@@tony1685 So all the Protestant denominations are okay then? Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you” (John 6:53). Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day (John 6:54). Protestants (despite Jesus putting emphasis on the real presence multiple times): it’s just a symbol.
The Scriptures often use "know" to mean intimate knowledge. What can be more intimate than taking the divine substance into your own substance through the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar? "Unless you eat My Flesh and drink My Blood you have no life in you." "I never knew you."
Such a beautiful reminder to LOVE the Lord my God with ALL my heart, soul, may be and strength...and to LOVE others as He would. Lord, fill me with Your grace to DO Your Will! 💛🙏🙏🙏💛
I just got my oil from Confession yesterday. I really needed it. God bless you all my brothers and sisters. And thank you Dr. Pitre for the best channel on YT. Great vid as always my brother!
I love John 15, it is teaching that the Lord is the vine and we are the branches, as we obey the Lord He will nourish us with spiritual guidance. This is the covenant relationship with Christ, that we come follow Him and He then guides us and writes His laws on our hearts. If He does not know us, if we are not participating, because we are not obedient, then we are cut off from spiritual guidance. The more we follow the more spiritual guidance we receive, the greater are relationship is with Him, those who are not following Him, will be the ones He does not know, because they are not participating in that relationship, they do not have oil in their lamps, because they are not prepared for the coming of the Lord.
Thank you so much Dr. Pitre for revealing the truth. Only doing the will of God we can enter the Kingdom of God. "Love God with your heart, your soul and your mind and love your neighbour like yourself". 💕
In this parable and the other moments when Christ says, "I never knew you," I have noticed that the people who are rejected THINK that they do have a relationship.
Knowing that our Lord made an extreme twist in His parables just makes me laugh.. It's a good news, it makes such a remarkable accent so the listener will not ignore nor forget His main message, STAY AWAKE...
So good to hear you clearly acknowledging the (fundamental) truth of the Jewish origins and roots of all scripture. Jesus is of course Yeshua…not Greek or Roman or a blond haired blue eyed gentile representation in a medieval painting, but a Jew…..as is His mother Mary who is actually Miriam. I find the anti-Semitic writings of the church fathers very hard to reconcile with the enlightened and wise souls the church holds in such high regard…Also very encouraging that you speak so GRACIOUSLY about the Protestant emphasis on the personal relationship with The Messiah…very different of course to the Catholic emphasis on the priest as mediator. The oil here is surely the key between the two different states Wise/Foolish…as it represents The Holy Spirit….whose indwelling prompts, strengthens and inspires the fruit of said spirit unto good works (out of a new, changed heart) Ephesians: 1:13 And you also (meaning anyone, it’s not a denominational statement) were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. WHEN you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.”
Thanks Doc, agreed relationship is so important. How do you fall in love with a person? Relationship ! for without it would just be meaningless frustrating rituals.
In my country/city, we do hear this a lot! You can talk to your parish priests about it for sure! Let them be your mentors, and be a voice for your parish.
WE DON'T, because the Sunday Liturgy is not a Bible Study, like the Protestants do. IT IS A MASS. CHRIST IS THE CENTER OF THE CELEBRATION. IT IS A CELEBRATION OF THE MYSTERIES OF GOD. The sermon or homily is an exegetical presentation and reflection. It is our obligation to read and study the Bible and when Catholic go for the mass, they should have a deeper spiritual input before the Divine Presence of God.
I agree with most of what is being conveyed here but I think what’s missing is the significance of the oil. I think the oil is a representation of the Holy Spirit which all true believers have within them. Those who do not believe and, due to their unbelief are lacking the in dueling presence of the Holy Spirit, will not be permitted entrance into Heaven. As Jesus says, those who do not do the “will of the Father” will not enter (Matt 7:21) and as Jesus says in John 6:40 that the will of ‘the father’ is that whoever sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life. The wise virgins were prepared while the foolish were not. Believe in Him.
If I remember correctly...you explained the earlier account in 24-36af (2 in the field, 1 taken 1 left behind etc) as the harvest of the wicked ... but here the 5 wise are taken and the 5 foolish left behind... visa versa.... are those two different events?
The parable needs to be expounded using the rules that Scripture itself gives for exposition. If we compare Scripture with Scripture (See 1 Corinthians 2), we learn that OIL is used as a picture of anointing in the Old Testament. Kings of Israel were anointed with Oil. But this imagery of "anointing with oil" was bringing forward the imagery of the true King, of whom the Kings of Israel were but a type, namely Jesus, who was not anointed with oil, but with the Holy Spirit. And Christians have received this unction (anointing) also (1 John 2:20). So the Oil in their lamps is a picture of the Holy Spirit. Now earthy oil is used to keep earthly fires burning. So we need to consider carefully the reason why 10 virgins are mentioned. 