I’s 61 and I think the biggest change I’ve seen in women’s wear over the last 40 years is the mixing of different moods, or levels of formality. When I was a young career woman in the 80s, a silky skirt had to be worn with a silky top and pumps, for example, ; a t-shirt and sneakers with it would have been unthinkable. So would be jeans with a silky or lacy blouse. Being able to mix like this adds versatility, individuality and comfort. I remember the first time I wore a (really nice) t-shirt with my suit, it was so fun.

Agreed when I started my first job in the late 1980s, traditional dress codes still applied (skirts and dresses only, not trousers). Now my current office doesn't have an official dress code except that it must be the smarter side of casual (scruffy, sloppy casual is obviously not acceptable), so I only wear trousers or jeans. There are still those are dress more formally but it is not expected.

love that you added in chunky boots, they really help me to dress things down so I can wear them without feeling overdone either with skirts, dresses jeans and trousers. By the way that Zara coat with fur top and bottom, when I saw it online I knew Trinny would at least get it to try it is right up her street imo.

I never go anywhere except about twice a year. But I love dressing up. I just dress up every day if I can. So many people have said to me ‘You look lovely, where are you going?’ Me: ‘Tesco’s’. Haha
So agree that as a woman I follow certain unwritten style rules about how I should dress at work. I have tried to stay away from black, but lately I'm wearing more of it ☹️ Love, love, love the orange 🍊 The hardest working piece of clothing in my wardrobe is a black stringy top. It has a v-shape at the front and has a lace type pattern on the back, but what's amazing about it is, it is lined and the cut is longer at the back and shorter at the front. Covers the bum and still looks neat. Also whatever way the cut it, it is very slimming, I'm going to get another one made. Love the videos Trinny 💚

One request/idea for future video: garment maintenance! Meaning how to maintain shape, color, avoid pilling etc..
not sure pilling can be avoided even on expensive things. Since I got an electric de-bobbler I managed not to throw away a couple of pairs of trousers and just go over coat sleeves at the wrist and wear your bag goes does help.

My firm finally relaxed the very corporate, very serious dress code to business casual with "smart" jeans and I feel like I can finally inject my personality into my office attire. Cole Haan Zerogrand are my work trainers. I used to wear them to the office then change into my heels, but I just stopped changing into the heels.

Might just be your place then. Dress codes generally have relaxed a lot over the past few years in a many offices. People only wear the more traditional formal clothes now if they are specifically meeting clients or work in certain professions which still insist upon it.
I personally have worn a whole variety of coloured plimsolls and trainers to work many times and noone has said anything yet (large office where many people are even more casual!!!).
