You are right about Angelina’s career being a family affair. Her Grandma Mery was a child prodigy artist and poet in Iran. Mery is a big jazz fan and introduced Angelina to jazz at a very young age. By the time Angelina was 3 she was studying the jazz greats on TH-cam. Mery has directed and produced several of Angelina’s videos. Angelina made her own AGT outfit and used Mery’s artwork for the design. As you said, uncle Mike is Angelina’s manager. He came to LA to scout the area and learn the business before the family moved from Norway. He also appeared a couple of her videos. Angelina’s mother Sara has been by her side since the beginning and always accompanies in all her endeavors. She is also the executive producer of the documentary you just watched. Angelina has said that she gets her lyrics and song ideas from her journals which she has been writing in since she was a little girl. In the documentary that you started with she said that she reads through the journals when she’s sitting at the piano and that’s how she gets inspired. She started writing songs at about 10 years old and said that she has written over 100. 12 have been released to date. Having written that many songs it would seem that they don’t all have cowriters from the start. From interviews it seems that the cowriters help her finish up the song and craft it. This may be why many of her cowriters are actually the producers of the songs. In Million Miles several of the lines are things that her grandfather had actually said to her. The opening line about when she was a child and walking the street refers to when her grandfather would take her with him to help the the homeless on the streets.
Wait til you see the Christmas concert arranged by life long legendary musicians of Frank, Ella, Etta etc who were so enamored that they created this event. The super band and her voice was so connected like we had been listening every Christmas for 40 years now. Absolutely great livestream! even though I could not actually make it for the Live! I did just now finished watching it! I love when you guys react to Angelina! She has been my only go to vocal artist for great music for 10+ years (and counting) ! I my 82 years (and counting😂) I have heard many, many great vocalists, but I have NEVER had one hit me with the emotion, and control, and sound, and tone, and uniqueness, and on and on, that Angelina does (No one else even close)!!! There are so many of her songs that I could recommend, but of her over 250 songs, over 200+ of them are in my top 5 songs she has done! That said, for a future livestream I would suggest her 6 song EP "Old Enough"! Every song is great and in order they tell a story! Thanks again for a great livestream!
Queen gave her the copyright to her version they were so impressed. For I’d Rather Go Blind she was singing with the new mike she was given for her 12th birthday and just had to try it out. Note she had it backwards! There’s a mashup with Angelina and Chris Stapleton with him singing Tennessee Whiskey. She arranged Feelin’ Good (you said nice arrangement). By ten she was arranging all the songs she sang. This was a concert in Norway with some of Norwegian’s great jazz musicians. I’ve been following Angelina since a child and have never heard that Stargate helped her with Million Miles.

I couldn't be here for the live session, but have watched this through a couple of times. I would draw your attention to two things. You know that we have various nicknames for Angelina, and one of them is "The Girl of 1000 Voices". As you look through her archives from very early on, you can see that she's studied all the great jazz singers. She's also studied Adele and Amy Winehouse and Elvis, among others. She has gone from mimicking (in her early years) to copying the styles and colors of these artists and has added them all to her palette from which she paints rich and satisfying vocals. The same girl sang both the smooth and emotionally wrenching "Unchained Melody" and the gritty, bluesy "Bad Valentine". You never know exactly what you're going to get, but it will always be great. Then I would point out her incredible ability to find and communicate the core emotions of a lyric. As we say, she UNcovers songs. Songs you've heard a thousand times by many artists, but only really understood what the song was trying to say when Angelina sang it. And when she does this, she often reaches deep into our souls and touches something that moves us. I saw tears in your eyes more than once in this session. There is no shame in those tears. The greatest compliment you can give to an artist is to let them know that you have been moved by their art. Just keep the tissues handy, because she WILL make you cry again!

I saw that you traveled to Europe recently to see Dimash - you may want to take a similar pilgrimage to LA on Sept 20 to see Angelina ... BEFORE she explodes into public acclaim (she's still largely unknown here in the US) and starts filling bigger venues at higher prices. No venue has been announced yet for LA but her last 2 concerts were before crowds in the 1,000 range.

Great job guys! I really enjoyed it even if it is in the middle of the night here in Sweden.
One additional advantage she has is thicker vocal chords that allow her to hit lower notes and yet still has developed her higher range also. She is also now not only attracting musicians but also is collaborating with some of the top songwriters like Diane Warren and Toby Gad! Agreed, Mainstream Music is crap now days...like the guys said, it is all smoke and mirrors and hocus pocus with pitch correction, auto tune, mixing, digital enhancements and so on. 80% of these so called "stars" would not be anything without all the bells and whistles. I will never hear Million Miles without crying. You guys might want to hear her concert version from 2022 in Norway, where she holds that high belting note with a showstopping anguish. Thanks for your great show, Throga! And for expanding Angelina's visibility with your reactions. Suggestions for future AJ reactions: Love Don't Let Me Go or Diamond from her recent EP; her original debuted in the Vegas show, Princess of Ruins; and Killing Me Softly, her performance at the Kurbadhagen Norway concert in 2022 (tons of gems in those performances that summer).

