I can attest to the beauty of having the Magpul MBUS Pro offset sights on a rifle. I have them on a couple of my ARs. While hunting white tail deer in Central Texas with 6.5 Grendel build, three does came out of a grove about 50 yards away to my right. I had seen them the day before, so it took a moment to register when a buck followed behind them. They didn’t see me behind a fallen tree. By the time I got my rifle up, they were 30 yards away. I knew I wouldn’t have time to get my scope on him, so I tilted my AR and used my 45° offset sights. Obliterated his heart from 15 yards away. He made it about 10 yards before collapsing.

As someone who isn't rich, I thought alot about what rifle would "carry" me through different places or situations. I decided on the SFAR. I figure a 308 could drop a buck or b!tch if need be. The ar platform is great as well
I am a poor guy and cannot afford a Giesly trigger, even though I would love to have one. I picked up an inexpensive AR-15 clone, the first thing I did was change the single-stage trigger to a two-stage trigger, even an inexpensive 2-stage trigger makes follow-up shots much faster.
I’m definitely a two stage preferred person. However in no way is a Geissele 2 stage faster than a cmc single stage. Not bc one IS FASTER than the other but given identical lb breaks they are virtually the same function wise and only separated by preference and most importantly training. (this goes for most higher end single or two stage triggers). Not to knock the comment, if you purchased a decent single stage the follow ups may even feel faster depending on brand. Hope you get to try more out.
As for the offset irons, looks like the laser will be in the way on the right. Perhaps an etched glass red dot is the answer. Lol, the problems we face. But I certainly appreciate the talk through, it is helping me roadmap a future layout. God bless.
I've been listening to a lot of discussions on general pupose rifles for use outside the home. I'm now in the camp that any such rifle should have magnification on it. RDS w/ magnifier, ACOG w/ piggyback RDS, LPVO, etc. There seems to be a misconception that "urban" = CQC, at least there was for me at one point.
Great information about extra things to consider to buy. Since I have bought rifle and pistol 22's. It seems these weapons are getting a bad rap. I wouldn't mind buying a suppressor for my rifle but everyone is saying it isn't worth it. When you said about night time engagement, it has got me thinking about what would anyone do
Man that's a beautiful rifle and setup! Quick question: For SHTF why did you decide on a 10.3 pistol suppressed? I would imagine that would be a lot of stress on the BCG, and it would get pretty filthy given the attached suppressor. Why not a short piston setup instead? I'm interested in hearing your perspective. Best!

Suggestion: there is a place for the Daniel Defense grade rifles and all the ammosexual accoutrements and I enjoy the tactical candy as much as the next person, however, it would be beneficial to spend an extended episode getting trigger time behind the practical tactical options where basics are point and shoot, (hopefully not point and click,) and credit limits aren't de rigueur. With all the high mount craze, yeah Im ine of the Guys that bought the hydra mount for my xps3 , now Im leaning towards running my optic on my stock top rail , a lazer/light setup , just a simple effective set up without loads of crap hanging off my rifle👍
I like the .300 round and I have the 300 Blackout, and it needs a tune up, that said, I also need a suppressor and mine is only good for CQB, that is what is what it was built for and inside of 100 yards, the 5.56 is No Match.
Reminds of the RV in the movie Stripes, the “Urban Assault Vehicle”. That was funny. Wait, so are you. I am not paranoid enough to get an urban assault rifle. Except for zombies.
He already had a suppressor so he was already on the ATFs list. Just get a suppressor and an SBR. At the same time let’s revoke the NFA and all other gun laws and shutdown the ATF.
I like how lightweight the gas system is on Mk18, and quick recoil impulse. But I prefer the PWS MK111. It has a piston system that runs cooler, cleaner, better suppressed, and mlock handguard is lighter than quads, and less aggressive against your clothing when slinged. I think short barrels and short gas direct impingement systems are hard on barrels and buffer springs. The PWS seems to be a well sorted Mk18 sized weapon. And much lighter than HK416
My one critique is the lack of magnification. Even in cities you have long sightlines, and tactically knowledgeable people are more likely to choose to engage you at range. Additionally, people will hide behind cover, so you want magnification if someone is leaning behind a wall or over a car.
You think he's going to be sitting in those long sightlines? Way more important to have a sight that you can acquire a target quickly. That gun will be good for any engagements up to 500 meters. Magnification doesn't equal fast target acquisition for most combat ranges. Of course, there will be some pros for having a DMR or sniper rifle. That is a given.
