    You jump from 180-600? It’ll take you longer with that jump than going from 180, 220, 400, 600!

    Does this work for stainless steel ? Not regular steel

    Well, you did achieve a partial mirror, but with all the scratches from the previous grits, so I have hard time calling this a 'mirror polish'. To get there it would take much longer with smaller steps in sandpaper. End the end of the day it is a question what result one wants to achieve.

    I respect the effort you put in, but that blade is chipped. Surely it would have been better to fix the chip before putting all that time into polishing.

    Do you use a Wheatstone to sharp the knife or any of your knives?

    Should've dabbed it with Flitz afterwards. Would've been a mirror. But great job.

    You can use buffer with compound for better mirror finish to remove the scratches. But if you going to use the knife everyday or in the commercial kitchen than it's fine just like that.

    this is so much easier to do with a abrasive powder suspended in something like oil. Youd be better results in 1/10th of the time. You can sand it with a few to maybe 400 or 600 depending on the steel, then switch to something like diamond compound and be done fast with greater results.

    Oh my god the critics on here always someone to put you down, I doubt any of you could get a finish like that it may not be a mirror finish but it's certainly a high shine that most would be proud of. and if you can do a better job then how about giving him / her advice to acheive that goal instead of putting him / her down.

  • @djpaintles
    @djpaintles ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should have used an intermediate grade between the 180 and 600. You wouldn't have had the longitudinal lines still visible in the finished knife.........

    • @djpaintles
      @djpaintles ปีที่แล้ว

      Stearated sandpaper can also help reduce the deeper grooves left from the coarser grades.

    Sand in an opposite direction with each grit. Easier to see when it's time to switch grits.

    • @Human_Evolution-
      @Human_Evolution- ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@shachar2 works well unless you're sanding an object that is hard to sand in a particular direction, in that case only go opposite on the lower grits. The higher grits don't matter as much for lines. I just did some balisong handles that were hard to do horizontally.

      He/ she use this knife for cutting, etc...
      Not for display show, so little scratch no problem as long as the knife is clean. Also the mirror finish help to release food so you will get that smooth cutting feel better than non-mirror finish.
      If you see most of the professional chef use mirror finish Yanagiba, sakimaru or Kiritsuke in sushi bar so they can have a clean cut.

    Does this method takes out minimum parts of rust?

    • @coozylifecookingoutdoor6083
      @coozylifecookingoutdoor6083  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Off course it is ! If your knife gets serious rusty part that I recommend you to use coarse sandpaper until to erase that point.
