When I was 18 I was diagnosed with acute lukemia (cancer of the blood). My mom, a nurse, and oncologists were worried about me bleeding to death during chemotherapy. So they gave me a shot that was supposed to stop my period for 3 months. I went through menopause ( horrible by the way) for three years. Was told, I'd never have children..... Long story short, I finished chemo, never took birth control again after that one, single shot, got married and am now about to give birth to baby number 10!
My daughter became Catholic last year. I went to her RCIA classes with her and they had one class dedicated to all of this and my daughter went to a clinic and got off her birth control and is much healthier. So many issues she was having went away.
I was Protestant for years. Even went to school to become a minister. Theological inconsistencies in Protestant Theology and Biblical Interpretations led to a crisis of faith. Found the solutions so I could keep the entire Bible and have theology that didn’t contradict the Bible in the Catholic Church. Reading history of the Church confirmed that the Catholic Church is the Church Christ established. I know you mean well. Thanks for caring for my soul. You are welcome to the supper of the Lamb to eat his flesh and drink his blood. Jesus said you won’t have life in you unless you do. Read John 6 and ask yourself if you’re one of the ones who would’ve walked away. Blessings to you.
@@jamessgian7691Hi. No judgement, just asking out od curiosity - is there a reason you chose Catholicism as opposed to Orthodox? The Orthodox church has remained relatively uncuanged since the 1st century, but the Catholic church in recent years has become more lenient on LGBT stuff, maybe thats not an issue for you, idk, it is for me. Did you happen to look into Orthodox or just the catholic church? Im a prot, i have no stake in your answer lol.
@@TradwifeyDawn the Catholic Church isn’t more lenient on the LGBTQ issue. The media spun what the pope said to make it seem that way, but that’s not actually the case.
Reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" was life changing for me. I track my cycle as a means for both birth control and health. Despite my previous gynecologist trying to push the pill on me when I got married. Ladies, PLEASE don't let a doctor pressure you into ANYTHING! I was so conflicted in that moment but am so blessed to have found a better, supportive gyno.
Thank you for mentioning this book. I never used birth control, but in a Facebook group of new Christian moms they mentioned this book as they were talking about what to do in between babies or trying to get pregnant again or to just understand your body. I got it and read it after my first baby. It really helped me understand my body and I learned more than I ever did in health class. We have 3 boys now and the last two I was able to know I was pregnant with them before I took the test. My husband was surprised how accurate I got with it. But I think it works because you are tracking your own body's signs and are able to see trends even if you are off a day or two or cycle is different the from the 28 day method.
Same here! Someone recommended that book to me as in my younger 20s. I learned so much about my body that I didn’t even know! I was on birth control for 1 1/2 years. I’ve done natural family planning since then (13 years now) and it’s been great for our family.
May I ask who is the author? Tried to search for it on Amazon, but there are so many books with the same title but different authors. Thanks in advance !
@@MsEster22 The author is Toni Weschler. There are actually a few editions of the book because it has been out so long and is fairly popular. I don't think it really matters which one you read because the information is basically the same. There is also a website that has some good information too. I think including the link got my original response deleted, but it's a top Google result.
I was blessed to always have a regular cycle, and I volunteered at a pregnancy resource center as a teenager before I got married. Part of PRC training was learning about different forms of contraception, and they did an EXCELLENT job of bringing out the negative affects of birth control and also showing good alternatives like natural family planning. When I got engaged, I immediately knew that I would be talking to my future husband about natural family planning. I firmly believe that contraception and family planning should be the responsibility of both husband and wife.
Many men might cringe listening to this but I all men who want a relationship should know this! As a husband and father of five girls I am encouraged to hear this. I did my own research when dating my wife and we decided to do natural family planning right from the start. Much much healthier for the woman. Thank you for bringing light to this subject. I believe the age of the birth control has only encouraged men to view women as objects . It's to easy for a man now to hook up, live with a woman for years and have sex with no accountability. It makes men less responsible and I truly think it makes women more vulnerable to potentially just be used by men. Very sad.
Makes men less responsible? What about all the 304s running around literally EVERYWHERE. I would say its made the women irresponsible, they fuck anyone whenever they feel like and look at society now.
Yes! This why the Catholic Church teaches against birth control. But actually prior to 1930 all denominations were against contraception and it was just widely understood among Christians that it was immoral to have the pleasure of sex while actively blocking the potential for new life. Sex is supposed to be about creating life, being united as a married couple and enjoyment, *in that order.* But contraception elevates pleasure as the most important part of sex, which it is not. And when we think sex is all about pleasure, then it doesn't matter anymore whether it's a man and woman, or two women, or two men, or ten people. So much of our current cultural confusion is because of contraception.
It took me two years to become pregnant after being on birth control for 6 years! Scariest time of my life! I am so happy and feel so blessed that I am 12 weeks pregnant and healthy ❤ but for so many women struggling I feel you I really do!
My husband was happy when I went off birth control because I was happier - he noticed how much my mood improved. It was an acupuncturist who recommended that I stop it and she gave me a book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" that explains how to understand our cycles and do Natural Family Planning. I remember wishing someone had given me that book sooner. I had fallen away from Catholicism at that time, but when I came back to Catholicism I learned that the "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" book was written by Catholics.