10 is number of completeness in Holy Scripture. And so we have 10 creative commands that summarize the entire creation in Genesis. We have 10 Laws in the 10 Commandments that summarize the entire threefold Law given to Israel. And we have 10 virgins to represent the entire visible church on earth at any one time. Consider also the context of this parable and the series of parables that follow. It is right after the Lord discusses the signs leading up to the Day of Judgment. The Lord begins warning us to WATCH and BE READY! And we learn that 5 virgins are ready and 5 are not. The 10, therefore are a picture of the church on earth, and we thereby learn that many are not ready. They have allowed the Holy Ghost to slip away out of their lives. And how is the Holy Spirit received? In Baptism yes. But that is the start of our Christian faith. he Apostle tells us frankly that the holy Spirit is ministered to us by the PREACHING OF the GOSPEL (Galatians 3:2-14 ; SEE ALSO 1 Corinthians 2:4, 12; Acts 10:36-44; 1 Thessalonians 1:5. So the wise virgins are those who attend to the hearing of the pure, unadulterated Gospel. It is by the Gospel, that the Holy Spirit is continually ministered to Christians by which faith is kindled and maintained in our hearts. And this necessitates true repentance. For faith cannot dwell where people live on in unrepentant sins. To remain Christians we need genuine and daily repentance and faith. The Divine Moral Law reveals our sins, and works true contrition (sorrow) over sins. The Gospel, creates and sparks saving faith, when we learn ever anew, the God is reconciled to us by the sufferings and death of His Son for our sins. Christ has reconciled us to god and we are set free from all sins in Christ Jesus. Repent of your sins and seek mercy and grace by Christ Jesus and live. Rely alone upon the merits of Jesus your Saviour. Forsake your own works which are but filthy rags in the sight of a HOLY GOD. Come to the heavenly feast, wearing the wedding garment of Christ's righteousness. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18
@@elisesaffo7920 Thanks for your comment. Christ is a Great and Awesome Saviour. And the Gospel is an amazing blessing for all sinners who see their lost condition and heed it. Micah 7:18, 19 “Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.”
@po18guy Thanks for your comment. You need to be more specific, notwithstanding. What exactly was the "much truth" that I spoke, and which you agreed with ? And what, exactly, was "much lacking" in what I wrote? Can you offer brief bullet point summary and succinct, evidence based reasons ? (Please stay brief, or we will go off target. And time is limited, after all) Your use of the subjunctive mood, when you said "SEEMS to water down", reflects that you are not exactly certain of your own critique, nor of my points. And so your metaphor about "koolaid" is lost to me. It has no point of reference. And you will need to be very clear here. But you are welcome to ask me about what I wrote. Maybe I can help clarify for others reading also. What I did not do was write a full and comprehensive Exposition of the parable of the 10 virgins. Nor did I attempt to give a full account of the historic Apostolic faith. What I did do is point, very briefly, to the true centre of Christian, Apostolic teaching. It is for this reason that the Lord commissioned Apostles, namely, to expound his words so that we do not have to rely upon the traditions of men following the Apostolic age.
@po18guy Indeed I follow this principle in every exposition I undertake. One of the Scripture Rules of Exposition is: προφητείαν κατὰ τὴν ἀναλογίαν τῆς πίστεως. It's known as "The Rule of Faith" and it's taken straight from Romans 12:6. Thereby we recognise that it is Apostolic. The use of the definite article in the Greek highlights "The Faith" itself as the governing Rule behind all exposition. Namely, that Exposition is constrained by the clear foundational texts that underpin The Faith. And Paul states that our teaching in every instance ought to conform to the clear, established doctrines of The Faith. This rule was already understood and insisted upon by several of the ancient church fathers and by the early church itself. Knowing this, we do use the principle of comparing Scripture with Scripture, which is another Apostolic Rule of Exposition (1 Cor. 2:13). However, our Exposition must conform to the CLEAR, and ESTABLISHED doctrines of The Faith (Rom. 12:6). By way of example: Many people stumble at the passage in Hebrews 6:4-6. And even the early church was plagued by the private interpretation imposed upon that passage by the Novatians. But the true church prevailed by remembering that the Exposition of Hebrews 6:4-6 is constrained and governed by "The Rule of Faith". And they insisted that Hebrews cannot exclude truly repentent Christians who have at some point lapsed in their faith. Similarly, the Unitarian cults are dealt with using the same rule when they cite texts that support their ideas on a surface level when taken in isolation. With reference to what you said, it has long been held by orthodox Christian teachers, that the Scriptures must be EXPOUNDED (not Interpreted, but expounded) in the light of the New Testament writers. To this end, Apostolic writers must not be cited in such away as to bypass Christ . Nor must they be used in such a way as to overthrow each other. (Many people attempt to use James the brother of the Lord to overthrow Paul the Lord's own Apostle. In doing so they become ludicrous, as though the church was not built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets. Eph 2:20). In short, you are correct, all teaching must be considered against the totality of Christ teaching and the Apostles, and this means we must do some work. There is no fast track to becoming a good teacher of Scripture. A solid understanding of Scripture that is consistent with all Scripture is a necessary requisite. But in actual teaching, brevity requires that we use few words. Therefore we need not cite every underpinning proof text when dealing with any particular passage. But our handling of passages should reflect the broader understanding. And we ought to be ready to defend our underpinning premises when called upon to do so. One last thing: Any use of the Apostles to negate Christ's words is clearly a falsification of The Lord's words. Yet, we see also that Jesus' method and style of teaching is often deliberately very cryptic. And the Lord openly states this (Matthew 13:13, 35). And for this reason he gave Apostles. They typically give clear explanations of sometimes difficult concepts. It is no small stretch to see that the words and teaching of the Lord are very different to the clear and succinct style of the Apostles. Yet The Rule of Faith understands that the Apostles are not teaching anything new that Jesus and the Old Testament Prophets had not previously taught. And with experience, we find that the Old Testament and the Gospels becomes much easier to understand and expound in a manner consistent with the Apostles Doctrine and fully in accord with all the prophets spoke beforehand. (Acts 2:42; Acts 10:43; Acts 26:22) We also see differences between the Gospel writers for this reason. For example, Matthew tends to stick very closely to the Jewish idioms that the Lord used. But Luke, in the synoptic and parallel accounts, tend to take those idioms and put them into language and vocabulary that is easily understood by non Jews. In this respect , Luke is very akin to Paul in his manner. And little wonder, for he was Paul's travelling companion.
