I just decided after years of looking at them to get a lightning otf. All of my autos are all out the side I own bokers and couple paragons and have a very large benchmade tanto from early 90s it's awesome and a few kershaw launch models I never wanted another otf because of the microtech I owned 1998 I hated it paid like $500 and it was nothing but trouble so I stuck with ots . I ordered a lightning just to see if i might like it and want more otfs

TD is right. the button on the infidel blows goats. also...if there is any momentum while moving the knife backwards and trying to open it at the same time....it opens about 50% of the time. I've even sent mine back to benchmade. same when it came back. weak spring.

I clean mine with break clean now and again and blow it out with compressed air.

I’ve had these type of switch/push knives before but never carried them because im afraid on them opening in my pocket.. im an active person and my job sometimes requires me to crawl around and im always rubbing up on something. is this a legit concern?
Andrew Eisele not a legit concern. If you use the pocket clip the trigger won’t be bothered. I carry a boker kalishnakov that’s a button fire and no problems.
I just got a Lightning OTF and I think it would be pretty hard to make it accidentally fire in your pocket..plus it has a safety feature that causes the blade to come off track if it hits an obstacle while firing.I tested it out on a Hardee’s burger box and even with the dual edged dagger blade,it barely even pierced that thin box..if it didn’t end up hitting your thigh it would barely break the skin,if at all...like the guy said above me,I have also been carrying a Boker Kalashnikov auto for a while and it is button fired but it has never went off in my pocket..I don’t think I could make it open in my pocket without trying to..I think the slide lever on an OTF would be even harder to make accidentally fire

Where can you buy the new Lightning TNP that you are reviewing? I have checked all over the internet with no success. I recently bought a SOS, and a Ravencrest Titan and would like to compare it with the $49 TNP.
How about a surf green with black blade Lightning? It would go well with the baby blue knife. The surf green should be like on a Fender Stratocaster. I received my knife on Monday and it looks great. Thank you sir.
From what I understand, this is blade HQ just in a smaller OTF-centric shop. I suspect it's easier to compartmentalize them in case of trouble. Some states may make it tougher to sell to and it could hold up nonrestricted blade orders. Just a theory. -Doodle
Grindworx is where blade HQ sells their budget junk... Not just OTF's but cheaper poor reputation blades. Maybe one or two decent brands but thats it. Can't really say lightnings are quality when it's using no name steels

Hey Nutn, given your background in the military and experience with aerial combat, what is your opinion on Space Force ? What's your view on high-altitude/low air density or space warfare ? (given that your opinion is about as good as anybody else's, since there's never been a space war) Maybe you could make a video about the different potential tactics (using asteroids for cover, using the gravity well to curve your shots to shoot at targets on the other side of the planet, ....). Like, how would the maneuvering change if you have no air to slow you down, what would airless maneuvering look like ? You may think there won't be any tactics, but even at sea, where there's NO cover, it still takes a skilled tactician to win a naval battle.... Also, the battlefield of the future may be different, but if you look at military history, some things never change (I'd like to know what your opinion, on what those things might be, is)
I had been looking for another one of these. Still have the first one, and occasionally annoy the wife opening and closing it while watching TV. It still works better for that than the dark green Klash you guys recommended!
Wish I could upload a photo. A satin black lightning has been my primary edc blade since a week after you first reviewed it years ago. It's worn down to the pot metal in most places. I'll be keeping this baby blue proudly deplayed with my other Nutn memorabilia... In a pile somewhere on my gun bench. :-) My original still has plenty of life in it yet.

Got the two-tone one today. I have quite a few $200-$400 blades, and this thing rivals them. I was most impressed. The materials don't meet the level of those knives, however the fit and finish is not bad at all. I do wish the TNP logo was larger.

I've owned one it was really nice good regardless of price. I did have to oil mine too keep it running but the 2 holes on the bottom made it really easy.
Im kinda late to the Party... if you happen to have the og lightning laying around... and some ZT like a ZT0450 or one with the same pocket clip design.. could you try to mount the ZT Clip on the Lightning? Try to find a Clip that allows a bit more deep carry and that might work. Even though the price would double lol
My guess would be long trigger travel is a safety feature for in-pocket carry - similar to a wheel gun trigger. Wouldn't want an accidental deployment into the jewels.
Living both of mine; two toned #561 & 580. I think I've deployed 561 about 500x since getting it and it's running great. A couple guys at the PD are looking at getting other models.

I've owned one it was really nice good regardless of price. I did have to oil mine too keep it running but the 2 holes on the bottom made it really easy.

Im kinda late to the Party... if you happen to have the og lightning laying around... and some ZT like a ZT0450 or one with the same pocket clip design.. could you try to mount the ZT Clip on the Lightning? Try to find a Clip that allows a bit more deep carry and that might work. Even though the price would double lol
My guess would be long trigger travel is a safety feature for in-pocket carry - similar to a wheel gun trigger. Wouldn't want an accidental deployment into the jewels.
Living both of mine; two toned #561 & 580. I think I've deployed 561 about 500x since getting it and it's running great. A couple guys at the PD are looking at getting other models.