@@112233JORDAN first, it’s hard to find areas in most cities, outside of being in interior rooms in buildings, where you can’t see or be seen from 100 yards, and it’s very easy to end up in a 300 yard sightline. Second, most people have a hard time engaging targets at 100 yards with no magnification, even a good shooter like Noir probably can’t consistently shoot at 500 without at least some magnification. Thirdly, because people hide behind cover due to not wanting to die, torsos aren’t the target, arms and heads are. A head sized target at 200 yards is hard to hit without magnifying it. And fourth, I wasn’t talking about a Sniper/DMR system, I just think he should have an LPVO or a magnifier behind that red dot. He will still get the fast target acquisition, he just will also have magnification to engage targets at range or behind cover more easily
Sadly I can't afford that setup lol. It's beautiful though! My SHTF setup is a S&W M&P AR, changed a bunch of parts. Has a quad rail, the same pop up iron sights, light/laser, and a Romeo-5 pro red dot. The grouping is PERFECT and I know I will not miss. I use it for hog hunting as well.
@@kerbalairforce8802 that only works well in a fight if the riser for the optic is QD. So, any option that doesn't allow for co-witness should absolutely be on a QD mount. His riser is definitely not QD. His optic isn't QD either. It is mounted on the riser by tightening that nut you can see. If that is clamped down and/or blue locktited (which it probably should be) then you're going to need a tool to remove it. So, really, he need to change the riser to something that's QD, or just ditch the BUSes and hope for the best.
Dude! just a suggestion but if you are looking for a stock for better aesthetics I suggest trying the new Reptilla RECC-E Stock I think it would make for a great aesthetic addition. I would have one myself, but I "am poor" and cannot afford such luxuries.. awesome content by the way!
I probably over speak on the 300 blackout but I love my DDM4 PDW and I wonder why more people don’t have a setup for that caliber. No you’re not hitting 5.56 speeds but it still breaks 2,000fps and if you’re close quarters and need something short that is small and heavy hitting I always recommend. Especially because if you’re running a suppressor anyways you can slap subs in there and get super quiet and still have full ballistics even at shorter barre lengths. Of course that’s just me and yes it’s more expensive 🤷🏻 it’s way more versatile and if I’m in the city I’m not taking 100yd shots either so I don’t really need something that’s going to push out to distance so I’m not worried about bullet drop. If I’m just trying to get away and I suppressive fire it won’t matter anyways. I can’t wait to get mine on a course. Everyone has their opinion and preference which I get hence why I choose 300 blackout lol I’m just surprised sometimes when people start thinking close quarters they don’t look for something outside of 5.56/.223
I'll be honest my preference is 5.56 simply because it's super common and widespread, it's cheap, and with those in mind I did basically purpose builds around that ideology. I have 2 I run now a 12.3 and a 16, one for cqb and one for mid to long range (I live in a rural ish/small city area) I'd really like to build a 308 br buttttt I'm poor
Id love a suppressed 300blk as well cause of the versatility and exact points you mentioned, but price definitely played a large roll in my 2 initial builds. Down the road I plan on building out some super nice high quality builds and one will definitely be a 300blk around like 10 or 11", but for the purpose of building 2 purpose built rifles for the looming collapse of society in the budget I had to work within I leaned heavily to 5.56

“Dad what is that?”
“Probably some of your college fund.”
Based Dads would send their kids to trade school instead of overspending on college indoctrination anyway
Get a LaRue 2 stage for $89 and stop buying what these guys get paid to push.
I got my zpap92 for sub 300m. I will soon have my aero ar10 ready for mountain warfare.
I'm at SDI now, and I gave you your kudos.
“An invisible light show” bro I fucking love this channel. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Best!
Definitely enjoy your videos and knowledge, I've got alot to learn
Thanks Colion
AWESOME, THANKS, 👍!!!
Awesome video, keep ‘m coming. If you could do one where you tell where people can take those courses, that’d be amazing.
🤘🏿✊🏿 Thank You, Brother!! So, here’s the deal, your videos & NEVER COMMENT!! Well here it is!! You’re doin’ the Gun Industry & gun owners who don’t do stupid $hit RIGHT!! Not trying to be a “Tuff Guy” or a know it all. Just droppin’ your knowledge & opinion. Rock On, Little Brother!! 🤘🏿✊🏿 Stay safe, family. (TH-cam family TOO!)
I thought you did a pretty good job in just a few minutes brother. You covered how you were going to use it according to it's design and purpose.
Angel Mags Says ? Hello ATI 😜
Loved the starting backbdrop animation.
I always like and share your video!!! Keep up the good work !!!
I'd still grab that MR556 SBR
based teutonic weapon enjoyer
Suggestion: there is a place for the Daniel Defense grade rifles and all the ammosexual accoutrements and I enjoy the tactical candy as much as the next person, however, it would be beneficial to spend an extended episode getting trigger time behind the practical tactical options where basics are point and shoot, (hopefully not point and click,) and credit limits aren't de rigueur. Your fan base includes folks who think IPO's are craft beer. Besides, you might have fun. Slum it a little. For us.