My mom was on for a long time, and she died at the age of 48 due to heart disease!!😭 Birth control increases the risk of heart disease by 40%. The reason I never took it, ever!!
They already know that because they murdered Puerto Rican woman . They never told to the woman was an experiment of birth control pills. U$A the country that fallows the god ways 😂😂. May I ask U$A is innocent?
I'm 45, approaching the end of my fertility, but have done natural family planning my entire adult/married life. I've never been on any birth control. It's been one of the greatest blessings in my life, my marriage, and has given me the gift of 5 beautiful and planned for children.
I was regrettably on BC for the first year and half of my marriage, but felt like it was bad for me, just instinctively and also monitoring how I felt before I took the pill in the morning to how I felt about an hour afterwards.. I had literally started taking days off work .. went off it, then fell pregnant with our first son.. after that followed my ovulation on a basic application on my phone, and have never and will never go back .. i advise young couples when i can to not do anything to prevent pregnancy, meaning BC, but to follow their ovulation as there is only about a week in which a woman can fall pregnant in a month
Adding to my comment above. I also feel the fertility period is so much shorter than what you think... So don't try to prevent it, because suddenly what you've taken for granted for so long comes to an end.. A have been blessed with 4 beautiful boys, and now I'm near the middle of my 40s and actually wish I'd had more children
I was on birth control for the first year of marriage because I wanted my husband and I to enjoy married life without me being pregnant for just that first year. I felt like a crazy person half the time, way more randomly emotional about the least important things. I felt so much better when I got off it, and even now that I am pregnant I am so much more emotional stable than I was on the pill.
I was on birth control for about 5-6 years and towards the end, it started giving me menstrual migraines so I got off of it. As soon as I stopped taking it, I felt like a whole new woman and realized that I had been having a ton of bad side effects from it. I wasted a bunch of years of my life feeling miserable from that poison. I've been using the fertility awareness method for 14 years now, and its worked perfectly.
I was on birth control at 18 because I was told it would help clear up my face and regulate my cycle. The first day I took it I began to bleed and bled the entire 28 days (the full pack of pills). I was SO scared. Fast forward, I’ve been married now over 10 years with no children, and I always think back to that.
This is similar to what happened to me when I was 16. After I had been on it for a couple weeks I started my period and I bled for 14 days! Very heavy flow and extremely painful! I finished the month's worth but then I never took birth control again!
Do you think it could have affected your fertility? I’ve been off it for over half a year now and my periods have been so weird ever since coming off it. Completely irregular and lasting a few weeks at a time and coming later every month :/
Such an important conversation and I hope more people are made aware of the side effects of all birth control even like the copper IUD's like you talked about. It should also make the general public VERY suspicious of "hormone blockers" that are being advertised to preteens to prevent/delay puberty. I can only imagine the long term side effects of those, yet they are marketed as "an easy way to delay puberty". 😮
I could not take birth control. It did all kinds of things to my body and mind. After hearing this I am thankful that it did so much that I chose not to take it.
Thank you so much for having this conversation and posting this. It'll really open the eyes of women all over the world and help their bodies become normal again.
I have been on birth control sonce i was 11. They gave it to me because of how much I was bleeding . Like it wouldnt stop bleeding for months. So it helped me that year but i wish i would not have stayed on it. I dealt with depression as a kid and the birth control magnified it. Like i would have intrusive thoughts and suicidal thiughts every day . I switched to a iud and had many problems within the sexual part of marriage. I just got it out and im not having suicidal thoughts anymore. I dont feel so hopeless. Its like the sun is a lot brighter when it used to be dark in my life. Its been wonderful.
No one pressured me to start BC - I WANTED it. My periods were so painful, heavy, and long, it was like all I did for half a month was deal with it almost to the exclusion of everything else. At least back then, they had no answers other than BC for me. The BC did reduce the flow in both volume and duration, and it stopped the worst of the pain. I am very pain-tolerant, and not a drama queen, so I could handle the mild cramping while on BC. But yes, if someone had a healthier alternative, I would have gone for it. Still, the "it doesn't really do anything" thought is not entirely correct for all of us. Each of us has a different situation to consider.
I know someone who has been one these for a long time due to sever pain during periods. I was going to share this video but it doesn't address that problem and give an alternative treatment for debilitating painful periods.
The only thing that helped my debilitating menstrual cramps was having my first child. It’s been more than two years and I haven’t had anywhere near the level of pain with a period since giving birth which is amazing. I haven’t researched why it happens like this for some of us but I thank God I don’t have to call out from work the first day or two of my period because of the heavy bleeding and intense pain.
@@deniseowens1163 abnormal cycles aren't the only medical reasons to give someone birth control. There's different uterine conditions and people who aren't eligible for hysterectomy and for whom a pregnancy would put them at risk - birth control needs to be used then. P.S - being pregnant isn't a risk in itself, it's the beauty of life - it's a risk when the mother is predisposed to worsening existing medical conditions.
With all respect, they still don’t need birth control because it does not fix any medical problems. It’s a medicine that changes something healthy in the human body, i.e. fertility. If there is a serious reason for a woman to not get pregnant, she can always use natural family planning or remain abstinent.