@po18guy I have given very much thought to James 3:1, especially in recent years. God held the Old Testament teachers accountable even to the point of imposing the death penalty (Deut. 18:20). The lord Reiterated this warning again during the general apostasy of the church in Jeremiah's day in the kingdom of Judah, just before the irremediable captivity of the church of those days (2 Chronicles 36:16). For He warns: " Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, 'He saith.' ". Jeremiah 23:31 But notice prior to this he invites all his people , who hold to the truth, to speak openly: "He that hath My Word, let him speak my word faithfully." Jeremiah 23:28 And the Apostle states this principle also: "If ANYONE SPEAK, let it be as the Oracles of God". 1 Peter 4:11 Paul writes: "I would that .... All prophesied" [in the church] (1 Corinthians 15:5) In which of course he made an allusion to Moses response to Joshua's concern: "Would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!" (Numbers 11:29) And indeed, the Apostle states with David and Moses that the Christian has the same spirit of faith that impels confession of the Word: "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak" (2 Corinthians 4:13, from Psalm 116:10) So we see indeed that the Lord would have his people speak his word. But they must do this faithfully. And they must not presume to take up the office of preaching publically without the call and ordination through the church (Hebrews 5:4; Titus 1:5) The Holy Ghost characterised the true church in the days of the Apostles in the Jerusalem church by these words: "They continued steaffastly in THE APOSTLES' DOCTRINE " (Acts 2:42) Now If this is so, then no man should add to this . Indeed, Paul addressed the entire congregation to do the same thing as the church of the Apostles in Jerusalem: "MARK them which cause divisions and offences CONTRARY to the DOCTRINE which ye have LEARNED; and AVOID them." (Romans 16:17) These two commands, "Mark" and "Avoid" still stand today. All Christians are required to MARK and AVOID those who teach contrary to the Doctrine. But what DOCTRINE had the Christians in the Roman congregation received ? The APOSTLE'S DOCTRINE of course! (Acts 2:42). Their duty was to Christ and to His Word. We note two things from this text: The Apostle uses past tense. He writes, "The Doctrine which you HAVE LEARNED". And this verb: ἐμάθετε (emathete) is actually an Aorist indicative verb. And it absolutely denotes a past statement of fact. Nothing can be added to Apostolic doctrine. The logical premise of this text is that the teaching is final and settled and unchanging. - The word "contrary to" is really παρά (para) in the Greek, and it is used with the accusative case. Hence this proposition means "alongside" . Any new teaching introduced "alongside" the Apostle's Doctrine, already received, is to be rejected by the Christian. It is utterly false and condemned by the Apostle. And Paul insists that: "The things that I write unto you are THE COMMANDMENTS of the Lord." (1 Corinthians 14:37) And this insistence on the rejection of new doctrines ought not to surprise us. This is essentially what the Lord insisted through Jeremiah when he said: "He that Has MY WORD, let him speak MY WORD FAITHFULLY" (Jer. 23:28) We could not do that if we did not already have a final Word. In this we see the Scriptural principle of "Sola Scriptura". And we discover that it is is indeed Apostolic and of Moses and of the Prophets and of the Lord himself who says: "IF you continue in MY WORD, then are you my disciples indeed" (John 8:31) Now we trace our roots to the early church and call ourselves both "Catholic" and "Orthodox". But these are just adjectives invented by men. And they are very worthy and useful if we use them rightly. But if we are not part of Christ's church through repentance and Faith, made disciples and Christians in Baptism, we are none of His and we are not Catholic. For the Universal or "Catholic" church is that church which begins with Christ and continues in His Word . And If we do not reject the doctrinal traditions that men have introduced to the church, we are not Orthodox. Then we have shall have departed from the faith according to the warning if the apostle (1 Timothy 4:1) So it is an appalling scandal in the church to see men depart from the faith and to presume to introduce the traditions of men. It is bad enough the popes and bishops have done this in the church. But today we have an army of private protestant popes who do the same thing and follow the same arbitrary principle. In the words of Jeremiah: "Yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart" (Jer. 23:26) And the remedy that God gave to these pastors that have appeared in the church since the days of the early bishops and popes even till now with the army if protestant sectarians was very simple all along: "I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. BUT IF they had STOOD in MY COUNSEL, and had caused my people to hear MY WORDS, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings." Jeremiah 23:21-22 In the words of the Apostle "If ANYONE speak, LET IT BE AS THE ORACLE'S OF GOD" (1 Peter 4:11) The "oracles of God" is simply the λόγια θεοῦ , the very Words of God. Nothing more, nothing less.
But what if some churches who are prepared didn't prepare the people right? As far as i see it many churches don't even talk about Hell or Angels or anything that has to do with Paradise? What are we fighting for? And how should we believe in God through fear of obedience or through Love of God?