He gets paid to push products
@@zacsdiyguns of course he does. How else do TH-cam lawyers make money?
@@eljuano28 has he done any cases?
Probably a question for the man. I'm just another internet expert. 😆

With all the high mount craze, yeah Im ine of the Guys that bought the hydra mount for my xps3 , now Im leaning towards running my optic on my stock top rail , a lazer/light setup , just a simple effective set up without loads of crap hanging off my rifle👍
I've always been wondering how you run your rife setup. Great video
😂
Thoughts on adding a jp h2 silent capture spring? Garrand thumb said it was an amazing upgrade for this gun.
I like the .300 round and I have the 300 Blackout, and it needs a tune up, that said, I also need a suppressor and mine is only good for CQB, that is what is what it was built for and inside of 100 yards, the 5.56 is No Match.
You really should do a hangout with Lucas botkin over at trex arms to talk about body armor and get yourself some more tactical gear.
And invisible light show sounds crazy AF .
But nothing's beats the adrenaline of CQB. 😅
Reminds of the RV in the movie Stripes, the “Urban Assault Vehicle”. That was funny. Wait, so are you.
I am not paranoid enough to get an urban assault rifle. Except for zombies.
Would love to have an opportunity to test my rifles at a professional course too
Another good vid Colion. Thanks for sharing.
Great video like always keep up the good work !!
You put the alien ships from battle l.a . What a great movie. Your vids are great
great minds think alike..AR pistols are my SHTF
So you converted a pistol to an SBR? Looks nice!
Are you still selling the "I will not comply" merchandise?
"I will not comply till the ATF tells us we have to comply"
The more people that have SBRs the more it becomes a common use item.
@@True_Patriotx the more people that have *unregistered* SBRs is what we really need
He's a hypocrite. Plain and simple
He already had a suppressor so he was already on the ATFs list. Just get a suppressor and an SBR. At the same time let’s revoke the NFA and all other gun laws and shutdown the ATF.
My HK mr556 is my STHF rifle. Its my one and done, never wanting another rifle again gun
Wish MK111 was a bit shorter.
I fuckin’ love that setup, gonna have to replicate!
I went with the Sig 516 with Trijicon MRO HD for shtf.
Gr8 load out, we need a full review on the Radian Model 1! Lets make that happen
You don't need this
@@zacsdiyguns i know. That's why I use my Smith and Wesson M&P.
@@friskthewaffle7672 I think that was the one the Kenosha Defender used against Libtard rioters hell bent on taking his life.
Hey Colion, hope all those lights and gadgets are EMP proof!Other wise they could just end up being paper weights…
Got the same thing in 300 blk. Geissele SDE, Surefire Scout mini, Radian Talon 45, and rail scales. The MAWL isn’t in the budget… for now. Lol.
Your laser is going to block your offset sights. Put risers under your currently sights. 😛
Love my old DDM4 V4!
Or leave it as is. If the optic fails, remove it and the irons are open.
Mobility and range is important. Make it like and have at least 3x optic.
What's the mission? It can be hard to tell a jury it was a self defense shooting if the prosecutor makes you look like a wannabe DC sniper
Mine is a 10.5 rifle with a 1x prism and a light :)
A MK18 but with an m-lok handguard? I love it!
Can you do a video on handguns for beginners?
Great advertising for Unity, DD , surefire and Unity.
Dude! just a suggestion but if you are looking for a stock for better aesthetics I suggest trying the new Reptilla RECC-E Stock I think it would make for a great aesthetic addition. I would have one myself, but I "am poor" and cannot afford such luxuries.. awesome content by the way!
Political news is a necessity…and really love your firearms reviews!
Very nice rifle, Colion.
Everyone has their opinion and preference which I get hence why I choose 300 blackout lol I’m just surprised sometimes when people start thinking close quarters they don’t look for something outside of 5.56/.223
300 blackout is "versatile" untill you run out of ammo, and you can't find anymore off the dead body's littering the apocalyptic landscape. 😁
Down the road I plan on building out some super nice high quality builds and one will definitely be a 300blk around like 10 or 11", but for the purpose of building 2 purpose built rifles for the looming collapse of society in the budget I had to work within I leaned heavily to 5.56
I have 45 degree iron sights with my red dot reflex. Seems to work well but I could use a shorter barrel
Good info sir. Thank you for what you do.
Under gassed without a can, might want to consider an adjustable gas block… have had good luck with aero.
1:45 I'd love one but they gotta get rid of that gap between the rail and upper.
Stock. Consider a Rogers Super Stock. They can be found inexpensive, adjust easily, and lock in place with no rattle.
I like my take down AR for shtf, fits in a small backpack and can switch from 556 to 300blk
Every AR is a takedown rifle, hence the “takedown pins”
@WAgunfun true but the one I have the barrel can be remove from the upper making it smaller and able to carry it in a small bag
