Since my South Island theme seemed to be so popular, I thought I'd treat my listeners to the final piece to complete the Sonic OVA song-trilogy.
Like South Island and Look-A-Like, this is a Genesis/Sonic CD styled arrangement of the tune from the Sonic OVA. It plays during the running sequence when Sonic and Tails descend into the Land of Darkness to approach Robotropolis.
I tried to stick to the same sound and instrument settings as the other 2 pieces to help keep the feel the same. Because the original is short and choppy with the in-movie SFX over it, I improvised as best I could to flesh out the piece, even using some in-game SFX to bridge the loop.

Bro, you're on fire with these Sonic OVA songs. They're like the most legit recreations of the soundtrack, but in 16-bit glory. You should totally consider mastering them to sound like the Original songs.

I had assumed it wasn't, but it's hard enough to find a decent quality of the clipped version as is- let alone a complete version. But if you can point me in the right direction to a complete version, I'd love to update and re-upload a full edition!

Yeah they did come out a bit hybridized instrument wise. Perhaps I should reclassify them minus the Genesis part.. Retro, perhaps?

I haven't personally, no. But I am working on some custom music for a Sonic Mania Mod- Sonic Gaiden.

I know I'm really late to the party, but this sounds incredible! It's definitely my favorite track from the movie and it would be awesome if this was in an actual Sonic game. Awesome job!

You should remake this but with the newly discovered melody of the production demo version of the soundtrack (which i listened closely, it does make it into the final film. it's just covered by sound effects.) that might be a treat to listen to.
Had been considering re-doing these anyways with more accurate instrumentation, so maybe I'll see if I can incorporate the extension. Thanks for the suggestion!

Is there any chance you could remix the battle theme from the Sonic OVA ? I love your remixes and i would love to hear to the battle theme in 16bit.

When I was doing all of these, I had considered doing that one as well, but it uses a lot of elements from Look-A-Like and was al little repetitive overall, so I held off on doing it thinking it might not be interesting enough for most listeners. But if demand is high enough, perhaps I'll consider revisiting it sometime.. (and if that's not the song you meant, then please correct me! It's been a long while since I've seen the OVA, so some of the background music may not come to mind right away)

Sounds more like the Amiga than the Mega Drive...
That's fair. At the time, I didn't have a full range of MD/Gen instruments to choose from, so I had to take some liberties with higher quality synths and try and bitcrush them down a bit to sound more 16-bit and DAC-esque. Sometimes it worked out, but other times, it really sticks out like a sore thumb.
I hope the lack of full authenticity didn't ruin the experience for you too much, but I do thank you for giving it a listen none the less!
@@SoundOfAShadow You can try BeepBox and it's FM instruments... I use this web program all the time.
You can run the WAVE file of the BeepBox song through a program like FL Studio if you want to add your own drum samples.
@@mypkamax I actually have a much more accurate instrument library nowadays, but when I made this (and it's OVA counterparts) a good 6+ years ago, I just didn't have access to everything I needed to make it feel as authentic as a true Genesis/Mega Drive piece. Maybe I'll get around to remaking them one of these days!

The Land of Darkness theme on itself is already similar to Sonic CD US OST, specifically, Quartz Quadrant Bad Future, so it fits perfectly :3

Not sure that there's anything else from the Sonic OVA I could do. South Island, Land of Darkness, and Look-a-Like are pretty much the main 3 from the Sonic OVA, or did I miss one? Unless, of course, you mean from other OVAs?
actually is this going to be in Sonic freedom because one of your Genesis arrangement of South island on the trailer and both of you are great and I hope that Sonic freedom will be a demo version and full version soon
Thanks for the support! I think, as of now, my South Island theme is just a placeholder for the trailer he made. But I have offered tripplejaz to use any and all of my tunes as he sees fit for his project. The final call will ultimately be up to him, but I whole heartedly support his project and can't wait to see it progress!

I do have access to some SNES soundfonts, and did a Megaman X/Link to the Past crossover tune, using them but it didn't seem too popular so I've stuck with Genesis stuff for now.

Not currently. I've been trying to find a place that I'm comfortable with hosting them at, but a lot of the more official sites have copyright rules (since these are arrangements and not 100% my own work), they're skeptical to let me upload them there.
But I know a handful of individuals got tired of waiting on me and have since ripped the audio from the YT videos and re-uploaded it in various places- a quick google search of the title of the song, followed by "genesis arrangement download" should set you up with a link to whichever one you're looking for. Or feel free to use a converter of your own.
I'll eventually have them all uploaded as one downloadable "album" complete with metadata (the text that shows up in an mp3 player when the song is playing) and some sort of album cover as well, so stay tuned for an update on that. In the meantime, get it wherever you can find it. I'm just glad people are enjoying my work enough to want to add it to their music libraries and playlists. I can't even be mad lol.
