QD (a year later): I bought my third pair of Hoka’s the other week (Clifton 7s) and the heel felt loose. The guy at Runnulla asked if I do a runners knot? I looked at him funny and he got down and tied my shoe for me and wow, soooo nice! My 11yr old said it was cute to see someone teach his dad how to tie his shoes! 😂
The Runner's Knot has proven ESSENTIAL to my running since high school(15 years). Without the knot my soleus muscle and occasionally the medial head of my gastrocnemius get unbearably tight and fatigued while running. Causing prolonged recovery periods that cripple training. Symptom of my skinny ankles and my running mechanics I suppose...Anyway, GREAT JOB sharing this golden nugget of running wisdom! Truly enjoying your channel.
I had a pair of yellow 2018 kayanoz, after maybe 1300km I upgraded to 2019 gel nimbus, petty similar shoes to be honest but I had so many GREAT runs on my kayanos(being my first running shoes) I still think of them when I think of my running shoes 😍.. PS...I actually had to use google to find out that I have the Gel nimbus now😂
@@Dennis-de1ji I've got 2160km on mine, still going strong. Gonna upgrade in summer 2020 to the kayano 27, but this time one pair for daily and one for running
I know this is an old video, but I just wanted to thank you for improving the fit of my shoes. I didn’t know about this and have always thought I needed to size down and deal with crowded toes. This worked amazingly well.
Love this. I have never heard of a runner’s knot, and now I’m doing it. I have not needed the extra tension in the heel, but the better fit around my ankle is perfect for securing laces and getting those out of the way. I already feel less annoyed. THANK YOU.
I just learned the runner's know today after one year of running. Shoe laces on my Brooks Ghost is not long enough though. Thanks for this video, really nice to know.
Funny thing: I bought new shoes today and the shop assistant just used this method (but only on one shoe). When I was home I thought I have to use this knot on the other shoe aswell. I figured it out myself after a while but I talked with myself the whole time like you do, when you try to figure something out (or because I´m weird lol). At the end TH-cam recommendation did a great work with hearing my voice through my phone and brang my to this video :D Thank You :)
This runners knot really helps. Solves the problem with my new Sauconys. Also love the story about the running coach. Reminds me of the track coach from my club
I absolutely LOVE the Runner's Knot. It helps give that secure feel to my narrow heels. I learned it from the GOOD FEET STORE while I was being fitted for orthotics. I was a CC runner, back in the day. Having flat feet and now a ghost knee injury from running miles past, I no longer run but enjoy swimming, yoga and pilates, and of course an occasional hike through the woods. Love your motto! So many types of beauty underlie our world and individual existence. Training myself to recognize true beauty everywhere, every day.
You have no idea how pumped I am to try this tomorrow! I purchased some Pegasus and I’ve worn them maybe three times this year because of the non stop slippage in the heel.
Just got back into running after years recovering from an injury and this is my first time knowing about this. It really helps a lot and the feel is much better. Thank you Seth. Peace and love from Singapore 🇸🇬
GREAT JOB sir!!!! I just come across your vlog and I am very thankful for sharing it. I've been running for a couple of years now and tomorrow will be my first time to try this Runners Knot. I think it feels comfortable. Thanks a lot. God bless. from Butuan City, Philippines.
I never tried the runners knot and it was the first time I see one. I tried on my pegasus 35, that I have a heel problem, and it was great, I didn't feel my heel loosened from the shoe. Thanks!!
I came here to watch a video on how to better tie my shoes, and I still stood till the end of the video. This is my first video watching you and I like it, nothing more nothing less!🤝💯
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’ve never heard of the runners knot but I tried it this morning and it has been wonderful! Kept my foot from sliding around when I run.
Ran my first 5k in January 2020 in 32 minutes (not in dedicated running shoes mind you). Wasn't the fastest I know, but I'm more determined this year about running longer and getting faster on different terrain. I love your enthusiasm and encouraging words. Never heard of the runner's knot but I will use it from now on (your explanation was spot on). thank you Seth.
Thanks for the lesson, just laced up my new Saucony Guides with the runners knot for my first time and will test them out tomorrow morning for an easy 6 miles!
I've just finished my running session (1.30h) and i have to say, i am so happy that i discovered this video, thank you SO MUCH. My asics combined with this knot are fantastic
Thanks, I watched this vlog before one of my runs and liked it and ever since I used this knot and it has saved me in two races when my shoe came untied it stayed to my foot just because of this knot.
I believe I first heard about this knot like last week from EddBudd but I googled and your video came up, kudos to both of you. I legit have a Top 5 as far as running channels go and the 4th and 5th kinda fluctuate a little but your channel has made its ways up there, Thank you man.
This video probably single handedly kickstarted my career. I was forced to get into running in very early 2020 as I had just enlisted in the USMC. I knew absolutely nothing about running form, shoes, cadence, etc… after much trial and error, I stumbled across this video and suddenly, I was able to run without injuring myself and was able to shave valuable minutes off my run times, allowing me to eventually handle the stresses I would later endure. With that being said, thank you for providing great content that really does help people :)
A must for my narrow heel! Couldn’t figure out why every single shoe wasn’t fitting quite right and my feet kept slipping (I lost SO many toenails before this). Like you, a running store rep taught it to me (also had no idea it had a name). What a game changer!
I am a master carpenter/joiner I have been shown many many trade secrets from when I was a kid learning my trade skills that I'd never seen, so when someone says they have a much better way of doing something I've learnt to give it a try rather than my way is the best and only way. So I have just put the runners knot in my Nike Air sequent 2s and I absolutely love it to bits mate this has got to be the best thing I've been shown for years and when I'm just popping out over the shop I just tuck the ends down inside my trainers and they stay quite tight great tip muka thanks Paul (wolves).

Just tried the knot in conjunction with the Black Toenail knot... perfect for what I need on trails!! Previously my heels were suffering to accommodate the rest of my foot which has been a safety issue. Many thanks for the improvement:)))
Lacing up with this video for the Bull of the Woods trail marathon in Taos NM right now! Thank you Seth! Also watched your Mt Elbert videos today for inspiration .
I use the runners knot on every shoe, every day (except Salomon quick lace shoes). Like you Seth it was 20 years ago at a small local running shoe store in Lincoln, Nebraska the owner showed it to me and have used it ever since!
Are the Pegasus 39 not up for this kind of knot? For the life of me, by the 2 last holes I'm barely left with any laces, definitely not enough for the double knot (or any knot) after the loop thing. Maybe runners buy longer laces or something?
Knot. Excellent!! I wished I had known about this knot a long time ago. I always have had a problem with my heel slipping. Btw, your lips are showing some symptoms of dehydration. Keep up those fluids. Chicken soup always makes you feel better. I guess that's the nurse coming out of me. God bless.
I started using the runner's knot a few months ago when I first saw a video floating around on Facebook that talked about it. I love it. Not only does it do a fantastic job of locking my heel in place, but I've also found that my knot lays a lot "flatter" on my shoe (if that makes sense) than it did with a traditional knot, and I don't think I've ever had my laces come untied--and I don't even double knot!
