We can carry any style of a blade in India ... you can design a blade that shoots out of your dick when you get a boner and it will not be illegal here.
*It is illegal in India* to carry a knife (blade) beyond 9 inches long and 2 inches wide, as it comes under the ambit of the definition of “prohibited arms” under The Indian Arms Act 1959. Carrying the kind of knife which is below 9 inches in length and 2 inches in width is thus allowed.
So size does matter after all who knew!?
So although we can carry this OTF style blade I have zero ideas as to why you would want to.
What purpose or functionality does it display? I only see a gimmick with a weak/short blade that will have a short novelty value of the sound you hear *sccccccccccccccchick* when it is deployed. It is not a survival knife/bushcraft/combat/dive/SRK ... what does it do effectively other than do the *sccccccccccccccchick* sound reasonably well?
      I am confused!

I’ll make this short and sweet. Many, if not all, of us who have muscular dystrophy and other muscle diseases absolutely need a pocket knife like this. I carry a pocket knife, and it’s hell trying to open it because my hands are so weak. I’ll have an OTF knife very soon.

That's completely up to the individual. Microtech knives range from $180 for production models to well into the thousands for custom pieces. The Ultratech, IMO, remains to be one of the best US built OTF knives for the money, it's only true competition being the Guardian Tactical Recon 035, which is almost exactly the same price at about $270.

    • @metal_complex
      @metal_complex  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

The argument about steel here is being fueled by misinformation. "American steel" and "Taiwan steel" isn't a good way to think about it because most OEMs have access to the same steels regardless of their geographic location. Bohler, carpenter, crucible etc sell indiscriminately to everyone. Varying quality is not a result of the country it's made in, Its the result of the individual maker/OEM's ability to produce the final product. So ya, Taiwan has produced some junk but so has the US. Same with most countries. You can definitely buy a knife that's made in Taiwan and also uses American crucible steel. Look at Spyderco's Taichung Taiwan line for reference.

Best budget otf hands down. Nothing even comes close until the 80-100$ mark. Very well made, good overall knife for daily use. Just don’t stab it into things when you’re bored or hit it with a hammer to test the durability. It’s strong as crap, but it’s only an aluminum housing. You literally can’t beat this price. It might be budget friendly, but it’s a tough knife. I think the blade is on the cheaper end for 440C, though it could be metal originally from Pakistan. Just be careful where you order. Bladehq, grindworx are reputable, I don’t recommend an order through dhgate.

I've got a Microtech UTX-70 which I have owned for quite some time, very disappointed with it. This thing misfires so much it's embarrassing to pull out and show to anyone. It was sent back to Microtech once already and came back as the same crap action for which Microtech says there's nothing wrong with and that OTF knives misfire "sometimes"...yeah, really? It misfires at least 1 in 5 times...never again.
My Lightning, which I have owned for a few years might, might, misfire once in a hundred shots.
Does the Microtech have better steel, absolutely...does it have anything else at all in its favor, absolutely NO.

Jason Brown how do you like the AKC F16..before I found these Lightning OTFs I was planning on buying the AKC F16 from BladeHQ..I may end up buying both...after the holidays are over I’m gonna pick up a CobraTec OTF,their small versions are around $100,medium around $120 and large around $140..after doing a lot of research the CobraTec is what I’ve landed on.I read multiple comments and reviews of people saying they liked the CobraTec OTFs better than their much more expensive Microtech Ultratechs and Benchmade Infidels...I think OTFs are awesome but I refuse to spend $300-$600 like they charge for Microtech and Benchmade..I’m willing to spend $150 max but I figured the Lightning OTF and/or the AKC F16 would be great to hold me over until the holidays are over...I want it for the fidget factor and the cool factor mostly,I don’t see anything replacing my Bradford Guardian 3 for my main EDC knife but unlike my Guardian 3,I could play with an OTF all day..lol

@@garrettferrell6821 i have a video for the f16 and the lightning. They are long winded and will put most people asleep. In short i have both the f16 and the lighting, the lighting seems more practical in terms of size, the f16 just feels so small. Both feel built better than i expected. My lighting has failed me. The front hook on the slide broke and i was able to repair this, but a few weeks later the bsck hook also broke thr same fix would not apply. Its sitting in peicea on my table while i try to find parts. Btw i play with these otfs constantly but i have only had them a few months at this point

Thanks for the reply,I believe I will get a Lightning but more as a fidget toy than a knife to depend on.I often carry 2 knives,my Guardian 3 is my everyday use knife.I also carry a Boker Kalashnikov but it’s more my current fidget toy than something I really use.not that it isn’t a plenty capable because it is but my Guardian 3 gets sharper and holds a much better edge.its also considerably stronger(obviously being a fixed blade)and more comfortable to use..The Kalashnikov is just so much funner to play..I’m ready to move on to an OTF for even more fun..lol..I think I’m gonna order the Lightning OTF just to hold me over until I can buy a CobraTec

I have always believed that a person should be able to carry what they want, as long as they commit no crimes with them. If they use them for violence, then persecute them. Unless they do something illegal with the blade/gun, leave them alone.

I’m really bummed because I bought a Lightning elite after seeing all the great videos of reviews of them and I got a pile of shit. Within two days and maybe 100 or so firings mine fails to come out and lock probably once every twenty times which is ridiculously high. I have a Microtech Ultratech that has a miserably hard and stiff action so I much prefer to fidget with the lightning but it’s a huge buzz kill when the piece of garbage misfires so often. Just my luck that I got a lemon.

I'm a knife-guy, but never had the serious thought to buy a OTF-knife, until i realized that it's LEGAL here and THIS IS SAFER than the regular PocketKnife ppl carry/use.
So much easier to deploy/undeploy one handed (undeploy?) and therefore less prone to accidents.
    7:20
As you say, the Wow/Scary/Gangster-factor has made these tools "scary" and "only thugs use them".
But for the average "working man" (or woman) it's a tool that you can use/deploy/secure with ONE HAND - when all your other limbs are occupied - In a safer manner.
    So i bought a couple...
