The most incredible part of this match was Sampaolis belief that Meza, Acuna and Salvio will be able to keep up with Brozović, Rakitić and Modrić. Croatian midfield is extremely strong, and there are very few teams that can match our pace and technique in that part of the game, especially when you count in how much Rebić and Mandžukić did on the defensive end. At the same time, that bald fool benched Aguero, DiMaria and Dyabala and didn't even call Icardi for the tournament. Argentina has had some terrible managers in the past three decades and this game was the pinacle of their terrrible decisions. Our boys, on the other hand, were brilliant. That game was over even before the ref blew the first whistle.

@Patrick Donnelly this myth that he doesn't deliver in big games perplexes me. He averages close to a goal a game in major finals and has a track record of top performance in big games. I think the problem is he sets the bar so high that when he's below par it's really noticeable

Your suggestion that because he hasn't been at his best in a few big games that he doesn't turn up for them at all is tired and not borne out by evidence. I could provide a far far lengthier list of big games where he's turned in on and excelled. And he's largely performed very well for Argentina, he was the best player in both Copa America finals they made and a Higuain shank away from the World Cup. Both him and Cristiano are victims of their freakish consistency at times, if they don't have their best game it stands out more than anyone else

At the same time, that bald fool benched Aguero, DiMaria and Dyabala and didn't even call Icardi for the tournament. Argentina has had some terrible managers in the past three decades and this game was the pinacle of their terrrible decisions. Our boys, on the other hand, were brilliant. That game was over even before the ref blew the first whistle.