I hope women catch what she said at the beginning of the interview, "It also works by thickening the uterine lining so that even if by some chance you got pregnant, nothing can implant". It's not only copper IUDs that kill conceived little babies, the pill, patches, any hormonal hormonal birth control has the same effect. Because as she said, it thickens the uterine lining so that if you do somehow ovulate and get pregnant "nothing" can implant. Friends, only babies implant in the uterus, after fertilization has occurred and life has begun. Hormonal birth control is not only bad for the woman taking it, it causes the death of babies formed in their womb by flushing them out of the body.
why do hear of so many women getting pregnant whilst on the pill then? I don't think its altogether true that in all cases this happens. I would like to see more studies on this. I know it prevents ovulation, it also changes cervical mucus to be more acidic which does not make it livable for sperm. but i want to see more info about what you said as obviously there are people who conceive on the pill.
@willire8811 yeah great question! When people conceive on the pill it's because all of those "tactics" fail simultaneously. The pill(and all hormonal birth control) is designed to function by suppressing ovulation, thickening cervical mucus, and lastly thinning the lining of the uterus so that it's uninhabitable to a baby implanting. The first two tactics are not a problem, they just seek to prevent conception from occurring. The problem is the last tactic that hormonal birth control uses, you can think of it like a last resort. If the first two tactics fail and an egg is fertilized by a sperm (new life aka baby) then they hope that by making the lining of the uterus inhospitable the baby will just pass on by and not implant. (Be flushed out of the woman's body). So when a woman gets pregnant on the pill, it's because all three failed, and that baby was thankfully able to implant despite the drug attempting to make the woman's uterus inhospitable. Sadly, many people only hear of the first and primary tactic, suppression of ovulation without hearing about the dangerous one. Here's a website that explains the three tactics. my.clevelandclinic.org/health/treatments/3977-birth-control-the-pill#overview
The pill thins the lining of the uterus hence the lighter periods so it isn’t quite as hospitable to a fertilized egg. I don’t personally believe it is an abortifacient because a fertilized egg can implant in the fallopian tube which has no lining. Everyone should make a prayerful decision. I’m against the pill for other reasons.
@@summer29167my sister got pregnant twice using two different hormonal birth control methods…she’s got two healthy girls now. There’s loads of women who get pregnant on hormonal birth control and may even be on it for the first two months or more of pregnancy. It does not cause miscarriages.
I had the copper iud. My body was rejecting the iud and pushing it out. I had to get an emergency surgery to remove! It was horrible. I hate birth control
On the copper IUD I specifically asked my doctor if the egg could still fertilize, her response was that the iud made the mucus in your uterus so thick that it stops the sperm from “swimming” and finding the egg, and that an egg could not be fertilized. I’m older and smarter now so I don’t think I can be hoodwinked as easy. Thirteen years I had the copper IUD, getting it removed was THE BEST DECISION I could make! My periods went from 8-13 days down to 3. I use the Daysy thermometer and app, it’s been wonderful, going on 4 years natural.
That's terrible! I've really become untrusting of doctors over the years because of things just like this. Granted, I think a lot of them have good intentions. But good intentions mean nothing when you give bad information about health.
I was on birth control for about 2 years. Eventually I got off it and had issues with weight gain and fatigue. I was then diagnosed with hypothyroidism. No one in my family has had this issue. When I asked the Dr if it could haven’t been the birth control, he got very defensive and dismissed it. I haven’t taken birth control since
I was on BC at the beginning of our marriage. When i wanted to get off, i asked my husband if i should get off. His response was "yes please!" Lol! That was 16 years ago. I never forgot his response. He said i was crazy on it
At 19 my doctor put me on the pill to “help” with my headaches. I was only on it for 6 months and I quit and never went back because it messed my body up, killed my libido among other things, didn’t help with my headaches. And just that 6 months on it… Took over a year to feel like myself again. Never again.
I have been on the pill for over 10 years and JUST stopped because lately, I haven't been well emotionally. I was on the pill after being pregnant at 19 after having my son. So I was so scared and just fed into this would help me. I was sadly dependent on the trauma I had been pregnant so young. Prayers for me that I haven't done any serious damage. 🙏
Thank you so much for voicing this and sharing! I was diagnosed with a rare life-threatening autoimmune disease about 2 years ago and was about to get married. My doctor immediately sought out birth control for me as the "solution" to preventing pregnancy even with my disease making me at a higher risk for blood-clotting. I appreciate that she gave me a low hormone birth control, however the pill sent me in a spiral of daily migraines, anxiety, depression, nausea, and the most painful periods following me quitting. I have been off for about one year now, and it is a night and day difference! I am a nursing major in school about to finish and have become so passionate about this topic when I discovered the truths behind the history and its potential abortifacient mechanisms. The only thing I would correct is that instead of thickening the uterine lining, it thins it. Overall, more people need to know the truth!! Some of my own family preaches in total ignorance of how amazing it is to girls around my age without realizing it could've been the very thing leading to their miscarriages and need for c-sections putting them at higher maternal mortality risk... it's truly sad altogether...
I've have two close friends whose mental health has been so dramatically affected by birth control, and it's so sad that it took them so long to realise that it was the birth control causing it :( women's health is sadly there is such a lack of research, and we just easily trust what doctors tell us. Ladies do your own research. I totally get some women really struggle with their periods and birth control can help with the pains, but if you don't actually need it I really strongly recommend not taking it. Please pray that my friends will be freed from the anxiety and depression it's caused, they are still having affects from it now. I pray in the name of Jesus that he will be deliver them from it.
