Just got Nexplanon inserted yesterday!! Insertion was relatively quick and painless. The only thing that was a bit painful was the lidocaine (numbing medicine) they give you. Thank you for making this video, without it I wouldn’t have gotten the implant

I was told I would gain weight and develop acne after getting it. Its been 7 months and I’ve lost 7 lbs and my skin has never been better. The bleeding is so unpredictable, I have to wear pads a lot of the time just in case which got expensive. My period has disappeared now which stresses me out because I prefer to have one come still.

Not to scare you but just my experience with the implant. I had the Nexplanon for 3 years (I was 18) and I never got my period in those 3 years. I got mine taken out about a year ago and my period is all over the place.. still a year later. I have a hormone imbalance and it seems impossible to fix. It’s good while it’s in, I never had any problems with it in. My period is just now messed up from taking the hormones out. I get my period for 2 weeks it’s about a week off and then I get it again. I wish I would have never done it. Not trying to scare you out of it cause it does effect everyone differently. Just wanted to share my experience.

Watching this after getting it. 😅 Did do my research tho. Got this after having my baby and the only thing that really worried me was the breastfeeding part. The numbing was the worst part, everything else went smoothly. Definitely knew this was it because Im really bad with pills... 😬 And I'm not trying to get a shot every couple of months. 😭 and I think tiktok permanently scared me for life with the IUD :/ I'm not trying to feel that either.

Personally nexplanon has not been for me, it’s been over a year and I’m trying to switch it out lol but doing research right now, here’s my personal experience for those who are curious, I am taking it out for two main reasons 1) my depression and anxiety symptoms have gotten so much worse 2) my period is no longer regular, I used to have a period every month for 4 days, but now my period is irregular and will go on for up to 2 weeks, come off for one week, come back on for another two, right now I’m at 3 weeks with me period and my mood swings are very annoying to deal with personally, I’ve concluded it’s just messing with my hormones too much and maybe not for me? Anyway I suffered from acne before nexplanon and it has not worsened since, I don’t think it’s impacted my face at all, also I have gained weight since being on it, and I must say, I used to have a small appetite before it, but me and my boyfriend noticed that once I was on the birth control my appetite grew so much, but I’m sure I gained weight from eating greasy food, but know that opening your appetite might be an effect. And I think that’s really all that I’ve noticed, good luck ladies 💕

I know this is late but if you get it in the first 5 days of your period, it should work immediately. If you get it at any other point in your cycle, it'll take a week to kick in, so you'll need to use another form of birth control for the first week.

I had the WORST experience with the nexplanon implant. I developed clots in my lungs as a 23 year old non-smoker who weighed 100lbs. (I mention my weight and nonsmoking because those were listed as risk factors for blood clots)
I passed out one morning and went to urgent care, where they did a blood test and CT and diagnosed me with pulmonary embolism. When they went to take out the implant, it took 3 different doctors to try and left a scar that sometimes breaks out in hives.
5 years later and I have a toddler. I almost died in labor from blood loss.
For the rest of my life, I can never use birth control with hormones (which is 99% of all birth control) AND I will have to inject blood thinners every single day of all my pregnancies.
PLEASE do your research ‼️‼️And if you feel like something is wrong, DONT ignore it! The doctor told me that me blacking out like that probably saved my life, because a lot of times PE’s are asymptomatic and aren’t discovered until the autopsy.

Could you share the symptoms of the 2nd time of getting the implant? I'm getting my second one in a couple weeks. It never really suppressed my period during my 3 years, had alot of irregular bleeding but I'm fine with it. I've heard some ladies had a worse symptoms the second time around.

Bleeding for months isn't what I consider "something that just works" lol. Maybe for some, but certainly not for me. Also my mood is way off. Cant handle this hormone at all sadly. Estrogen or barrier methods for me.

Im having it for almost 2 years and that's the worst decision of my life i have gained 15 kilos I am depressed, I had one and half year bleeding, very bad cramps. At least it was like that for me really really bad. I kinda feel I have lost myself!
Until I just said to myself wait wait what the hell is happening with you?!!! I realized the day I inserted that I forgot peace and happiness.
Im gonna remove it this week. For sure.

I was 8 months into having my 2nd nexplanon when I decided to stop taking oral bc with it, which I was doing all while I had it in order to regulate my cycle. As soon as I stopped taking oral bc I started bleeding, heavily, nonstop. I bled for 135 out of 150 days, long past the time it should have taken for my body to adjust. Finally got it taken out 3 days ago and have sworn off hormonal birth control entirely. Who knows what damage these things are doing long term? I may get a copper IUD in the future but for now I just need a break. My body has been on some sort of hormonal bc for the last 10 years, I can't even remember what it's like to have a normal, natural cycle.

@@angelicaramos8080 If you're planning on getting married, tell him to give you a wedding date. Stay on birth control until the actual wedding night-- other women aren't stupid, people change and I've seen sooooo many guys get someone pregnant and then leave during the fiance stage. Pregnancy and later a kid change EVERYTHING, and most guys won't stick through that with you unless they made a lifelong commitment through marriage -- and even THEN 50% leave.
One thing about life: never think you're the exception. Just trust the statistics and improve your odds by getting birth control until he says I do. Trust me.