No personal relationship??? What sort of relationship did they lack??? No!! The answer is that the people who did mighty miracles in His Name have done these things without authority. The explanation that Jesus gives is that of a house built on sand and on rock. As the church fathers have explained, it has to do with the Church. There is only one church that is built on rock, all others on sand. Thus outside of the one church that is vested with the authority given by Christ, it would be a sad day for others who did mighty things. Saint Augustine (died A.D. 430): “No man can find salvation except in the Catholic Church. Outside the Catholic Church one can have everything except salvation. One can have honor, one can have the sacraments, one can sing alleluia, one can answer amen, one can have faith in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, and preach it too, but never can one find salvation except in the Catholic Church.” (Sermo ad Caesariensis Ecclesia plebem) Origen (died A.D. 254): “Let no man deceive himself. Outside this house, that is, outside the Church no one is saved.” (In Iesu Nave homiliae) Saint Ambrose (died A.D. 397): “Where Peter is therefore, there is the Church. Where the Church is there is not death but life eternal. …Although many call themselves Christians, they usurp the name and do not have the reward.” (The Fathers of the Church ) Saint Cyprian (died A.D. 258): “He who has turned his back on the Church of Christ shall not come to the rewards of Christ; he is an alien, a worldling, an enemy. You cannot have God for your Father if you have not the Church for your mother. Saint Jerome (died A.D. 420): “As I follow no leader save Christ, so I communicate with none but your blessedness, that is, with the Chair of Peter. For this, I know, is the rock on which the Church is built. …This is the ark of Noah, and he who is not found in it shall perish when the flood prevails. …And as for heretics, I have never spared them; on the contrary, I have seen to it in every possible way that the Church’s enemies are also my enemies.” (Manual of Patrology and History of Theology) (Go to Catholicism.org for more quotes - The Fathers of the Church on Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus)

