This may confusing. But I will try to explain what he's doing in Falcon, step by step in the video. 1. He turned off some flight component in the left console (and testing?) 2. At the right console he turned off all avionics power, dim all interior lightings and turned off HUD components. 3. At center, he dim the HUD light. 4. And last, he pull the throttle from IDLE to NULL (from fuel standby to fuel cut-off). The engine will no longer running because no fuel flowing.
Turtle lastion Interesting, so there is no danger of a post shutdown fire? or an engine temperature that stays very high even after shutdown that you wouldn't want to dry motor to help wth cooling or to attempt to blow out a potential post shutdown fire? Just asking...
Turtle lastion I understand turning off the avionics and all, I was just curious about the lack of attention to FTIT on spool down, and I base that on the direction the camera was pointing so I assumed it was strapped to the operator's head, thus, the appearance of not monitoring the engine, thats all...
Eagle 6 We don't have to. I also never considered about temperature when shutting down, because the engine no longer produce heat (Some heat may stay in the engine). The engine then cooled by itself (I'm not sure what happen with the engine when Deactivated). But remember to never push the throttle again when spool down (the engine is still moving) because this can cause explosion. Note: if there's really a Post-shutdown fire, use the fire extinguisher inside the engine.
Awesome. I hope when I join the Air Force, I'll be flying our F-16's as well. I just think now with, seeing you turning all these buttons and all.. its just so cool if you know what they all do. Ofcourse its a matter of time to get to know them, but still..It's awesome :) Thanks for sharing!
Well there is a lot of hydraulics, battery, master, generator,APU,all those also have checklists to turn them off,so yeah, one key won’t do it,you will need 20 keys of each mechanisms and systems.
Hmm is there kind of a checklist that you could give out? If its not classified, because i got interested in Falcon 4 AF again and i do not have a engine shutdown checklist, even in the Aeyes pits there is none.
You can start to learn it with Falcon 4.0 Allied Force or Open Falcon. With those combat flight simulator, you can even join a virtual fighter wing like I did. One of our virtual pilots is also a CF-18 (canadian version of the A/F-18) pilot.
macieksoft Block 40, 42, 50 and 52 all use the JHMCS. Older Block 30s and 32s use the Scorpion HMCS. Block 40/42 F-16s use a larger HUD in order to allow for video from the targeting pod to be projected on to it, because of the pods large field of view.
I'm not the video poster, but that other engine is from another jet running near by. The epu has a very different tone, and with the cockpit open, would sound much louder. Not to mention, the video poster definitely would stop record and get out rather than continue to demonstrate the shutdown.
@YGBSM16 Who flies fighters for 19 years? Most guys I know get to fly them for maybe 8-10 years at the max. And your profile says you're 31 now. All this negativity from a bullshitter. Bad.
YGBSM! You must really love yourself. I've been flying Vipers for 19 years and never thought about posting videos of myself shutting a motor off. Do you really jack with the FLCS panel before shutdown? Hope you have gotten some self-esteem by now. Please post your name/squadron, Mr. AirlinePilot20008.
The resolution in Falcon BMS is awesome!
amazing, how dirty and worn the panels and everything looks
If ur work place is in the desert...dust and sand every where... And it's incredible how blackish stuff no matter the material attract that stuff

Just out of curiosity, did you make it after 9 years?
I’d like to know to
@@sjonsjonnie8514 lol i was about to ask that
Curiosity eats me a lot.
Guys, I know it´s not appriopriate, but this thought eats me from inside out... What if... he's no longer with us anymore?
sweet sound!

Don't know why but I love your old machine
I see such videos daily ..despite knowing that i never need to fly a jet..
Why don't they just make a key
Like in a car
Because they would lose the key between the sofa cushions.
Tom Servo oh yeah forgot about that

so much for just taking out the keys :P

When you chopped the throttle, why were you focused on the power panel and not on engine FTIT? Just asking...
Eagle 6 Because FTIT in shutdown is useless. You just need to cutoff the fuel and wait but we also want to turn off the avionics.

Did the block 40 not have the HMCS? and why did they change the hud in the block 40?
Yes, block 40 surrelly do not have HMCS. HMCS is feature of block 52+ (maybe block 50 have it too but i am not sure).

MY block 25, doe we have a real F16 pilot in the room xD
Just wondering, was that "secondary jet" that we heard the EPU? If so, are there precautions in place to safe you from the hydrazine?
I'm not the video poster, but that other engine is from another jet running near by. The epu has a very different tone, and with the cockpit open, would sound much louder. Not to mention, the video poster definitely would stop record and get out rather than continue to demonstrate the shutdown.
pull the ejection lever.. fastest way to shutdown the engine..
Rupert Cadenas That's just eject your seat. The aircraft's engine will keep running without any seats.
