Wagenmakersvallei was renowned for the exceptional quality of wagons that were exported also to America, Australia, Europe, etc. Many of these tough wagons survived centuries of abuse and are being restored. An interested book about the Wagenmakersvallei wagon building trade was recently published. I suppose the offices of the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria may have further information. Thanks for this rather unique video.

During the latter days of Hitler's war, my Dad attended school in Koringberg. He was in Gr 8 or 9 when he made a rocket and promptly blew up the only cave, unintentionally. Dad passed away in December 2022

Is there anyway to get permission to ascend the pass?

If you're a member of the Mountain Club of South Africa or involved as a volunteer with Cape Nature - yes. Otherwise no.

One shouldn't worry about the "dangerous" passes. Just drive on the horizontal surfaces. I grew up nearby. Roads are safe; it's users that pose danger sometimes. 😊