*nahum 1:7* _"The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him."_ God knows the one who trust him instead of trusting themselves to get into heaven. That's simple salvation. The oil in the lamp is symbolism for the requirement of salvation : you have it then you get it, if you don't have it then you don't get it. This passage is made for everyone to confess out loud what they think the oil is: - does it come from you and your performance somehow? Do you have to buy it? - does it come from God, and is a gift? If you believe you must perform something (works/obedience), then you are not saved since you reject the gift ... by wanting to pay for it. If you believe salvation is a gift from God and that there is no counterpart, then you are saved. *the will of the Father you must do:* john 6:38-40 _"38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."_ doing the will of the Father = believing on the son to have eternal life. not doing the will of the Father = believing in something else to have eternal life, like the son + your performance for example.
@po18guy I don't have a video series, i fish in video comment sections of other videos. Not that everyone should do it, but some can since there is room to catch people there. The Holy Spirit is your teacher, if you are saved. You do not need a degree from men to know and to teach : you only need God. 1) get saved: trust that God paid for ALL your sins on the cross, even your future sins : therefore only you trust(=believe), you cannot "lose" salvation by sinning ... since these sins are paid of by the blood of Christ. Saying otherwise only shows you do not trust the blood of Christ to save you. 2) once you are saved, pray for knowledge, and God will give it to you. 3) patience and work, it is not instantaneous. A child need years to learn. *John 14:26* _"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you."_ *Nehemiah **9:20* _"You gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, Your manna You did not withhold from their mouth, And You gave them water for their thirst."_ *Matthew 10:19-20* _"But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. I truly can't grasp some concepts of catholicism and orthodoxy but being of different understandings shouldn't be a reason to anathematize each other. I often ask myself "how could God let this schisms happen?". Why is the bride never mentioned in the analysis of this parable? Isn’t the Church the bride? Isn’t the bride already on the inside of the door? There can be no wedding without the bride. Are all of the bridesmaids those who are outside the Church?
In this and many other instances our Lord told us, in his own words, that we do NOT have a reasonable expectation that all men are saved. I would hope a certain bishop would stop that hideous teaching and spend more time trying to save endangered souls than being on American Ninja. I am trying my hardest to be worthy of Jesus' sacrifice.
You could see the cross and resurrection, the means of our salvation, in the fact that the 5 bridesmaids were even able to enter the wedding (Heaven), as opposed to those 5 who were not able to enter (Hell.) When you take specific passages of the Bible, you are not always going to see the passages which explicitly say how one is saved, but they all nonetheless help lead one to salvation.
Dear Dr. Brant Pitre, I enjoy your explanations of the parables, I have learned a lot but there is one thing I have never heard you say and with this particular parable it would have been perfect. This parable explains to us that we must be prepared as Catholics but you have not explained what is necessary for NON-CATHOLICS such as PROTESTANTS or any other religion. Part of the DOGMA of the Catholic Church is that people must convert to the Catholic Church because it is the one and only true Church of Jesus Christ, all other Churches are man made and have no power to save anyone. People must learn that if they believe in Jesus Christ, they must believe in everything he says and join his Church and that is what people must do to save their souls and be prepared. Judas is a perfect example of what you are referencing to, sort of. He did not believe in the Lord as Lord so he did not see salvation. But he did raise the dead and heal the inflicted.
This kind of a tale that He told sounds too close to a weird ghost story or fantasy story that really has no business even existing... it is partly this kind of thing that confirms to me that the entire next life is a myth: the wording He uses in His short stories at that. Actually; if invited to His wedding feast: I'd adamantly refuse to attend, due specifically to His place in society and also the need to do my own work- and that refusal to party until I have done all of my work for the rest of my life will attain for me Paradise, whereas His friends will be in Hell along with all of the next life for even considering being AWOL from their jobs instead of doing their jobs and ignoring Him Himself as He is God He simply is completely worthless to begin with- so it is always with the fellow at the top of the hierarchy: they do not matter because of their egotistical place in society.
What is the right relationship to have? The one that claims the Messiah is God is the lie. The one that say the Father is One is the true one and the Messiah a servant of, not equal to is the correct relationship to have.