Your comment struck home with me because I am on birth control and planning to get off of it. I’ve been on it for many years and have had serious mental health complications I believe from it. I do believe Jesus will help your friends through their hard times, as I do, he will for me.💖🙏
I was one where birth control was a life saver for me. I went on at 18 after years of extremely painful, extremely heavy periods. Having now had kids, the pain was like contractions and I would be losing vision, throwing up, and almost passing out. I was constantly anemic with 15 day periods. I was on it until I had my first child and, thank God, my hormones regulated themselves and I no longer had the horrific cycles. That said, I have never considered going on it again because of the side effects and also I know more about the possible abortion-inducing side of it. They really do mess with your mood and definitely your libido. My first couple years of marriage I really had no real desire to be intimate, and I didn't realize at the time how abnormal that was. I have daughters and I know the problems I had can be hereditary, so I am hoping to find better solutions. If I had to guess on the study's findings at the end of the video, I am guessing the reason you are more attracted to feminine qualities is because birth control pills mimic a state of pregnancy. When you are pregnant, psychologically, you go into a more nesting and protective state. Pregnant women through history have a natural desire to seek out nurturers, which is usually other women, to help take care of them in pregnancy and postpartum. These hormones are not supposed to be turned on until after you are expecting, but if they turn on before, you would be seeking these qualities in your partner instead. Oppositely, women have more testosterone around ovulation, and are naturally attracted to more masculine men. These would typically be men who make good providers and protectors and good father candidate. So the pill mixes up the natural and good order of how a women's hormones help form good relationships. Of course there are many other factors involved, but I thought those studies were interesting.
I have regrets about having my mirena IUD for 2 yrs. Could have kept it for up to 5 yrs, but had it removed. I've had a miscarriage and Cornual eptopic pregnancy -resulting in emergency surgery. That inflammation I believe caused both!
I went on birth control at 15 or 16 for heavy and painful periods. I ended up still getting pregnant at 16 while taking the pill. Now I am in my early 30’s and have endometriosis and have been trying to conceive for the last 4 years. I am convinced I developed endometriosis from starting birth control so early. And/or at all. My doctor trys to get me to go on the pill to help stop the endometriosis pain and bleeding every time I go to see him and I just tell him I am not getting on birth control ever again. I haven’t had the pills in probably 10 years now and I had the mirena about 8- 9 years ago for 1 year and bled and had terrible pain NON stop. It also blocks estrogen which can cause bad migraines. I woke up one more and could hardly move my neck. I was put on an estrogen pill. Which can cause all other kinds of complications. This was all before I went through nursing school and worked in the field and of course started to do my own research. It is poison to our bodies.
You may find Lily Nichols' new book, Real Food for Fertility helpful. It includes studies of some supplements/diets that have been helpful for endo pain.
I knew girls who got on it for acne. I went on it just before my wedding and gained weight. Ugh! I got off it after our first baby and my weight dropped below my wedding day weight.
Thank you for posting this video. I took the birth control Azurette, a low dose BC, for a little over a year and I suffered from frequent headaches/migraines that were painful because of it. After quitting cold turkey in August, maybe TMI for the men…, but I’m now experiencing recurring yeast infections. I never had one in my life until 2 months after I stopped my birth control. Now I’m on the path of figuring THAT out. I’m having to overhaul my diet to try to prevent anymore yeast infections from happening again. It’s not fun having to take diflucan 4 times since November.
The book The Scent of Desire (2008) discusses the impact of birth control on a woman's sense of smell. Women and men can recognize their partner's sweaty t-shirts in blind tests. We never forget smells and depending on whether or not the original odor is linked to a good or bad experience decides how we respond when we re-smell it later. Reading that book long ago made me wonder if that is why after decades together, couples get divorced as the familiar pheromone linked with their partner is no longer the same one they are used to. After the woman stops using birth control there is a major reset (of course, there could be other factors). (Linking in with the fiancé canceling her wedding after she stopped using birth control. Years ago, I wondered if that would a good pre-wedding decision to cement their man's smell first before they spend years together.) Also, women and their infants recognize each other by their smell soon after birth which immediately made me think of King Solomon and the two women. The one woman knew that the baby next to her in the night was not hers. Smell is an important hidden deal breaker - Think about pets and blankets and stuffed animals, baby animals in the wild know their mothers and vice versa, and children and spouses holding clothes of a significant other when they are apart). Jordan Peterson's video Why She Stopped Finding You Attractive discusses the smell factor and birth control.
It's so relieving to know that we have TH-camrs who do their own "research" on topics like this. A credible guest would name/date the papers and studies that they are referring to.
A doctor put me on birth control for no reason when I was a teenager. I had the most painful constipation. TMI: My poo was hard as rocks inside of me and my body would not naturally push it out. I never took them again.
I had a preemie baby and now they are telling me to go on birth control to wait 18months before another baby to lessen the chance of having another preemie. I’m hesitant…. Need to do more research on birth control. Much needed convo.
