You saved me. Chicago winters are ruff. My car was turning on whenever it wanted to all summer and i had seen this video so when i went to the junkyard for something else I grabbed me one. The car had stopped acting up until now so i just had the switch in my trunk but today it finally gave all the way out. I was mad at myself for being lazy but i said "ok" now i have no choice but to switch and hope that was the problem and now? So far, it starts like a dream!👍
@@donkeykongchang I pulled apart the old unit, and opened it up to find the contacts totally gummed up...last owner was a very heavy smoker. The fan control only works on 4...I expect for the same reason. Is there a simple fix?
Great video, it only took me minutes to take the old one out after watching your video. I really appreciate the time you took to make such a detailed video. I'm already subscribed to your channel, but I gave your video a "Like".
Can you help 03 oz too and wanted to ask ya did you have a complete and I mean complete loss of power inside the car when yours went out? Under the hood rn 12.4 v all day fuses fine. Ty
Common problem for lancers. FYI to others it might be worth the 40 dollars to try this, than to assume your perfectly running car doesn't have an issue with this part. Common symptom is having to rip the ignition to start your car. That's how I diagnosed it. Mine has to be in the exact right position
Sir, i have lancer 2004 too and i have some trouble with ignition sometime it wont start but the dynamo is starting should i replace the ignition switch?
when i start my car i need to step on the clutch. is that normal? and sometimes it takes 4 tries of trying to start the car. do i need to replace my ignition starter?
Ty so much' awesome video. I'm gonna order a new ignition switch and try this fix on my 02 es because it only starts when I try multiple times. and I've replaced a ton of other crap and now it's time to get it right. Same on my 93 impreza. Just wont crank.. ' thanks again
Great video thank you so much I just did some work on my lancer and let me tell you that your video came very very handy thanks so much keep up the good work 👍🏼
Thank you for this clear and helpful video! My 2004 Lancer had been getting harder and harder to start - whenever I turned the key to start nothing would happen though the dash lights and radio came on. I'd have to turn the steering wheel and try again. This week it finally would not start at all for me. Today, I replaced the switch per your instructions and it seems to have fixed the problem - however, now the key does turn smoothly in the lock. I noticed when I took my switch off, it had a graphite lube inside the hole that faces the key. I did not put any in the new switch, and I am wondering if that could be why it doesn't want to turn as smooth?
I just bought an 05 lancer does the same thing. Sometimes i turn the key and no response at all after a few times it cranks over. I will be doing the same thing.
Hey bub I have the aame car just 2006. I was wondering do you know where the starter relay is for this car? Ive channged the starter, battery, and ignition switch as shown in this video. Any help would be appreciated!
Also, may I kindly ask on the back side wheels area of my vehicle (Mitsubishi Lancer ES 2002) is Getting Bold From the inside both sides of the Tires.? Which Part do I Replace to Purchase.? Muchly Appreciated for A Prosperous Response... thank you
Typically it mean you have an alignment issue when you get boldness on the inside the tire. Check the link www.mycertifiedservice.com/tire-wear.html . Getting a rear alignment done should solve the issue.
What brand was the old switch and was it interchangeable with a different brand? My car is currently in need of this and the last time I bought a part it wouldn't fit
Hi! I bought a secondhand car from the dealership and he told me that he kind of replaced the ignition of the car that’s why he change the key of it I think the key is a bit older than the car, now I have this problem every time I turn the car on it won’t start until I jiggle ( shake )the key in order for it to start, and not just that when I turn off the car it will stock before the lock or final turn of the key in order for me to take out the key so what I always do is jiggle it again and push the key until I manage to fully turn the key into the lock mode, which will allow me to take the key out from the ignition, do you have an idea what’s the best thing to do for this? I’m your new subscriber here thanks
Sir mine is mitsubishi lancer 1997, when i start it,sometimes its just one click start and sometimes theres no response but the only the "tak" sound (sounds like lowbattery but i have new battery)and you have to turn many times the key before it start, what is the possible problem?
I have the excact issue, I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. I replaced the starter and the Ignition Switch and it’s worked for a day and now I have to turn the key like 6 times to get it to start up and actually engage the starter. And yeah it’s nearly impossible finding the starter relay, it seems to be no where online.
The original keys still work when I replaced the Ignition starter switch on my vehicle. The model of my lancer does not come with a remote so I can't confirm the remote part.
Good evening Mr. Chang. I'm thinking I'm having some problems with my ignition system. What it does: I put the key into ignition and turn to Acc, all dials and sounds come alive. I turn to ON and I hear nothing. I have to take my key out of the system and keep attempting to start the vehicle for it to work. When it does start, it runs smoothly Sometimes I have to turn it all the way to ON really fast to get it to start. What would the cause be? Cheers!
Your problem sound exactly like the issue I had on my Lancer. It did exactly as how you describe it on your vehicle. I replace the "Ignition Starter Switch" and the issue went away. Other causes might be the battery or even the starter. Sometime, diagnosing the problem will becomes more complex to solve.
The two green wire will lead to a "Switch" (a yellow box) behind the cylinder where the car key goes in. The electrical of your vehicle will not function correctly if the switch is not properly seat and screw on. The door remote control will stop working, there will be no chime when the doors are open, or roof light will not dim when the door is closed.
@@donkeykongchang sir what's the name of that harness with the 2 green wires? Can't find that part. The part u unscrew has 2 prongs in white box and they come out of their place on the one in my car
