Alright man, gotta say a few things. One I have watched your videos for a long long time and the work you do is exceptional. I would drive from Florida up to you before ever letting anyone do that to my truck lol. Second, you are amazingly patient and Ford is incredibly stupid to design things this damn difficult to get to. That is insane and if it happens to my 23 I will just trade the damn thing in and move on 😂. Thank you for this great insight into what you go through on these damn things.

Just recently subbed to your channel, I am 65 now, when I was a kid before and after high school I worked at a Chevy dealership in the small town of Wentzville Mo, imagine a 16 yr old dude having to rip out dashes!! I heard you say how it would have been a nightmare without your power tools, well I been there done that, no such things in 1976 to 77!! Had dashes out to replace wiring harness , broke pieces from factory, on 2 Cheyenes , 1 van I Monte Carlo, 2 Impalas , all the old mechanics and even the St Louis Zone rep would come by watching me, and wonder if I would ever get it all back together again, and nothing busted up, in fact the zone rep would send some to us so I could do it, had a good reputation of NO come backs with squeaks and rattles, or something not working. I could get them done better than book time to, I hated doing dash work on older stuff , that someone else had been into though, and rat nested it with aftermarket crap or stereo installers of the day!! I can still remember one comeback though, not dash related, a dome light switch, owner stated he came out in the morning and light was on, switch messed up on passenger side, so the very next morning he is at service desk, AGAIN, I get called to the desk, same problem, owner came out half asleep, started the engine, and it made a louder noise than usual, and light was on, and the WHOLE FING door is gone, I never seen my service writer laugh so hard and owner, we guessed the thieves got scared off the 1st night LOL This is OVER THE TOP though glad I got out of that stuff in 1979. One reason I got out GM built a plant on land I grew up on and tried to get on there, well when they hired a affirmative action shoe salesman, that was the last of any GM crap for me, even the Zone rep had spoke up for me, I did haul concrete and make 3 times as much to the plant, and later inside while up and running, and watched how they where built, was another deciding factor on NO GM products EVER again.

You sir are the man, you will never have to remind me to attempt this job. I would rather burn it than attempt this. I hope that my super duty never has to go to this point of repair. Ford engineering need to give their head a shake I would make one of them do this repair may be then they would re-think how they build stuff, this is insane.

56:10, that little corner trim piece at idle, mine vibrates right there. And I was trying to figure out how to get it off. I ended up putting some flat adhesive weatherstripping behind it.. snapped it back in & fixed the rattle at idle - THANK YOU VERY MUCH! That was driving me crazy, and I watched the whole video to learn how to take that little corner off without breaking it. Nice job by the way!

Glad that I found your channel, it is a great reference point on the Superduty lineup issues large and small. It takes a lot of work to fix some small issues, so designers should have to perform repairs on their products for at least a year . They might figure ways to make them less complicated to repair that way ! I'll keep my old Super Duty going as long as possible because I got a unicorn that doesn't live up to the bad reputation 240 on the clock and still running like a champ.
Patients that you have in working on these trucks is very valuable! Keep on keeping on.

Disassembly vids of current (read presently-owned) vehicles are SO valuable. Saves on busting so many connectors and miscellaneous plastic parts, not to mention time and nerves. Even if what you're after has nothing to do with what's being repaired on camera.
You might try wearing kevlar electricians' gloves for all that sharp internal work. Those are wonderful and mandatory on all large industrial sites here - if you're found without them even for a minute you get your walking papers. The green ones with light rubber palm coating work best.
The [lack of] quality in all the wiring and stamped parts in a vehicle that are tucked behind panels aggravates me no end. For 100 grand (!) I expect decent structure and wiring (maybe Teck90) and real waterproof junction boxes with cct breakers. Not 50 feet of electrical tape on cheap-ass wiring looms, 12-volt DC to boot.

