Maybe he is a closeted fan; Obama represents the fans that think the show died with Monty, Trump represents the fans that actually enjoy the directions the series went in, and Joe represents the people that secretly watch it but would never admit it.
I think he watched part of Hbomberguys video on it so that's why he knew since it does play that scene.
I love how literally EVERYONE can agree that the Red Trailer is phenomenal. Monty was a madman.
To be fair, there's zero dialogue in that trailer compared to the others, not even any lyrics. Just pure action and carnage, which is a beat everyone can dance to.

@@itzzbowserjr Yeah, I realized that soon after I made that comment, but couldn't be bothered to edit. And besides, the lyrics are only in the beginning, which I think does add to the atmosphere without detracting from the sheer violence that comes after.
It was phenomenal in terms of action choreography and music direction.
But looking at it as a part of RWBY, it broke the worldbuilding, even this early. Literally the first thing we see of RWBY broke the worldbuilding by having Ruby effortlessly demolish those beowolves. She's not considered a strong fighter, and she's not yet a full hunter, and these monsters are meant to be the things that threaten all of humanity. This sort of contradictory worldbuilding is a result of their absolutely abysmal ability (or refusal) to plan. They say one thing, and then show another.
Heck, even Toriyama doesn't suck this bad at worldbuilding. Sure, the man doesn't plan for future arcs very well, and he flies by the seat of his pants, but he does an alright job with it...at least in comparison to RoosterTeeth.
This is probably the best debate these guys have ever had.

I’m a RWBY fan, but I’m one of those fans that knows it’s faults but still likes it, and I respect other people’s opinions about it and don’t act all toxic about it. Does that make any sense?

I mean I think it's one of the best shows I've ever seen. It's not perfect and I still love it. The action and character-dynamics hard-carried volume 1 and 2, after which story and character- dynamics hard-carried volume 4 and 5, finally reaching a middle ground in volume 6. Then 7 and 8 improved on both and made the better then before. (but the fightscenes in 4 and 5 i think are still good some amazing. Just some that are clunky at times, but mostly just feel different from Monty's)

Honestly idk how to feel about the show anymore on one hand i genuinely think volume 9 is pretty good so far but the previous volumes I just didn't like for so many reason like the best I can say about the series now is I can see why people like it but for me it feels like a mess that doesn't know what it wants to be.

My biggest gripe with season 4+ is that literally every drama the group has would be solved if they sat down and actually talked about it for like 5 minutes. The drama is getting stale because it always happens the same way with one character throwing a tantrum and another avoiding talking about the problem.

Never thought I would agree with Trump, but my mindset for the show is in line with him. When the trailers came out, I thought maybe Yang was like a bounty hunter looking for Blake (who was part of the White Fang), Weiss was a celebrity or something that wanted to prove she could fight so also was going after the White Fang or the Dust robberies, and Ruby was maybe like a guide through the woods to fight off the Grimm. They would find Blake and learn she is now fighting against the White Fang and they form a team together. Either way, I was expecting a show very similar to the events after Volume 3 and the Fall of Beacon, with the main cast traveling the outskirts of the major cities going from place to place instead of them going to the equivalent of a magical academy.
As far as the Justice League/RWBY crossover, I feel like the comic did it better with the JL members just being people with Semblances that were the same as their original counterparts. The fact that the JL got transported to Remnant is were also de-aged to match the ages of the RWBY characters is kind of creepy.
Obama kinda was spittin'. Really liked the charm the first 3 seasons had. Not against the desire to be more story-driven, but a lot of the plot seems to meander since Vol 4, and writing can be borderline insulting around in certain parts of 5,7, and 8 (especially 5 and 8).
P.S. They do need to stop putting my girl, Yang, in a potato sack.
This is probably the most accurate comment here. Volumes 5 and 8 are the worst the series has had to offer and without Monty's choreography, it has suffered since volume 3 onward. I still think RWBY worked better as a monster of the week sort of show in the first 3 volumes than this overarching save the world plot onwards.
@@BoxyBrown717 The save the world plot was handled very badly and they had zero idea what to do once outside of the academy setting. They should've stuck to the school mystery setting and plots for longer - there was room to do saving the world without having to wander a wilderness they clearly had no idea what to fill with.
And hoo boy, the racism plot was SOOOOOOOOO badly handled. Just... thrown there without doing anything with it, and then using the Black Panthers analogue as disposable mooks. Really a bad look.
@@BoxyBrown717 I actually didn't mind 5, like yes it was bad, but I feel a lot of the worst parts about it were due to the really bad setup in V4 (except Weiss, her fighting style devolving is idiotic), which had exposition which somehow managed to tick every box in a "how not to do exposition" guide.