Thank you..for teaching us about this parable. The importance of a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Thank you Dr. Brant! God bless you, your family and ministry more! for teaching us about God's Kingdom and divine truths..
Amen!
Thank you so much Dr. Pitre for revealing the truth. Only doing the will of God we can enter the Kingdom of God. "Love God with your heart, your soul and your mind and love your neighbour like yourself". 💕

The oil here is surely the key between the two different states Wise/Foolish…as it represents The Holy Spirit….whose indwelling prompts, strengthens and inspires the fruit of said spirit unto good works (out of a new, changed heart)
Ephesians: 1:13
And you also (meaning anyone, it’s not a denominational statement) were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. WHEN you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.”

Thank you so much Dr Litre.
Why don't we hear things like this from the pulpit on Sundays, or daily Mass?
You will, this Sunday. This is the Gospel reading for the Sunday Mass.
Word.
God bless your explanation was fantastic
Great job again, bless you.
What was the length of time between the betrothal and the wedding feast? Was it typical/standard for all betrothed couples, or did it vary?
How did Jesus never know us though? Doesn’t He seek us our entire lives and knows every detail of our being?
If I remember correctly...you explained the earlier account in 24-36af (2 in the field, 1 taken 1 left behind etc) as the harvest of the wicked ... but here the 5 wise are taken and the 5 foolish left behind... visa versa.... are those two different events?
Superb explanation!!!
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Isaiah 1:18
Amen

@po18guy Thanks for your comment.
And time is limited, after all)
Your use of the subjunctive mood, when you said "SEEMS to water down", reflects that you are not exactly certain of your own critique, nor of my points.
One of the Scripture Rules of Exposition is:
προφητείαν κατὰ τὴν ἀναλογίαν τῆς πίστεως.
One last thing:
Any use of the Apostles to negate Christ's words is clearly a falsification of The Lord's words.
(Acts 2:42; Acts 10:43; Acts 26:22)
We also see differences between the Gospel writers for this reason.
For He warns:
" Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, 'He saith.' ". Jeremiah 23:31
But notice prior to this he invites all his people , who hold to the truth, to speak openly:
"He that hath My Word, let him speak my word faithfully." Jeremiah 23:28
And the Apostle states this principle also:
"If ANYONE SPEAK, let it be as the Oracles of God". 1 Peter 4:11
Paul writes:
"I would that .... All prophesied" [in the church] (1 Corinthians 15:5)
In which of course he made an allusion to Moses response to Joshua's concern:
"Would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!"
(Numbers 11:29)
And indeed, the Apostle states with David and Moses that the Christian has the same spirit of faith that impels confession of the Word:
"We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak"
(2 Corinthians 4:13, from Psalm 116:10)
So we see indeed that the Lord would have his people speak his word. But they must do this faithfully. And they must not presume to take up the office of preaching publically without the call and ordination through the church (Hebrews 5:4; Titus 1:5)
The Holy Ghost characterised the true church in the days of the Apostles in the Jerusalem church by these words:
"They continued steaffastly in
THE APOSTLES' DOCTRINE "
(Acts 2:42)
Now If this is so, then no man should add to this .
Indeed, Paul addressed the entire congregation to do the same thing as the church of the Apostles in Jerusalem:
"MARK them
which cause divisions and offences
CONTRARY to the DOCTRINE which ye have LEARNED; and
AVOID them."
(Romans 16:17)
These two commands, "Mark" and "Avoid" still stand today.
We note two things from this text:
The Apostle uses past tense. He writes,
"The Doctrine which you HAVE LEARNED". And this verb:
ἐμάθετε (emathete) is actually an Aorist indicative verb.
And Paul insists that:
"The things that I write unto you are
THE COMMANDMENTS of the Lord."
(1 Corinthians 14:37)
And this insistence on the rejection of new doctrines ought not to surprise us. This is essentially what the Lord insisted through Jeremiah when he said:
"He that Has MY WORD, let him speak MY WORD FAITHFULLY" (Jer. 23:28)
We could not do that if we did not already have a final Word. In this we see the Scriptural principle of
"Sola Scriptura". And we discover that it is is indeed Apostolic and of Moses and of the Prophets and of the Lord himself who says:
"IF you continue in MY WORD, then are you my disciples indeed" (John 8:31)
Now we trace our roots to the early church and call ourselves both "Catholic" and "Orthodox".
Then we have shall have departed from the faith according to the warning if the apostle (1 Timothy 4:1)
So it is an appalling scandal in the church to see men depart from the faith and to presume to introduce the traditions of men. It is bad enough the popes and bishops have done this in the church. But today we have an army of private protestant popes who do the same thing and follow the same arbitrary principle.
In the words of Jeremiah:
"Yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart" (Jer. 23:26)
And the remedy that God gave to these pastors that have appeared in the church since the days of the early bishops and popes even till now with the army if protestant sectarians was very simple all along:
"I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. BUT IF they had STOOD in MY COUNSEL, and had caused my people to hear MY WORDS, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings."
Jeremiah 23:21-22
In the words of the Apostle
"If ANYONE speak,
LET IT BE AS THE ORACLE'S OF GOD"
(1 Peter 4:11)
The "oracles of God" is simply the
λόγια θεοῦ , the very Words of God.