Got on birth control for about 5 years had the breakthrough bleeding to where I bled for about 2 months straight , killed my libido , gained weight , went absolutely mentally insane , it made me an ugly angry person , depressed , acne , hair loss, swelling , double chin , vitamin D deficiency, became anemic Got off of it in 2022 , a huge ovarian cyst the size of a cantaloupe grew and had to be removed . Then had two miscarriages , the last one was so bad I hemorrhaged, passed out in the shower and needed a blood transfusion. 😢 I would never ever recommend birth control to any women or young girl . My daughter will not be on it either .
I was on birth control for 2 years and was in Physical Therapy school in a class where an MD came to discuss medical issues that we should be familiar with. He discussed side effects of the pill. Since my dad died of cardiac arrest when he was 33 y.o. I decided the cardiac/stroke risks were not something I needed to add to my genetics. I immediately got off the pill and used a non-hormone method. This worked well, and I went on to have 3 beautiful children. 😊 Thank you for this discussion.
I had NEVER been on birth control until I was 31, I had a very traumatic pregnancy and birth. Mentally and physically I felt I could never do it again. I got an IUD. Here I am 16 weeks pregnant with an IUD still in my uterus praying this child makes it through because my OB can’t pull the IUD. I regret the IUD more than anything in my life.
Every single one of my patients were told about how birth control works, the side effects, warnings, etc. I am a midwife and the fact that most American women have such awful "health" care is appalling. America has "sick" care, not heath care.
Got of BC at 22 now I’m 37 and feel great. I get a regular period and sometimes it’s early sometimes it late but I would rather deal with Flo every month than have horrible side effects.
I took birth control from age 17 to 20. After that, I was trying to have a baby with my husband. It took me about 3 years to even get pregnant and I lost that child. After that, I got pregnant four more times and lost every one. Then four years after the last one, I got pregnant when I thought I could not ever get pregnant and have a baby, and I found out I was pregnant when I was four months pregnant. That was my oldest son that I had at age 29 and then I had two more at age 31 and 34. It took almost 10 years for that product to get out of my system! Now my daughter in law and son are wanting to have a baby, and she had some kind of bar in her arm that controlled her hormones. She just had a miscarrige and I hope it does not take her 10 years to get that all out of her system.
Hormonal birth control, of any type, made me insane! Like insane! I took it for endometriosis which it helped BUT I then had to go on a form of Prozac for PMDD. It was the worst cycle ever!
@@lztz8954 for some people it WORSENS it can you imagine 💀(like my gran). Dont want kiddos anyway, but I'm super glad for you!! I hope it never comes back and that your daughter never knows that pain (my endo runs in my family).
@@sabrinast-pierre3619 That’s the thing about the human body…there will NEVER be a one size fits all approach to health nor should there be. This is why it’s vital to have a knowledgeable and supportive health team in one’s corner. This is easier said but done worth finding.
just got my copper iud out (was never a fan of the pill) and I feel great. Was having very intense emotional swings and was not feeling like myself. Will go on the Sensiplan birth control method
I've never really had an opinion on birth control. I always felt that if it is to be prescribed, it shouldn't be prescribed to anyone under a certain age. 12 year olds on birth control always rubbed me the wrong way.
I had it to regulate my period and I stopped after the first pill because something just made me uncomfortable to know that I can't have kids if I keep taking them. So, I refused to take them for the longest time.
Birth control: pills, iud, implant, etc can also cause abortion. The first “goal” is to prevent ovulation, the second is to make the uterus inhabitable if fertilization occurs
Look up how plan b works, or iuds. First click or result will tell you that even if a fertilization were to occur, the uterus won’t be hospitable, which causes termination
@@rachellayman3020 nope to be pregnant you need implantation. Once the fertilized egg implants then you have a pregnancy, and that’s when the body releases all those pregnancy hormones like progesterone and HCG. If you have a fertilized egg and it doesn’t implant you were never pregnant. Yes human life begins at conception but pregnancy begins at implantation. It’s very arbitrary. Not every single fertilized egg implants naturally. Most go out with your period. So you can even the uterus is a hostile environment at times fully dependent on your cycle and hormones.
I can see where the terminology can be disputed but the main problem stays, taking birth control is purposefully making it so life can’t grow, which is a moral problem as opposed to women who naturally may not be able to have embryos attach, due to conditions beyond their control. Intent matters
@@rachellayman3020 we our cycle do that naturally too however birth control doesn’t end a pregnancy it just makes the likelihood even less. And if you’re in no place to be pregnant I think it’s responsible to get on brith control or abstain. I don’t think it’s morally wrong at all.
I was on BC for 4 years, the IUD to be exact. And when I finally took it out my paps were coming back abnormal and even almost had a cervical cancer scare, I literally had to remove part of my cervix. Not saying BC did this but not ruling it out, before the BC my paps were always normal. So never again will I get on BC after that scare. I wish I knew better but I was a young mom, and I’m still in my late twenties.
I have debilitating cramps and my doctor and mom’s advice was to get on BC. I rebelled bc it didn’t seem logically healthy and the doctor didn’t even try to see if anything else could be the issue.
I went on birth control just before our wedding because we wanted to wait 5 years before we had kids. I got pregnant twice on birth control! By the time we were married the years we had two kids and one miscarriage. Hubs was afraid something bad would happen to me so he got a vasectomy and I felt soooo much better after I got off birth control.
