Yes, this is a very profound teaching and very clear. It becomes obvious that Jesus isn't speaking about sacrificial giving to those far away in first priority but those that are directly and immediately surrounding us. It seems the way society and the church today emphasizes it is in reverse. That is very sobering as it implies there very well could be even very large sums of money donated or bequeathed that gain absolutely no merit whatsoever in Gods eyes. Giving directly to your local homeless seems to be the only way to go, something I started doing and encourage all to do. Giving directly ensures there are no shenagsns or shell games, goes into Christs hand as his hand spares us for all eternity! Amen. +

Really amazing. The perfect, true love is not when you love God (to love the being who gives you being), but when you love like God (to love the being who gives you nothing).
And I see now and believe that this is the most important meaning of the expression : to be made in the image of God : to be able not just to reason and to understand the world, the creation, but to be able to love it and to care for it, for all creatures, human and non-human, unconditionally.

I don't think that's what Dr Pitre is saying at all. Don't put words in his mouth. He mentions the Bible verse this whole talk is based on. And this interpretation explains how to live that out.
      1John 4:12
No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.
Basically God's love is brought to perfection in us by us loving our neighbors. ALL our neighbors, even our enemies.