One can have honor, one can have the sacraments, one can sing alleluia, one can answer amen, one can have faith in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, and preach it too, but never can one find salvation except in the Catholic Church.” (Sermo ad Caesariensis Ecclesia plebem)
Origen (died A.D. 254): “Let no man deceive himself. Outside this house, that is, outside the Church no one is saved.” (In Iesu Nave homiliae)
Saint Ambrose (died A.D. 397): “Where Peter is therefore, there is the Church. Where the Church is there is not death but life eternal. …Although many call themselves Christians, they usurp the name and do not have the reward.” (The Fathers of the Church )
Saint Cyprian (died A.D.
…And as for heretics, I have never spared them; on the contrary, I have seen to it in every possible way that the Church’s enemies are also my enemies.” (Manual of Patrology and History of Theology)

WWll started, it destroys peace in America, ever since then America never be the same, God doesn't like to see that happen, But the people taste of killing and destroy the peace, compare before it is two different worlds, it is shame the way we did, let us together and pray to God, give us the peace!
*nahum 1:7* _"The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him."_
God knows the one who trust him instead of trusting themselves to get into heaven.
That's simple salvation.
The oil in the lamp is symbolism for the requirement of salvation : you have it then you get it, if you don't have it then you don't get it.
This passage is made for everyone to confess out loud what they think the oil is:
- does it come from you and your performance somehow? Do you have to buy it?
- does it come from God, and is a gift?
If you believe you must perform something (works/obedience), then you are not saved since you reject the gift ... by wanting to pay for it.
If you believe salvation is a gift from God and that there is no counterpart, then you are saved.
*the will of the Father you must do:*
john 6:38-40 _"38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."_
doing the will of the Father = believing on the son to have eternal life.
not doing the will of the Father = believing in something else to have eternal life, like the son + your performance for example.

@@tony1685 ur sad too.
@@tony1685 1st of all, b4 i look into further and as usual Protestants take bible verses out of context and cherry pick what they want to fit their philosophy and doctrines while ignoring other verses. What documents, doctrines, dogmas are cited for the (10) responses that "The Roman Catholic Church...." Seems to me like a general statement. Thank you Tony for pushing me to be open and have the Holy Spirit guide me back into my Catholic Faith. Persecutors, nay sayers, haters, condemners, distractors hated Jesus Christ 1st, in that I take comfort.
@@tony1685thank you, yes it is my free will; no influence from any spouse to follow them so as not to sacrifice the ending of the marriage. praise almighty God for his love, wisdom, and mercy. Peace be with you. Amen.