As a guy, a lot of this information coming out about birth control and the side effects has been eye opening. Not just from a moral standpoint or the health related issues, but how it has such a strong effect on a woman's sense of smell. Smell certainly plays a part in what attracts her to a man. Thanks big pharma!🙄
I find this conversation to be very one-sided. I know that birth control is not the best decision for many women, including myself, and I don't deny that there can be many harmful effects. However, there are women who have conditions like endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, etc. whose quality of life is significantly improved by it. These women often are in so much pain or bleeding so much that they aren't able to live their normal lives during their period, as well as other times throughout the month. I know from my own experience that these conditions can be crippling. Blanket statements such as no one needs to be on it can be harmful and stem from misunderstanding or lack of knowledge.
I was told I had ovarian cancer, and the tumor turned out to be a smooth muscle tumor (fibroid) outside of my reporductive organs. Before surgery every single health care professional I encountered asked me if I had ever taken BC (I have never.) What does that tell you?
I don’t think this conversation was directed to the women with that type of conditions. They were referring to women who used it as pregnancy prevention and period “regulation”
Just FYI, I have always hated any birth control.. i just want to put that out there. Before i got on birth control in my teens, I would naturally go without a period for 4 months straight. 🤷🏻♀️
I did too. The first several years of having a cycle, I’d go months in between periods. I never got on birth control and eventually it regulated in its own and started coming monthly.
Birth control and abortion was created because people wanted to have multiple partners. This is way before our time. Not our doing. Just don't except people's adulterous ways. Love all my brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ ❤🎉🎉❤
No, birth control pills were created to control the population of those deemed lesser than. Abortion is murder, coming straight from the enemy of our souls at the beginning. Then eventually people were deceived into thinking it was a good thing.
So basically as it is common with the pharmaceutical industry, people are sold pills and medicine they dont need and stuffer side-effects for no reason. 8:08 again they say its innate when the smallest things seem to be able to change the likelyhood of these tings. Not to say these pills are small things but, I mean seriously.
I am 32 years old, and I dont take Birth control pills. So glad I made the decision. I have my period on time every year, and happy to report that to a Doctor, No BC, and naturally recurring period. 😊
YES. I relate so much to your opening statement! When I got off, I felt so. much. better. It was wild getting to know myself after 8 years on the pill (16-24) - I was shocked to learn that I don't actually have terrible anxiety, a quick temper, or low libido. I was happy to skip some periods... but I'll never go back to birth control.
Copper IUD works mainly by preventing sperm from reaching the egg (causing an environment toxic to sperm), but if fertilization does occur it will also likely prevent the embryo from implanting.
I disagree with her a little. I went on the pill as a teenager in suggestion from my OB to help solve a medical issue, my cycle was so bad that I would have fainting spells from the volume of bleeding, and the pain was unbearable. No amount of pain pills or hot pads would help it. Even to this day I don't know what I could have done to make life mangable during that time. HOWEVER It did bring with it a slew of side effects and in hindsight I see it destroyed several years of my life because of the anxiety and depression that set in because of the pill. I went off of it 6 years ago to start having kids with my husband and thankfully since having my little one my cycle has calmed down and that debilitating pain and horror movie levels of bleeding hasn't come back. I'm not sure if it was just something I aged out of or if having a kid is what did it. Tl:Dr I was on the pill for legit medical reasons, it helped, but it had major psychological side effects that I was never properly warned about. I think the real problem is 1) over pushing it and 2) obfuscating the side effects these things have.
@@stst77 That makes sense. My cycle got a lot easier after my first, but now after my second it's reminding me how much it can suck. Still not to the degree it was before thank goodness but not as light as it was before my little boy.
Every woman struggling with hormones should get a DUTCH hormone test and find a doc who can interpret it for them and guide them with natural and healthy ways of balancing their hormones. The blood tests for hormones that normal western medicine docs give you don’t give you nearly as much information as a DUTCH test does. I say this from personal experience and because it changed my life by finally setting me on a healing path and helping me avoid exploratory surgery for endometriosis. God answered my prayers big time, and boy was I desperate and in pain for so long….prayers for all you women reading this who are suffering with hormonal issues and pain
Thank you for this episode! I remember brainfog, and the feeling I felt clear again after stopping pills. Feelings, sadness and joy came back, during pill I felt flat.. that was over 20 yrs ago and I was happy that I stopped taking them.
I would misses my period at least 1x/year and always in the summer. I never went to the doctor for anything; maybe that was a good thing. But I was more active on the summer and would drop weight.
What about the connection between bc and ectopic pregnancies, what are the chances that 2 people I know have had this happen to them and it not being related to bc at all?
When I was in my mid 30s I got an implant under my arm for birth control. I don’t remember what it was called. Anyway in my late 30s I had to get it removed which I did. Then after I went to the Dr to get on another BC method. I was put on a pill and I was 39. That pill completely stopped my period and I went into menopause. 11 yrs later and I never got another period.
About a year ago I went in for a regular check-up with a new doctor. She asked if I wanted birth control and I said "no". Then throughout the rest of the appointment, she proceeded to ask me two more times if I wanted to get on birth control. Lady, I told you once, don't make me repeat myself. I'm glad I stood my ground and said "no". I did not go back to see her again. Personally, I find birth control causing women to stop having their periods to be very concerning. Why would you want to stop something natural for a healthy woman? It makes no sense.
