    Very many thanks for your utmost accurate explanations!! They're a huge help. For Spanish speakers we usually resort to similar structures in our native language. Conditionals in Spanish are similar (never exactly the same, though) to their English equivalents. Thus, we learn/teach them contrastively. Wish you all the best!!

    1st: If I buy a camera, I could take amazing photos. (possibility, likely to happen)
    2nd: If I bought a camera, I would take amazing photos. (hypothetical situacion, unlikely)
    3rd: If I had bought a camera, I would've taken amazing photos. (imagined past)
    Mixed: If I had bought a camera, I would take amazing photos. (present result of a past action: I bought a camera, so now I can take amazing photos)

    If you see Dead Poets Society, truth, you hear Robin Williams saing the phrase Carpe Diem. But whether you hear Carpe Diem it's probably you will believe that it means live the present, and not the opposite which is seize the day. Now, unless you believed the opposite which is improbably, you would understand the actual meaning of the phrase. That is, if you had understud the meaning of the phrase, which is impossible, you would had known seize the day instead just seing movies.

  • @isabellina9600
    @isabellina9600 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't believe this. I had a lot difficulty understanding the conditionals, but you were so incredible giving this explanation that everything became so easy and simple now. One question: I also have difficulties with "I wish" . Could I use them on time line too or not? You could one day make a class of this topic so easy how was the conditional? Thank you. I apologize to you for my English but I've been studying alone for a year, so you'll see some mistakes.

  • @ФирдавсФайзиев-щ2я
    @ФирдавсФайзиев-щ2я 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Carpe Diem is also used to meant seize an opportunity. I fully agree with your explanation and statement but I guess we all use Conditionals and Mixed Conditionals in our native language as well but we don't have troubles using it. It all comes down to us naturally. What I want to say is that we can also learn Conditionals through our native language. Conditionals are real headache for many non native English speakers, especially the third and fourth types of Mixed Conditionals. We can learn Conditionals effectively if we use it everyday. Why we can use all Conditionals effectively in our native language but not in English. It is because I guess we don't use English in our everyday life. This is what makes Conditionals a real headache and hard to grasp. Your explanation and statement is clear and perfect. Cheers to you!

    If i had studied i would HAVE passed... Why u said that there is PASTperfect in the both parts if the second part (with HAVE) is in the PRESENT perfect??

    • @snowy0110
      @snowy0110 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think the reason is that natives think about present perfect as a past tense (something has happend), and both tenses are perfect tenses, that's why he mentioned it as both past and perfect.

    (7:02) "If I HAD studied, I would HAVE passed." I think that in your examples, the auxliary verb "have" pronounced in an emphatic way underlined the time past. Am right? if were it the opposite? "If I had STUDIED, I would have PASSED."? What kind of information that conveys?

    • @Canguroenglish
      @Canguroenglish  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mauro! There is no necessity to use intonation in the ways you suggested above. You can say it however you want! Obviously how you intone will bring emphasis onto certain words, but this doesn't affect the meaning.

    Thanks, Chrisrian for "the conditional timeline" and the" carpe diem". It very good to know that carpe diem means more than to live to the present day. It means we have to do most on the present day for that reaching our future aim. This is the second lesson where you explain to us the conditionel. In the first you spoke about the mixed conditionel which was a novum for me, as even the tests expect from us to use these four forms. But the mixed form is also very frequent. For example I can say my friend this sentence who would like to o o the oarty. "I would go to the party if they had sent an invitation to me. Sorry, they sent me any nvitation that's why I don't go with you."

    • @Canguroenglish
      @Canguroenglish  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can substitute any verb in the apodosis of a conditional with any modal verb. And then this creates the so-called 'mixed conditional', as per your example. It's weird, but as you say it's really common!
