MUMBAI UNIVERSITY (VLOG

Our second stop is another quick photo opportunity, this time outside of the University of Mumbai, as well as the High Court building across the street (which at first I mistake for a church). One can see how it takes its inspiration from the architecture of the English universities such as Oxford and Cambridge, although, not personally being familiar with either school, I couldn't say which one it best approximates.
For that matter, I realize that I'm unable to compare Mumbai to New York, despite the theoretically obvious similarities between the relationships each city has to their home country. The most significant reason for this is that I've no experience with New York City, nor at this point do I necessarily wish to, although I suppose I could be persuaded…
In any event, as regards the university of Mumbai and its forebears, one would expect the level and quality of education there to be on a certain par with them. Say what you will about the faults of the English colonial rule (and there were undeniably many), but it did introduce a certain level of education (as well as a unifying, if only on a secondary basis at best, language in the form of English) to the Indian subcontinent, and throughout the Commonwealth
