I started listening to Angelina in 2017 and back then she was developing her “Fry-brato®️.” It’s only gotten better since then an NO ONE even comes close. And those “little birdie notes…” oh my, what a combination. Angelina can do it ALL and the stars ✨⭐️🌟💫✨ are the limit! 🎶💙🫶💙👣 * I just recently came up with “Fry-brato” but I am not the first. 🙄🤷🏻♂️ Adding the word vibrato to vocal fry (and removing vocal) softens the word and is (IMHO) a more beautiful moniker for Angelina’s singularly unique technique.

Both versions are wonderful. Due to the arrangement and the singing they tell a different story even though the lyrics are the same. The more upbeat version is strong, powerful, sorry-not-sorry. This version is slower, more melancholic with a sadder feel, with regret and introspective. ❤
Every version of this song is amazing, because it's a great song. Each version gives a different feel and she almost makes them 3 different songs. I agree that this "jazzy" version sounds the best with the simple music and featuring Angelina's vocals. But, I like the "attitude" she puts into the others of her being the "Bad" Valentine. No one can cover Angelina like Angelina. We are used to her completely changing other artists’ originals into new and improved originals. It is testament to her musicality that she can (and will!) also do that to her own material. Angelina is hungry for success in pop, so I wish thar for her. But jazz is so close to her heart that I think she’ll continue to explore other versions like this. I believe that is where she will truly shine. She can become one of the very best pop or R&B singers, but in reality, that stuff is just too easy for her.

Here, she takes her own song ang creates a third version that personifies the very essence of jazz. Angelina is born to sing jazz. Nick, it was awesome to be back on one of your Twitch livestreams, where you record your reactions. Buying a new phone, was the reason why I stopped getting notifications when you went live. I am on my laptop 98% of the time and finally realized I needed to download the Twitch app on my phone to get notifications. I agree with you Nick, this is my favorite version of "Bad Valentine". The majority of people prefer "clean singers" while I prefer all the things Angelina is able to do with her voice, to tell the story of the song. She is only 18 and continuing to improve. Scary, but exciting.
First, I have to say that you and Mr Boyd are the two best jazz reactors I have found. Your singer based comments are peerless. So much in this piece: Angelina seems like her tool bag is full, but she keeps on surprising us with her classical style of scat and falsetto control, her ability to fry everything, with vibrato throughout her entire range, even as she sings softly. Her technical skills have grown so much, and it’s clear that her voice still has so much in the tank, and she is still growing and maturing. Her phrasing and ASMR (chills and hair raising) generation is so good. If you listen Many times, the little things become obvious- the last “violets are blewwwwwwuhh!” And the ascending 3rd and 5th on the extended “your heart” when she ends the high note with a drop sustain and if feels like a zipper opens, just genius. Angelina has literally shocked me, I love her voice and I am more and more in awe of her unstoppable musical evolution, I would never have expected that at her age she had already reached such a stratospheric level of vocal perfection. This is truly a beautiful song perfectly arranged for her voices (so many!), both in the first blues version and in this later jazz version, but what she creates in this melancholic and sad version is indescribable and absolutely astonishing, also for the apparent ease with which she does it, in reality the instrumental accompaniment is little more than a simple pleasant decoration, her voice alone is enough to reproduce the emotional effect of a whole orchestra. She is a truly eclectic and extraordinary artist, I understand well why Toby is enraptured by her talent, being able to collaborate with a singer like her leaves a boundless space for musical imagination, you probably can't even imagine what vocal wonders she can create. Saw Joss Stone in concert this summer in Nashville, Indiana.
No one can cover Angelina like Angelina. We are used to her completely changing other artists’ originals into new and improved originals. It is testament to her musicality that she can (and will!) also do that to her own material.
Angelina is hungry for success in pop, so I wish thar for her. But jazz is so close to her heart that I think she’ll continue to explore other versions like this. I believe that is where she will truly shine. She can become one of the very best pop or R&B singers, but in reality, that stuff is just too easy for her.

Nick, it was awesome to be back on one of your Twitch livestreams, where you record your reactions. Buying a new phone, was the reason why I stopped getting notifications when you went live. I am on my laptop 98% of the time and finally realized I needed to download the Twitch app on my phone to get notifications. I agree with you Nick, this is my favorite version of "Bad Valentine". The majority of people prefer "clean singers" while I prefer all the things Angelina is able to do with her voice, to tell the story of the song. She is only 18 and continuing to improve. Scary, but exciting.

First, I have to say that you and Mr Boyd are the two best jazz reactors I have found. Your singer based comments are peerless.
So much in this piece: Angelina seems like her tool bag is full, but she keeps on surprising us with her classical style of scat and falsetto control, her ability to fry everything, with vibrato throughout her entire range, even as she sings softly. Her technical skills have grown so much, and it’s clear that her voice still has so much in the tank, and she is still growing and maturing.
Her phrasing and ASMR (chills and hair raising) generation is so good.
If you listen Many times, the little things become obvious- the last “violets are blewwwwwwuhh!” And the ascending 3rd and 5th on the extended “your heart” when she ends the high note with a drop sustain and if feels like a zipper opens, just genius.
If this song gets heard, it will get a Grammy nomination. How can we help make that happen?

Angelina has literally shocked me, I love her voice and I am more and more in awe of her unstoppable musical evolution, I would never have expected that at her age she had already reached such a stratospheric level of vocal perfection. This is truly a beautiful song perfectly arranged for her voices (so many!), both in the first blues version and in this later jazz version, but what she creates in this melancholic and sad version is indescribable and absolutely astonishing, also for the apparent ease with which she does it, in reality the instrumental accompaniment is little more than a simple pleasant decoration, her voice alone is enough to reproduce the emotional effect of a whole orchestra. She is a truly eclectic and extraordinary artist, I understand well why Toby is enraptured by her talent, being able to collaborate with a singer like her leaves a boundless space for musical imagination, you probably can't even imagine what vocal wonders she can create. Her creativity is simply enchanting and astonishing. 💛🧡❤
