No, they turned a sea into a lake and then that lake into land.
I love the Netherlands and the Dutch people, I’ve been there twice from Oz and I’d do it again in a Heartbeat. Beautiful place all over, and wonderful People. They also have some excellent Music, the reason why I travelled there in the first place, to see a Band called ‘The Gathering’. Great memories.
On TH-cam you can find The Gatering.
@@AdrievanZuidam I went over for their 25th Anniversary Shows, and again a few Years later for an Anneke Van Giersbergen Fan Weekend. Both very memorable indeed.
Oz?

Love from the Netherlands❤❤❤
to the Dutch the word impossible sounds like it's possible ! you know the Dutch have a saying "it ain't much if it ain't Dutch " lol
You said it well. The Dutch don't think in problems but see them as challenges. In this case they made a problem into an opportunity. The Zuiderzeeworks (Southsea works) and later the Deltaworks solved a big problem. And at the same time made them profitable for the country. They also solved the problem of frequent river floodings in a way that those rivers have become 'waterhighways' in Europe. This is why Rotterdam is now the biggest port in Europe. Many companies do the same. I've seen it personally when I lived and worked in The Netherlands for two years.
I guess it's in their DNA. You've probably heard of Shell, Philips, Heineken, Gouda cheese and Droste chocolate. All Dutch companies. They are also the biggest ship salvagers and dredgers in the world and the second food (!) and flower exporters in the world. They amaze me every time. Such a small country with very big achievements.
Nice to see you interested in my little country and it’s history. I live in the haarlemmermeer 7:10 , 5.5 meters below sea level. The afsluitdijk is a sight to behold. The oosterscheldekeerkring (nice word for people learning dutch😂) is the masterpiece. I like the inscription on the monument there ‘Hier gaan over het tij, de maan de wind en wij’. This rhymes in dutch and means as much as ‘here the tide is ruled, by the moon, the wind and us.’
It is impossible beacause the construction we made also has influence on weather. Also on natural life in the ocean. All of it would suffer if we diod any thing more. W lilke to keep stable.
Great video and comment 🇳🇱👍