Oil=grace and so we can have grace and lose it- have sanctification and burn it out by our sins.
There were 10 virgins waiting for the bridegroom. 5 were spiritual and the other 5 were religious. The difference between religious people and spiritual people is The Holy Spirit.
I said before this parable guides everything I do, 2 pens etc. Many say they know Jesus(personal relationship) but does Jesus know them?
@@tony1685 If you keep ALL the commandments all of the time well done. Take the next step. Go sell everything you have and give the money to the poor. No institution can serve 2 masters. Are we expected to be perfect in an imperfect world? Lots of people think they are and do not seek reconciliation. Are you one of them? Don't try to change the church from outside. Time is running out get back in before it is too late.
I truly can't grasp some concepts of catholicism and orthodoxy but being of different understandings shouldn't be a reason to anathematize each other. I often ask myself "how could God let this schisms happen?". Maybe there is a salvific reason: to save as much as possible, including those who aren't fit for the what you would call the "fullness of truth", wich triggers the question "fuller" than Jesus Himself? Like I said, ignorant of many things...
I can't look into your hearts so I can't judge. Is Jesus your Lord and saviour - that's what we all should ask ourselves.
Therefore, thank God for Jesus! If he isn't enough... nothing is.
God bless and protect you all, especially from the rising islamic terror.
God bless you!
God gave us free will and it is up to us to choose so it looks like we like division.
I don't understand why people who are saving the same Master can fight other though.
We should pray for peace especially that we have greater enemies. Our enemies don't care in which domination you belong too

So brother Brant you are saying we have 3 explanations of the last judgement in chapter 25?
A great sermon from a pastor and he explains clearly about the parable of 10 virgins is "1 10 16 The parable of the 10 virgins" after you watch it and you say I've never knew it explain like that.
They have to “buy the oil” by paying with their own blood into heaven because “the door shut” means that they were excluded from the rapture and will serve as tribulation saints

What I find interesting is that half were ready, half were not. He does not say five wise and two unwise. Personally, I take this to mean half the adult population that know right from wrong, will be shut out.
Matthew 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Why is the bride never mentioned in the analysis of this parable? Isn’t the Church the bride? Isn’t the bride already on the inside of the door? There can be no wedding without the bride. Are all of the bridesmaids those who are outside the Church?
Why it is mentioned 10 virgins instead of 10 women.
They have to be virgins: All virgins are women but not all women are virgins! Clear?
Do you know what virgins are? Of course nowadays there are very few virgins. Probably you can’t find any virgins among 16 year olds now!!
too little, too late
It is scary to consider that even 50% could be shut out. Especially if that refers to 50% of believers.
It is scary. People better know Jesus and do his will.
Is it the brides maids should be virgins?
In this and many other instances our Lord told us, in his own words, that we do NOT have a reasonable expectation that all men are saved. I would hope a certain bishop would stop that hideous teaching and spend more time trying to save endangered souls than being on American Ninja.
I am trying my hardest to be worthy of Jesus' sacrifice.

So there is no purgatory for the 5 foolish ones?
And where is the cross and resurection in this interpretation?? Where is kerygma in this interpretation? Where is the good news??
You could see the cross and resurrection, the means of our salvation, in the fact that the 5 bridesmaids were even able to enter the wedding (Heaven), as opposed to those 5 who were not able to enter (Hell.)
When you take specific passages of the Bible, you are not always going to see the passages which explicitly say how one is saved, but they all nonetheless help lead one to salvation.
Protestants call themselves Christians but they are not, only true practicing Catholics are Christians and there is "NO SALVATION OUTSIDE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH", only the Catholic Church has the KEYS to the Kingdom of Heaven, this is true DOGMA.
the truth hurts!
@@tony1685 Tony there is nothing like Bible Truth OK,.... Truth is Truth at all times and season, nothing like Bible Truth.
@po18guy It matters not, as what you said proves you to be completely worthless.
What is the right relationship to have?
The one that claims the Messiah is God is the lie.
The one that say the Father is One is the true one and the Messiah a servant of, not equal to is the correct relationship to have.
Funny I am convinced this is what Jesus will say to anyone who has followed the false doctrines of the Catholic Church
The only false doctrines are those of protestants. "What has been, that will be; what has been done, that will be done. Nothing is new under the sun!" Ecclesiastes 1:9
All the heresies that have been rejected by the Church that Jesus Christ founded, the Catholic Church, have been regurgitated by protestants. The heresies rejected by the early Church are the same as those propagated by the protestants of today.

@@anonamos3287, the only false doctrines and pagan beliefs are yours. Please wake up and see the Truth, otherwise the following will be your fate:
"“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?’
Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers." Matthew 7:21-23

Unfortunately the verse you are referring to is for those who claim a man is God, or those who define God is three and not One.
If you are one who called the Messiah your God instead of Our Father in heaven, then those verses are there for you, not me I am still on the straight path and have not forsaken the truth for human doctrine.
