoring the fact that they have to undergo rigorous years of study and practice before starting to assess, diagnose and treat creatures that cannot speak or communicate in our language. I bow down to these heroes.

Elephant rescue vids are some of the only things that will DEFINITELY bring me to tears. These are amazing creatures that, although they can be very dangerous to us, are also so majestic and intelligent and have a kind and gentle side unlike most any other animal. It makes me happy to see people so willing to help them.

Actually, the vet is the woman in purple shirt, the others are her assistants. She’s one of the most experienced vets who experts about elephants in Thailand . At the end she was so happy that she cried.

CPR....must have given it too much Tranquilizers...but they got it out Awesome.... impressed with how the baby was trying to protect the momma as well!