5:24 You can actually only get pregnant for 24 hours of your cycle. The egg is only viable for that long… now sperm can live in your uterus and fallopian tubes for up to 5 days. So that means you need to abstain for 5 days leading up to ovulation if you want to avoid pregnancy.
So crazy because when you have a hormonal IUD your period stops! I got my IUD out, my doctor wanted me to have another one put straight back in. I brought up the fact that it was a bit weird that I hadn't had a period in 5 years 😅 she thought that was fine. Make it make sense! I converted to Catholicism last year. The Catholic Church teaches against contraception in general because contraception makes sex about pleasure. Sex is about creating new life, being united as a married couple and pleasure in that order, but with contraception it becomes pleasure first, unity second, and life not at all. Using the fertility awareness method has worked really well for me the last year. I use ovulation strip tests to track my ovulation and it works great. It took about 6 months after the IUD for my cycle to be regular, but now it's like clockwork so it's awesome.
My wife and I used condoms for birth control. We had 3 wonderful sons, who are 3 years and 4 years between births. After expecting our 3rd we agreed that I would get a vasectomy. This has worked out well for us.
I’ve been on the mini pill (progestin only) for over a year. Zero side effects. Well, except for the side effect of better sex because I’m not terrified of getting pregnant again. I am one and done and actively avoiding sex around ovulation. I’ve never been on the combination pill cus I don’t currently have the bandwidth to deal with potential side effects trying different ones out. But when I do, I am so looking forward to never having a period again (if I can find one with minimal to no side effects for me). But anyways. I’m currently doing a few birth control methods and the mini pill has no side effects, including not artificially controlling my cycle. I unfortunately still deal with my period once a month. Got my period back the month I got on the pill (3 months post partum) and while it is regular with no cramping, I still hate it. Oh and I’m still very much in love with my very masculine husband lmao.
A lot of women have been helped through the use of NaPro technology. It does usually require charting your cycle and observing certain bio markers, but Na Pro doctors typucally use this info along with thorough testing to get to the root of the issue and not just mask the painful symptoms. It is worth looking into.
Never used birth control . Skin is clear mind is clear and I look younger than many of my peers ❤. Thank you Jesus 🙏✝️. Ladies need to realise we need to respect our bodies . We are more than objects of pleasure. Hallelujah ❤ daughters of the king 👑
Unfortunately I have endometriosis symptoms, birth control has been the ONLY thing that worked so far. Yes it has side effects, but they are nothing compared to the pain I was into before.
Baby 10 You one Epic Woowwman 😍💪

Woah! That's amazing.
What a lovely testimony ❤
Baby 10!!! You and your family are so blessed. God is good ❤
My daughter became Catholic last year. I went to her RCIA classes with her and they had one class dedicated to all of this and my daughter went to a clinic and got off her birth control and is much healthier. So many issues she was having went away.
Run away from the Catholic Church. Jesus is The only way to Father

Love TCOYF!
I am so grateful that i NEVER let anyone pressure me into taking birth control! I am thankful for my parents too.
I took my stepdaughter to a dermatologist when she was a teen and the doctor was so quick to offer to put her on bc. I was livid.
Congratulations!!! 🎉❤
I recommend this book to everyone I can!!!! Amazing for before we wanted to fall pregnant, and then amazing for when we wanted to become pregnant!!
I was in high school from 2002-2006. All my friends and I were put on BC for things like acne and heavy periods. None of us were even sexually active

@annmarie3573... Would love to learn more😊
I was regrettably on BC for the first year and half of my marriage, but felt like it was bad for me, just instinctively and also monitoring how I felt before I took the pill in the morning to how I felt about an hour afterwards..
I'm happy for you.
I had a very similar experience!!
White women say no to abortion
Yes 💯 I agree as a women currently who is on bc due to endometriosis complications
I know someone who has been one these for a long time due to sever pain during periods. I was going to share this video but it doesn't address that problem and give an alternative treatment for debilitating painful periods.
Drink vitex berry and wild yam tea
The only thing that helped my debilitating menstrual cramps was having my first child. It’s been more than two years and I haven’t had anywhere near the level of pain with a period since giving birth which is amazing. I haven’t researched why it happens like this for some of us but I thank God I don’t have to call out from work the first day or two of my period because of the heavy bleeding and intense pain.
I'm a doctor, and I never start anyone on birth control unless they need it for medical conditions
Fellow doctor here
A lot of people don't have normal cycles me as one of them. But I do agree don't use birth control
Exactly!
This video helped me to make the decision to get off the bc, ive been debating for a while now, and this helped me push to getting off.
I was on birth control for about 2 years. Eventually I got off it and had issues with weight gain and fatigue. I was then diagnosed with hypothyroidism. No one in my family has had this issue. When I asked the Dr if it could haven’t been the birth control, he got very defensive and dismissed it. I haven’t taken birth control since
Dessicated thyroid (preferably) pork or beef is a natural remedy to hypo thyroid! That along with iodine & a high-fat carnivore diet healed me of it!
I was on BC at the beginning of our marriage. When i wanted to get off, i asked my husband if i should get off. His response was "yes please!" Lol! That was 16 years ago. I never forgot his response. He said i was crazy on it
Same!
