Thanks for casting Heir, I enjoyed this one with Lone Berserker. I fought this guy called HUNTER from Cat clan, the guy beat me 9-2 yesterday which is unheard of in my total war career, I’ll try to get more replays of his. He masters the initial engagements at cost effective price as has impressive micro.
The dogs I think are a good pick vs the Suebi; maybe hold them in reserve for lategame in the offchance that you lose your mobility and can't catch the Suebi skirmishers.
Good battle. Those War Dogs played a big part in helping the Roman player win by eliminating some of those Cimbri Bow-Women. War Dogs can be quite good if used properly. Also, as you said, once you get into a grind-out battle with Rome, you've basically lost. There's not much chance you can win that kind of battle against Roman troops. Thanks to the players for playing this battle and to Heir for sharing it with us.
That was an awesome fight. Cool to see how critical it is to capitalize on the strengths of the different factions. Rome's early aggression and disruption of the fast charge in the center came at a heavy price, but ended up being the decisive move by allowing Rome to survive until that late game grind which, as you said, is one of the areas where Rome excels.
It's exactly that reason why I always try to preserve skirmisher type units until the end when facing such tanky forces. If you let the game progress to such a situation where you have no choice but to go toe-to-toe, you already lost the game half way through the match. And that goes doubly so for Suebi whose force's stats but speed, stamina and charge are all inferior to most other factions. IMO, the iron rule of the faction is skirmish or die.
Always love seeing people play Rome, but it always peeves me when they blend Marian and Pre-Marian units. Personally I think they should be two seperate factions.
Neato. I just started playing Suebi. I'm curious why they didn't take more ranged units against Rome of all factions, or give them the runaround to take advantage of the slower and more easily exhausted Roman very heavies. Especially after the Roman dogs and cav were out of the picture.
Rome is basically cheat code in siege multiplayer, and people ban them a lot, rightfully so. On open land battle, Rome can be beaten with massive babarian sword spam or some horse archer / cataphract factions. If you pick non-barbarian factions and the Roman pickers ever tell you to limit horse archer / cavalry count to less than 4, then don't even bother to play against those guys, they are just there to rig the game in their favor while using cheat code faction at the same time.
@@Rellana1 parthia, Amerina and Saba can beat the roman on open land battle with horse archer or cataphract as long as you have decent micro. You don't need that many cataphracts in your army, 2 is more than enough to give the roman some beating. Of course you have to make sure those cataphract don't get stuck in melee combat against Roman melee cavs, which shouldn't be the hard part as these faction have much stronger and more cost efficient melee cavs. If you happen to pick Amernia, you can go for cheaper option aka persian cavalry. If you go for horse archers, make sure the other roman pickers don't limit your count to less than 4.
@@mateuszkubiak4434 I would say Kusk and Messeylia (Idk if I spell right) can beat the roman fair and square no doubt. Chariot and elephants are tricky to use and can be stopped quite easily, and the roman has tool to deal with it like syrian archer and their own equite cavs.
what about romans with aux pikes . or well micro'd jav skirmishers in a defensive posture. you are absolutely right it is very hard to beat them, but this game is confused as to how to represent historical accuracy and balancing multiplayer gameplay. even the single player is broken as rome unless you use mods! hard to win here . there is plenty of fun to be had regardless
Hello, there! Saying is harder than doing, but my impression here was: the suebi had too little spears to try to hold the Romans in place to try to surround the Romans with swords. And I think a turning point was to let the missile cavalry stray away, since the best way would be to tire the heavy infantry with horse skirmishers, while keeping the most of the forces in "fresh" status. When I play against infantry focused factions like the Romans, I always try to bring their best infantry to attrition with horse skirmishers. I'm also kind of mixed about spreading forces like this.
Good fight, but I believe there were some missed opportunities at the end around 10:00. The Cimbri Bow Women had ammo left and together with the wolf warriors causing fear, one volley of fire arrows might have routed the wavering roman units, leading to collapse of their army. At that point the balance of power meant suebi morale was still strong. It might have worked.
@@loneberserker4642 I see that, it would have really depended on timing. Finding the exact time one Roman Unit was wavering. But yeah, might have been risky
Don't most Roman troops have the "disciplined" trait? It negates or at lest LESSENS the impact of a General Death and makes them more likely to Rally when they route.
When people talking about anti rome factions i always thinking about parthia and pike factions especially parthia and nomad factions are only factions that can defeat rome with less troops than romans and about parthia if you don't want to bring horse archer you can use 1 elephant, 5 slinger, 4 cataphract and parthian swordman

@@bigcat5348 Agreed, & it also paid off having more units in general held in reserve to be fed in fresh late game.
That's cuz you are a noob bro

Hey Heir, I notice the Suebi seem to be rather popular in PVP at the moment. Nice victory from Sol. Invictus
this was a fun one between sole and I! Thank you for uploading this.

I have been truly enjoying all these Rome 2 replays!

agree! maybe they should have med "tiers" out of rome so you had to stay within a certain set in time of roman troops.
Legendary clashdown… Suebi vs Rome. Thanks for coming back to Rome 2 Heir! A lot of good memories😄

I was thinking Parthia or some faction like that would be able to skirmish them to death.

Love this game !
Loving Rome 2 content
Two heavyweights!!!
Rome empire vs Germanic history.
Would like to see someone using Maseyili, that’d be impressive
There is a guy name HUNTER from Cat clan, plays them to perfection.
What can you say? Roma Invictus!
If Rome has lots of heavy infantry that don't have great AP why not bring Sword Masters as Suebi? Don't they get better as they fight longer?
Nice

Forgot how OP rome is in this game
