Losing Terry makes me appreciate who we have left from that special time in the late 70s, and early 80s. This is also a great song. Love from Boston USA
I was fortunate enough to see Madness in 83 and in 86. Madness represents all that is great about British music. Between the Jam, Madness, the Smiths, and practically every album I own, British music has been the center of my life. Cheers from Boston, MA
This is a great and very underrated tune. Real people singing about real people. Ian Dury was also classic in doing this. This song and video, as an Englishman living in Finland, really makes me miss my home country. Especially as Covid has prevented me from getting back there to see friends and family. However much it upsets me, at least it makes me feel 🇬🇧🇫🇮
Just happened to be in Leicester Square on 31.3.21...and who should be there but Suggs promoting the new documentary on Madness, “Before We Was We”. Suggs is a charming man. Always loved Madness.
I've loved these since I was 8/9 because my big brother loved them too, that was 44ys {😲omg} ago... And I never met a partner who even liked them until I met my amazing hubby who has taken me to see them live TWICE now...an amazing live act and genuinely nice group of guys... Long live Madness 🕶️
so catchy !!!! madness write the finest lyrics n music since the early 80's ,every single one of them is an exceptional musician and suggs lyrics is like a poet ...x
I absolutely love Madness, House of Fun, was when I first got to know them. So sad they did not continue. What a voice, what a band. Boer greetings, from sunny South Africa.
Great song, reminds me of my younger days and that people you sometimes meet at bars & disco nights and you never see them again creating great and crazy memories.
Something very strange happens with you British, I feel rejection towards your politicians, a lot of rejection ... but I love your music, for my pleasure, the best bands are the British, Madness is a band that I heard for the first time more than 30 years ago and it captivated me ... and not to mention all the other bands recognized worldwide, Duran Duran, Iron Maiden, Beatles, Rolling Stones, UB-40, Dire Straits, The Shadows, Supertramp, Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Tears for Fears, The Police, The Cure and all the ones that I do not remember right now ... I just love the British music
Unfortunately, our "selections" for elections are no better and sometimes worse than other nations... but we remain positively gifted at heckling and protesting the political classes who's contributions to inspiring our musicians and songwriters cannot be completely ignored. Would the Brit Punk world have been so powerful and potent were it not for all the songs of protest inspired by Maggie Thatcher the milk snatcher? The clash, Joe strummer, strummer fest etc were HUUUGE culturally, socially and politically and when the iron lady finally popped off this mortal coil, there were still public service announcements urging the public not to hurl bottles of milk at her procession. Nobody showed up for her bollocks state funeral... everybody partied at the pub singing the strummer fest classic "We will laugh the day that Thatcher dies... Even though we know it's not right... We will dance and sing all night..." The British Broadcasting Corporation were also compelled to ban "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" so that they could circumvent playing that #1 hit anywhere... #Britainsrevenge #rustinpiecesironlady
Your my people i grew up with, your a band that always puts a smile on me face everyday i hear your tunes. Always remembered Madness. Take it or leave it hey?
When i knew Madness for first time in the early 90s in the local radio stations of my country Chile, i knew they would be my favourite ska band. I can say that since that time until now they are and will be the best ska band of UK and of the world. The only dream that I always wanted was have been in one concert of them.
Uncle Joe I was very privileged to see them 3 weeks ago in my home town Margate. Went on my own but I had to. My first record I bought was baggy trousers hooked since then. Make me smile all the time 💕
lesley james Yes, Baggy Trousers was their first big hit that had me bopping. I was only a kid at the time, but it certainly had an impact on me and lots of youngn’s.
I'm from holland and Madness is a big part of my life, just like alot of british music and comedy series, because the Brits have the same sense of dry humor as we dutch do!!
What a great Song, never heard it in the 80's as Madness were pretty Big news here in Australia back then, Funny thou this song makes me sad and im 58 now.
Brings back lots of fantastic memory's frm the late 7ties and early 80ties fell in love during two tone rise and had 2 lovely children a good job had it all at 19 music was magic vinyl then CDs loe itxx👍😁
The duality of the Line "Will I ever see you again, I wonder" stands out to based on the age of the bandmembers, many of those who made up the audience might not get a second chance to see them live and in person, be it because of their age or lack thereof.
60 over here. Fan since 1979. Still love the spirit of this band. Britains best export product. Love from Holland.
A national treasure, Madness are one of the finest bands we've ever had!
LOVE them
Grow up!

I agree. Am only re-discovering them after first listening to them in Britain in 1980. You didn't hear as much from them here in Germany.

Ska comes from Jamaica in the 60s. Bands like Madness are part of the second wave of Ska in the UK in the late 70s and early 80s.