Dude, that was amazing. Really nice work master.
I had an evaporator fail on my Tacoma. Same job with the dash except I have a high end custom sound system. Had to take it to the installer to have all the equipment removed then back to the shop to take care of the A/C work then Back to the installer to have the sound system re-installed. What a project. Wouldn’t it be nice if manufacturers made it easier to access the HVAC systems on these vehicles.
Thanks for the videos. I have a 2024 F-350 KR set for production during the week of April 15th. It’s my first diesel truck. I’m really learning a lot from your videos and getting more comfortable with the order.
    Will be watching for more.
Still trying to figure out what brand engine oil to run and which fuel additive to run also. Hopefully I will find one of your videos on these matters.
    Cheers.

Dealership called and said it was a blown belt. They checked the alignment, and it looked good, so they think it was a defective belt. I guess it's a special belt so they had to order it from Ford, which might take a few days to get here due to the UAW strike.

That is absolutely ridiculous. A job that intensive needs more attention to detail so that nothing is missed and everything is done correctly the first time SO you don’t have to go back and undo what you did or complete something you missed. That in turn produces a better product which relates directly to customer satisfaction and that ensures the customer will have confidence in the Ford name and will buy more vehicles and everyone makes more money. So sorry Aaron, to me that looks like a 8 or 10 hour job because of all the intricacies. I thought under the hood of the 6.7 was rough, pulling the dash looks intense. They should give a class in that and name it….”What you never want the customer to see” 😂

My 2023 Ford F450 Platinum (900 miles) is currently at the dealership awaiting a compressor replacement. I hope that is what it is but my gut tells me that got the diagnosis wrong. Mine worked for four days with no issue, on the fifth day coming home it suddenly felt warm air coming out. The next day first trip into town it was cold but after coming out of the store, it only blew hot. Hotter than the outside temp (was 100 that day). The next day I tested it out and drove around for a few miles (was blowing cold), stopped and restarted and it was blowing warm. Finally found an available appointment at the dealer and drove it in that day, it was just blowing lukewarm. I'm praying these guys tested the compressor but I also believe the compressor will not cycle if the temp sensor is bad???

So how much time does Ford allow for this job? 8 Hours, 10 Hours?? I would have definitely broke more twangs and trim thingies, never mind remembering where all that crap goes back together. Hat's off to you Sir on this project! Bagel guy is gonna owe you big after this one, Lol. Only a gear head would watch this start to finish.

Interesting - I see the '23 duties have moved to an AGM battery! It also appears that they moved them to 1234YF for refrigerant? Just had to put a set of batts in my '22 4K mi out of the 36K.. You should do a video on what issues failing batteries can cause in this newer trucks - started with a slightly slow crank and wrench, and quickly segwayed into NOX 1 not responding / de-rate messages.

Can you tell me what the two electrical plugs that feed the center console do? My truck has the white plug, but not the brown plug, and I am trying to convert from a jumpseat to this factory center console

    • @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod

I'm not sure, there's like 15 wires in that brown connector......

    • @kb5210
      @kb5210 หลายเดือนก่อน

I managed to trace the diagram through Alldata’s diagrams
The brown connector appears to have 6 wires that all correspond to rear seat heat controls.
The larger white plug has 16 wires, all of which primarily serve lights and charging ports in the console
Only question left is, two of those wire feed the passive anti-theft antenna (PATS). When installing the console in an XL model truck, the PATS system isn’t used (no push button start)…. So if the PATS antenna is Unplugged inside the console, should that keep the truck from registering a no-start condition since the antenna is disabled?

Does it concern anyone else to see so many little things missed during assembly..? I know they were not major items, but plugs not secured where they are supposed to be, the glove box friction arm not secuted.. Again, not major items but God is in the details and some of details are lacking. If they are missing the small things then how many large ones were missed?

Terrible part of all "newer" vehicles. Parts aren't as good of quality, engineers design them to be difficult to service and fail . This results in high labor and parts for most jobs. Combined with the initial costs of buying, makers are pricing people out buying. I don't envy you on this job, either. Pain in the keester.

FORD leads the industry in vehicle RECALLs by a large margin. No other manufacturer comes close. Not even by a little! FORD leads the industry in recalls year after year. This is not a fluke. This is business as normal for FORD. If FORD thought leading the industry in recalls was a problem year after year, they would do something about it, but no change needed if consumers continue to pay $60k, $70K, $80k, even $100k for trucks.