Volume 5 is bad not just because a large majority of it was exposition, but it's the most technically inept volume with a lot of rushed animation and choreography. The whole Haven fight is an absolute mess. Volume 8 on the other hand I consider the worst written of the volumes and I find it and volume 5 compete for worst volume for me.
Actually, the latest volume is pretty great, and nobody is more surprised than the fans.
Is RWBY peak fiction? *_FUCK NO..._* But I'm at least able to enjoy it for what it is. And Vol.9 has been interesting so far.
Finally someone else who recognizes that something can have flaws and still be enjoyable.
More people need to try and enjoy things for what they are, not what they COULD be or what some think they SHOULD be. It makes life a lot more enjoyable imo
After me hating Volumes 5, 6, 7 and the later half of 8, I am actually enjoying myself with V9.
It may not be the best fiction, but it sure does produce some of the best fanfiction! Some of the stories are more interesting than most million dollar films I have watched.

@@johnathonyoung4799 You will have a much better time watching it than we did. Half the struggle was having to wait weekly for these episodes which only made the pacing feel worse. You having access to the entirety of volumes 1 - 9 at once will make it easier to digest.

I feel like he meant that in a double edged sword type of way, where yeah it's a very good weapon ( in setting ), but also you kinda need to know how to use a scythe at all in order to *not* cut yourself in half with all of the twirling you need to do to make a weapon like that good ( once again, in setting )

There is a reason why Huntsmen and people like them exist in setting. Regular people simply can't fight against Grimm on a large scale.Aura strengthens as much as it protects, so yes, Crecent Rose is a good weapon in setting, for it's impractical weight doesn't matter as much for someone who can run fasted than a speeding car, and can handle the recoil of 50 bmg without even changing their stance.
Yeah.. hence why its a dangerous weapon because its dnagerous to use the fucking thing. There have been 3 scythe wielders in the series, two of them are arguably the greatest huntsmen of their generation and the protagonist trained by one of said huntsmen.
People that think the action was BETTER in volume 3 and down are INSANE. It wasn't bad, but watching it back it's not NEARLY as smooth as later action scenes. Fun? Sure. But I literally watched Yang and Blake vs Adam like 30 times because the choreography was SO GOOD. That scene is a great example of showing off fighting styles, then adapting those fighting styles to a specific opponent. Writing being better is debatable, but god the animation pre 4 was... ugh. Still loved it, but it's hard to go BACK to it.

Ngl, the presidents portrayed most of the opinions of the show pretty well, and i can agree on most of what they said. The action In the Monty Era was spicy as hell but there wasnt much of a story, and whilebthe action in the later volumes hasnt been the best( *cough cough*Volume 5*cough cough*) things are getting better and i like how the plots going for Volume 9.

bloody hell, am not gonna deny half of what was said here, RWBY had its charm but story telling and character development werent among them, Icequeendom got those parts covered, however the biggest issue for me has always been the inconstancy. Also Regarding the outfits, i prefer Ruby's outfit in Vol 1-3, same for Weiss but her 3rd outfit isnt too bad, hair, that was horrible, Blake wasnt that bad but the color scheme didnt sit right with me, as for Yang i feel like her outfit never changed.
