Rob, disconnect the bonnet struts and lift the bonnet vertical and if you look at the hinges you'll see the locks to lock the bonnet into place, saving you stretching over the struts. Discovery 3 and 4 have the same hinge locks. I also would let the front tyres down to lower the body.

    • @samrodian919

I was just thinking 'Rob's getting proper involved' when you voiced the phrase. Great to see the diagnosis being narrowed down, we all like to see a root cause fault eliminated. As my Dad always used to say "It will be the last thing we try that fixes it"

Hi guys, nice breakdown on the diesel pump extracation and diagnostic. That Olop sounds mint, it'll be a little belter when its back together.
I bought one of your JennyChem bargain buckets this week (almost lost my fingernails opening the bucket, that seal is watertight!). 3 things :- a) JennyChem pack their stuff very, very well, b) The APC guy thought that it was going to be very heavy (due to the way that it was packed) and c) I've "had" to buy a jetwash to use it properly as work won't let me park my work one at home!
Have a great weekend guys. W.

The Range Rover is so convoluted in the engine bay layout. The body lines and drivetrain architecture are perfect. Then you open the hood and think what happened? Keep at it gentlemen thanks so much for sharing your talents

Well done Rob. I admire your perseverance on the RR. Sometimes you just gotta jump in the deep end and go for it. 👍👍. Looking forward to seeing the next update once that diesel pump is in. I think that’s gonna be the fix 🤞. I bought my Land Rover as a low mileage one owner non-runner. Bit of a gamble but a new crank position sensor did the trick and 7 years on it’s still running like a champ. Have a great weekend gents.

That car has been a pain but I know you two will get it sorted. Why they make things so difficult I don't know probably because they don't want us to repair them. I like the variety in this one, even got the Polo running on the first turn which can't be bad. I hope Chris is back to normal now. Thanks for sharing this video Rob and Chris. I hope you have a great weekend. 👍 👍

Always love the Vids boys! Look out for them. So interesting how different your UK car market is to us here in Australia. The Makes, Sell prices, buy prices at Auction. A very different landscape here. Our Used car market here is redhot with prices within 10% of new car prices sometimes. Your standard popular small vehicles. Audi, VW, BMW are upmarket here with Spare Parts here very expensive! We have mostly Kia, Hyundai, Suzuki, Chinese and some Indian models being the mainstay. Range Rovers and Land Rovers here are hideously expensive. Love it when you "Crunch the Numbers". If you both ever make it to Australia for a Holiday with your families, would love to meet you blokes for a drink at the Pub. Cheers, Arty.

Thanks for another great video, it's a shame Chris has far to many projects, that old car would of been no challenge at all with the loom in the boot and a tidy up. Our local machinery auctions gone online only since the 19 sneezes shut down live auctions for a while. Their bonus time is a joke, I saw a combine one day still biding 3 hours after it should of closed. I think it had a reserve on it and they left it run trying to get the bids up high enough to sell. It stopped at about $27000 and don't know if it sold then, I got nothing I was bidding on that day so glad I never had to go spend a day and fuel going to the auction like the old days. it's just not the same though when you have no interaction talking with the old guys standing round and meeting other people you know. Take care guys.

That gave an interesting indication of how your work constantly changes. The Range Rover is giving, (and has given) you, the run around. It had to be something relatively minor and hidden, those nagging fault not found issues are a nasty pain with which to deal. I hope the diesel pump replacement fits the bill, but there is always a risk that some other gremlin was pushed under the carpet by earlier activity. Wishing the pair of you a great weekend, come back fighting-fit, ready for the battles with gremlins to come.

Whenever you have any car that won't start, no matter what it is - I'm going to say 'it's the fuel pump belt mate!' 😆

Excellent vid Rob. I'm glad I've got a petrol Rangie and not an oil burner that's all I can say! And yes I know that a 4.2 Supercharged has sweet FA room under the bonnet as well, but at least it's only got a very easily removable heater air intake up back under the scuttle panel !

Nice one Rob. Can see why the Range Rover is rated as UK's most unreliable model.... Just hope it's that pump mate. If not we'll be watching you set it on fire 👍

WOW what a hard part to remove, let put a motor together then build a car around the engine. Tough job, great content.

Did you have a pop at the other few on Copart? The Austin Healey would be a good one for Chris!

That was a full value for money video! Very interesting on the RR, you need to be pretty fit don't you. I also was worried when you had that jump pack balanced, justifiable when it fell later. Great stuff Rob, you do a fascinating job both of you.

Great video rob nice to see you get that polo up and running so that it is moveable I know you say it’s another fiesta and you probably wouldn’t of done a video on it but I’m sure others would agree and say that all the content you put out wether it is a Fiat 500 or a fiesta I do great content and gives us great advice on what to do when repairing your own car etc