So glad you’re talking about this!!!! I’m 48 and I could never take birth control. I went CRAZY. Got off and I was just fine!
I never had any birth control in any form. I always believed that it will just make me crazy so never tried it.
💖Love this! I’m encouraged now to take the steps to finally get off birth control for good🙏
I've have two close friends whose mental health has been so dramatically affected by birth control, and it's so sad that it took them so long to realise that it was the birth control causing it :( women's health is sadly there is such a lack of research, and we just easily trust what doctors tell us.

After trying multiple hormonal bc options and seeing what it did to my moods, my eyes were opened and I realized what a bad idea this is.
The best description of living on birth control is living in grey scale. You just feel blah. Being off of it you get your joi de vivre back.
Got on birth control for about 5 years had the breakthrough bleeding to where I bled for about 2 months straight , killed my libido , gained weight , went absolutely mentally insane , it made me an ugly angry person , depressed , acne , hair loss, swelling , double chin , vitamin D deficiency, became anemic
Got off of it in 2022 , a huge ovarian cyst the size of a cantaloupe grew and had to be removed . Then had two miscarriages , the last one was so bad I hemorrhaged, passed out in the shower and needed a blood transfusion. 😢
I would never ever recommend birth control to any women or young girl . My daughter will not be on it either .
I'm so sorry that all these happened to you.
Thank you for this discussion.
That goes for mental “health” care as well.
I was on a generic ring BC and it gave me the worst migraines on the planet. Months of bed rest, vomiting and splitting headaches.
Same here, but endo is so much worst in my case I prefer dealing with birth control side effects.
Sorry to hear that! Luckily, for me, having my daughter straightened most of that stuff out.
I'm so glad you are talking about it. I escaped the birth control only because I was born in a Catholic Country and I knew it wasn't moral.
Birth control: pills, iud, implant, etc can also cause abortion. The first “goal” is to prevent ovulation, the second is to make the uterus inhabitable if fertilization occurs
That’s false information.
Watched the 1st second and already relate to this. Birth control made me feel crazy
Can be taken care of holistically.
I don’t think this conversation was directed to the women with that type of conditions. They were referring to women who used it as pregnancy prevention and period “regulation”
I took birth control for about 2 weeks when I was 19 years old. I felt so bizarre I decided to quit. I refuse to mess with my hormones ever again!
Wow 😮 I just got off and I so feel a lot better. I will document the changes my body goes through over the next few months
Never been on birth control… my period was never the most regular, but I was always on the fence on the artificial hormones inside my body part…
HOWEVER
It did bring with it a slew of side effects and in hindsight I see it destroyed several years of my life because of the anxiety and depression that set in because of the pill.
After every pregnancy my cycles changed and so did my PMS symptoms.
@@stst77 That makes sense. My cycle got a lot easier after my first, but now after my second it's reminding me how much it can suck. Still not to the degree it was before thank goodness but not as light as it was before my little boy.
Thank you for mentioning the psychological effects that are so often ignored by providers.
I was 14. for acne, for heavy periods and bad cramping.
Thank you for this episode! I remember brainfog, and the feeling I felt clear again after stopping pills. Feelings, sadness and joy came back, during pill I felt flat.. that was over 20 yrs ago and I was happy that I stopped taking them.
Excellent conversation
My husband is so relieved that I married him without birth control. He knows I actually find him attractive.
What? What?
It’s also a Class 1 Carcinogen, right next to smoking and asbestos.
My wife and I used condoms for birth control. We had 3 wonderful sons, who are 3 years and 4 years between births. After expecting our 3rd we agreed that I would get a vasectomy. This has worked out well for us.
Thank you for sharing!
So informative, thanks👍
Have you studied the link between breast cancer and the birth control pill? Suzanne Sommers drew attention to this before she died of breast cancer.
I just found out recently that the severe neurological symptoms ive been experiencing for 4 years is likely connected to IUD
Yeah so what’s the solution then, to excruciating pain from heavy heavy periods or Endometriosis? If not birth control pills, then what?
A lot of women have been helped through the use of NaPro technology. It does usually require charting your cycle and observing certain bio markers, but Na Pro doctors typucally use this info along with thorough testing to get to the root of the issue and not just mask the painful symptoms. It is worth looking into.
there are foods out there that help with what you have sardines, walnuts, eggs look it up better than BC eating healthy
I have had 3 patients over my 10 years that died from aneurysms due to oral contraceptives. All were on their 30s.
Never used birth control . Skin is clear mind is clear and I look younger than many of my peers ❤. Thank you Jesus 🙏✝️. Ladies need to realise we need to respect our bodies . We are more than objects of pleasure. Hallelujah ❤ daughters of the king 👑
Man SHOULD QUIT PLAYING "GOD"
YES
I took myself off of BC about over 10 years ago. I knew this info but Noone believed me besides my mom lol
Unfortunately I have endometriosis symptoms, birth control has been the ONLY thing that worked so far. Yes it has side effects, but they are nothing compared to the pain I was into before.
I took birth control when I got married and felt horrible. My mood was not the same. I got off 9 months later.
I started bc but I never took them properly, I had an eating disorder and that’s what they said to regulate my period but I was anorexic,