As much as you covered here - and you have touched on some iconic performances - there remains much fertile territory to explore. I am particularly fond of AJ's Norwegian jazz concerts at ages 11 and 12 (Lovin' You, Cry Me a River, ...), her at-home recordings done with a single guitar accompaniment (Stay, Crazy, ...), and her 2021 Christmas Concert music (particularly You Say). Beyond those, there are her 2022 Norwegian Concerts, her EP entitled "Old Enough" and her two Las Vegas Concerts this year.
I would add that there are several others that are flashing through my mind as I write this! Her body of work is truly amazing! And now September 20 lurks with its promise of the introduction of a new phase in the work of this truly amazing interpreter and writer of music!

Her Grandma Mery was a child prodigy artist and poet in Iran. Mery is a big jazz fan and introduced Angelina to jazz at a very young age. By the time Angelina was 3 she was studying the jazz greats on TH-cam. Mery has directed and produced several of Angelina’s videos. Angelina made her own AGT outfit and used Mery’s artwork for the design.
As you said, uncle Mike is Angelina’s manager. He came to LA to scout the area and learn the business before the family moved from Norway. He also appeared a couple of her videos.
Angelina’s mother Sara has been by her side since the beginning and always accompanies in all her endeavors. She is also the executive producer of the documentary you just watched.

Angelina has said that she gets her lyrics and song ideas from her journals which she has been writing in since she was a little girl. In the documentary that you started with she said that she reads through the journals when she’s sitting at the piano and that’s how she gets inspired.
She started writing songs at about 10 years old and said that she has written over 100. 12 have been released to date.
Having written that many songs it would seem that they don’t all have cowriters from the start. From interviews it seems that the cowriters help her finish up the song and craft it. This may be why many of her cowriters are actually the producers of the songs.
In Million Miles several of the lines are things that her grandfather had actually said to her. The opening line about when she was a child and walking the street refers to when her grandfather would take her with him to help the the homeless on the streets.
Wait til you see the Christmas concert arranged by life long legendary musicians of Frank, Ella, Etta etc who were so enamored that they created this event. The super band and her voice was so connected like we had been listening every Christmas for 40 years now. Quincy jones flew her in to open his 85 birthday concerrt with the very arrangement he made for sinatra

Absolutely great livestream! even though I could not actually make it for the Live! I did just now finished watching it! I love when you guys react to Angelina! She has been my only go to vocal artist for great music for 10+ years (and counting) ! I my 82 years (and counting😂) I have heard many, many great vocalists, but I have NEVER had one hit me with the emotion, and control, and sound, and tone, and uniqueness, and on and on, that Angelina does (No one else even close)!!! There are so many of her songs that I could recommend, but of her over 250 songs, over 200+ of them are in my top 5 songs she has done! That said, for a future livestream I would suggest her 6 song EP "Old Enough"! Every song is great and in order they tell a story! Thanks again for a great livestream!
Queen gave her the copyright to her version they were so impressed. For I’d Rather Go Blind she was singing with the new mike she was given for her 12th birthday and just had to try it out. Note she had it backwards! There’s a mashup with Angelina and Chris Stapleton with him singing Tennessee Whiskey. She arranged Feelin’ Good (you said nice arrangement). By ten she was arranging all the songs she sang. This was a concert in Norway with some of Norwegian’s great jazz musicians. I’ve been following Angelina since a child and have never heard that Stargate helped her with Million Miles.

I couldn't be here for the live session, but have watched this through a couple of times. I would draw your attention to two things. You know that we have various nicknames for Angelina, and one of them is "The Girl of 1000 Voices". As you look through her archives from very early on, you can see that she's studied all the great jazz singers. She's also studied Adele and Amy Winehouse and Elvis, among others. She has gone from mimicking (in her early years) to copying the styles and colors of these artists and has added them all to her palette from which she paints rich and satisfying vocals. The same girl sang both the smooth and emotionally wrenching "Unchained Melody" and the gritty, bluesy "Bad Valentine". You never know exactly what you're going to get, but it will always be great. Then I would point out her incredible ability to find and communicate the core emotions of a lyric. As we say, she UNcovers songs. Songs you've heard a thousand times by many artists, but only really understood what the song was trying to say when Angelina sang it. And when she does this, she often reaches deep into our souls and touches something that moves us. I saw tears in your eyes more than once in this session. There is no shame in those tears. The greatest compliment you can give to an artist is to let them know that you have been moved by their art. Just keep the tissues handy, because she WILL make you cry again!
